Learning was relentless- her training as the future leader of ThunderClan seemed to have no end in sight. She couldn't help but wonder if Lynxstar ever felt the same. Was there ever a day when the situation was the same? Was there ever a moment of peace in the valley, so that they could all finally catch their breath? Initially, the weight of ThunderClan's future was overbearing, but it had slowly become something that Newtpaw looked forward to. There would be new days, perhaps a time of peace where DarkClan was finally put into their rightful place. The future was something that was malleable, something that she, as future leader, could potentially change. She hoped that alteration would be one for the better. She didn't want to let ThunderClan down- she'd already let Owlpaw down by not being there for him in the fire. She still hadn't forgiven Ospreypaw. The chocolate tortoiseshell point rested near the entrance of the apprentice's den, her front legs crossed but her ears rigid as she remained alert. Lynxstar had ordered her to take the afternoon off- assuming the rest of the evening was tranquil, that was. Every little altercation, every new situation, all of it was something that she needed to learn from. "Day off" was a word foreign to her vocabulary. First was the fire at ShadowClan's border, now... Well, there was merely not telling what might be next. But she'd be ready for it. Blaze

Fogheart had thought warriorhood would be more... exciting. He was content with the way things were, the normal he’d settled into was nice, but everything seemed so action-packed and fantastical when he was an apprentice. Maybe the threat of war looming on the horizon all the time back then made it seem more exciting. But now he was a young warrior and the most he did now was go on hunting and border patrols; he felt a little upset when he’d been told that he’d have to wait moons before anyone even thought about putting him on the Growth Patrol and he still felt that twinge of hurt over the revelation. But life was too short to stay upset over anything. The tailless warrior dropped his catch onto the pile, thankful to be eating squirrels and birds again instead of lizards and frogs - he still shuddered at the taste - before he noticed Newtpaw sitting by herself near the apprentice den. That’s right, she was still technically an apprentice, wasn’t she? How long did it take to train to become leader anyway? Lynxstar practically had two paws in the grave already, but it didn’t seem like he’d be retiring any time soon. He wondered how Newtpaw felt, seeing everyone go about their lives without her while she remained in the same den she’d entered moons ago now. StarClan, she was older than he was, how come she couldn’t get her “warrior” name yet? He furrows his brows in thought. She had to be feeling pretty bad, whether she wanted to admit it or not. Especially with everything that’d happened in the last few moons... He made up his mind and trotted over, pushing a thrush over to her paws with a strong gust of wind and carrying his own fresh kill in his jaws. He lays down next to her with a wide grin before taking a bite out of the food he’d caught. Man, he was soon good at this. 20mia08

The reptition and temporary steadiness of life was greatly welcomed by the leader apprentice. Although Newtpaw had quickly learned to manage her senses of stress, it was still nice to spend an afternoon without worrying about impending death and destruction of her clan. For once, lectures with Lynxstar were of more trivial matters- simple hunting techniques, battle training, and the likes. Less lessons of politics, drama, and policies. And while it was an enjoyable stagnantness, the pointed molly doubted that it would last. Something still hung in the air, a sort of strange energy. It was like a calm before a storm, as if a battle greater than ever before was awaiting them. There were some curious things- Hawktalon returning with a non-elemental stranger at the border, and the Gathering hinting news of a new element: Light. It would all lead up to something. Newtpaw was sure of it. Maybe the stranger wasn't much (after all, what could an outsider with no element possibly do to them?), but a new element, one that opposed Dark...she knew it would catch Lynxstar's interest. Her sharp blue eyes had been focusing on the dull activities of camp- kits wrestling, elders sharing tongues, and the alike. The old apprentice tensed her form when a breeze ruffled her fur, only to find fresh kill at her paws. Ah yes- Fogheart, the warrior that was younger than Newtpaw...was he here to gloat? ...Or was he just trying to be slick? "Afternoon." The stocky feline greeted him as he invited himeslf over to lay beside her and eat some fresh kill. She curiously nosed through the small bird he had offered her, before deciding that she was indeed hungry and began to pluck away the many feathers. Frankly, Newtpaw was shocked that Lynxdstar promoted Fogheart's brother, Acorncloud. The young tom had little to not control over his dangerous element, even if he had made minor improvements. She would have held him back, for his safety and that of the clan. "...Enjoying warriorhood, I see?"Blaze

He makes a noncommittal noise. ”It’s not that different than before,” he answers finally. ”Just a spiffy new name and the same work to do! I just don’t need to hold someone’s paw to leave camp anymore.” That may have been an exaggeration but Fogheart was always known for being somewhat dramatic with his words. It was a sign that nothing had truly changed, really. He wasn’t a little kit anymore - he was a grown tom with his own life to live. Still though, that didn’t mean he didn’t want to spend any time he had with friends or good acquaintances of his. In fact, it made every moment he spent with them more special! So many cats that he cared about and you’d never know when you would close your eyes for the last time. Might as well enjoy every moment, right? ”I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen you lying down. Did your paws finally give out?” he teases lightheartedly. 20mia08

Fogheart should have been grateful that his warriorhood was uneventful thus far. So many cats seemed to have the desire to pursue glory- maybe Newtpaw was one of them, at least initially as she trained underneath the tutorship of Lynxstar. However, after spending so many moons learning from the aging leader and seeing the hardships he (and the clan) had to face...sometimes, a relaxing week was much welcomed. It was better than bloodshed and losing the lives of young warriors and older apprentices. "Same work, eh?" The mottled chocolate she commented with a curious raise of her brow. "...So they still have you cleaning the elder's den?" She smirked. Newtpaw recalled that evening all those moons ago, when she'd discovered that Acornpaw and later Fogpaw had followed her to Five Stones. Acornpaw hadn't been so much of a problem, but Fogpaw...well, he had definitely been a thorn in her side. While he seemed to have matured some, she certainly had her suspicions that he still had a bit of a troublesome streak. The leader apprentice stretched out her neck to enjoy whatever faint light of sunshine that she could. "Lynxstar's orders, I'm to have the day off. Fortunately, there's nothing too eventful going on to learn from." She could only pray that it'd stay that way for some time. Thunderclan really needed a bout of peace, between the complications with DarkClan, and the fires with ShadowClan. They needed to regroup and heal. Blaze
