Lynxstar sat tall, eyes set firmly upon the apprentice before him. He wasn’t one to show mercy towards warrior assessments, especially not with the recent events happening within the valley. He flicks an ear at the thought, not allowing himself to focus on the thought. He had a job to do. ”Lilacpaw. You have reached the appropriate age of a warrior of ThunderClan, therefore I will be overseeing your assessment one on one. You are to catch three pieces of prey and bring them here to me - one bird, one squirrel and one more of your own choice. I am aware that due to... recent events that prey has been scarce for Newleaf but I am confident in your abilities.”He stands in turns away, ducking into the undergrowth. “Good luck.”simonwho

Lilacpaw sat quietly, tail wrapped around her paws as she listened to Lynxstar. She felt...alone. She was supposed to be a warrior along with her sisters, but they were gone. Even still, however, she sat tall, and proud. She had be what her sisters never would be, unfortunately. She had to make them proud. The apprentice could only nod in response to the leader, watching him disappear.
Turning, she walked away, ears perked for the soft chirps of birds, or the rustling of leaves and undergrowth of a squirrel. She paused occasionally, taking note of the scents in the air. Despite the earth elements healing the forest, there was still evidence of the fires. She could never forget the smell of smoke, the burning of her lungs and eyes, the cries of her clanmates. And she herself was a fire element whom could do nothing to save her territory, or her fallen clanmates. The moons of training with Vixenleap would pay off.
She stopped abruptly, head snapping to the direction of a singing bird. She dropped into a crouch, careful with her paw placement, keeping track of her surroundings. Come on, Lilacpaw. You got this, She thought, Make your sisters proud. Become a warrior. The she-cat inched closer, watching the little bird search for food on the ground. How ironic. Lilacpaw waited, muscles tensed and ready to strike.
And so, she did. As soon as the bird turned away once more, Lilacpaw leapt forward, grabbing it with her jaws and holding it down, giving it a swift, hopefully painless death. She gently let go of it, quietly thanking Starclan for the prey. One down, two more to go.

He stalks behind the apprentice a good few fox lengths away, carefully stepping over any stray roots and fallen leaves in his way. She was doing well, and so early into her assessment - song birds weren’t the easiest prey to catch.
But he wouldn’t congratulate her just yet, no. She still had two more catches to make, then she could move on.
