Juniperstorm was born in RiverClan with his sister Pouncekit to -spark and Silt-, given the name Driftkit. His first 4 moons were wonderful, he was well loved by his family. But one night during his 4th moon, he and his sister snuck out after one of his parents and came across a river. Being foolish kits, they decided it would be a good idea to take a swim.

   Being a bold, adventurous kit, Pouncekit went in first, and to noones surprise was dragged away by the current. Driftkit ran after her, crying out in fear and panic, and drew his parent's attention. He had watched as his sister's head dissappeared beneath the waves, and his parent had to hold him back from diving in to save her.
   He never fully got over her death, and it certianly didn't help his greiving when a moon later his parents took Ashkit under their wing after he was abandoned. He saw this act as them replacing his sister, and has always been bitter about that. He never got along with Ashkit, and tried to avoid him. His hostility also ended up distancing him from his parents, which made him feel like he was also being replaced.
   Driftkit was made an apprentice, and was extremely lucky to have a Dark Element clanmate that was willing to train him. However, the very formal relationship with this cat did anything but improve his sour, distant personality, and was a factor in him eventually leaving his clan. He learned little more than the basics of controlling his element as to not be consumed by them, and after being taught those basics branched out on his own to figure out how to further use his element while avoiding his mentor. He didn't figure out a lot on his own, but he did manage to figure out how to manipulate the shadows a little bit. And with all of these uncomfortable, gathering feelings inside him, he would bully and belittle Ashpaw verbally to make himself feel better. He would rarely physically injure his adopted 'brother,' but when he did it was never more then an angry swipe at his whiskers or a snap. He knew better then than to outright attack him. 
   6 moons came by quickly for him, and he was fully aware he still had a while until he would become a warrior. He thought that if he didn't leave to join the budding DarkClan, he wouldn't have become a warrior at all. But luckily for him, he was encouraged by that distant mentor of his to leave his birthclan and join DarkClan. He had been aware of how differently Dark element cats were treated in RiverClan, and wondered if that was part of the reason that his parents had "disowned" him so easily. He left to join DarkClan with little to no hesitation, and was given a new mentor there, of whom he actually bonded with and ended up learning quite a bit from before he was made a warrior.
   Driftpaw was around 13 moons old when he was made a warrior. He was told when he would be assessed before it happened, and request for his prefix to be changed even if he didn't pass the assessment. He did luckily, and was made a warrior a few days later. Driftpaw was given the new prefix Juniper to his request and the suffix storm in homage of his personality. At first he didn't like the suffix, seeing it parralleled Ashcloud more than he would have liked, but after a while and quite a bit of thought about it he decided to treat the suffix as being better than -cloud, meaning in his mind he thought he was better than Ashcloud.
   He spent his first moons in DarkClan oberving and somewhat getting to know his clanmates, making sure to pay attention to every little detail he noticed about them. But after a while of doing this, he started to feel more content around them, and to his surprise felt like he was finally coming back to the way he used to be. And now that he's more comfortable, he has really started to question some things about himself. He doesn't think of himself as Driftpaw any longer, since He has lived in DarkClan just about 18 moons now. He still misses his sister badly, but knows (or at least hopes) that she is watching him from up in StarClan.
