20mia08 Lynxstar sat alone in the Life Hollow, his eyes closed and his breaths deep and slow. To any normal cat, it looked as if he were sleeping sitting up, but he was truly just... thinking. Meditating. It was one of the few useful things his mentor actually taught him. When life got too stressful and crazy, he normally powered through and came out of it stronger, a better cat. But there were times when even he needed to step back and think. To just breathe. In and out. In and out. Thunderclan was growing weak. Darkclan had taken more cats than he thought was possible. He'd sent a warrior and an apprentice, each with all the elements that Thunderclan had in its ranks, so how was it that they'd been able to make it seem as though they'd never even stepped foot on Five Stones beforehand? He didn't even detect his own warriors scents, just... the scent of earth and fear. In and out. It didn't matter now. When Ravenstar came to "collect" her own warriors, he'd beat what he needed to know out of her if he had to. Then, he would go to find them and they would tell him what truly happened for themselves. But for now, Thunderclan would have to train. If Ravenstar held up to her word, then they only had a half-moon to prepare for her patrol. He hoped that his clanmates had heeded his words and actually began to train harder. In and out. Once his warriors were back safe and sound, he would actually have to hold up to his word against Duskstar. He hadn't forgotten what Shadowclan had done to Thunderclan territory, not for a heartbeat. It was because of them that this leafbare was especially hard, most the prey had yet to return, even with their side of the Valley returned to its former glory. It was as if even the prey knew what was on the horizon. In. Thunderclan truly had its work cut out for them. Out.

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable Per the request of her leader, Vixenleap dove into rough battle training with a fellow experienced warrior. Her passion, unfortunately, got in the way and resulted in things going a little too far. Thankfully the hot-tempered warrior caught herself before things progressed too far on her part, but her clanmate failed to stop himself. The fire-colored female stalked off with stiff legs, anger boiling in her veins and a hot crimson liquid oozing out of her face. The strong, metallic taste of her own blood bathed her tongue, and pain seared across the bridge of her nose where the gaping wound mocked her. Just keep walking, keep walking. If she turned around to rush back to her clanmate, the situation would end badly. Her overwhelming fire powers might overtake and burn the warrior to a crisp out of revenge, and Vixenleap knew she would regret it in the end. She was loyal to her Clan, even if her bloodlines were deeply embedded in the ranks of ShadowClan. She would not allow that to be the judgement of her character. The sticky crimson liquid dripped slowly on the snowy earth, leaving a pink trail of where she ventured. She parted her jaws to breathe in hopes that the pain would subside, but it seemed to only make it intensify. She gritted her teeth and fought through the pain, with her ferocious heart beating as loudly and fast as the hooves of a fleeing stag. It would not let her breathing slow. She had to calm down. Vixenleap stopped in her tracks and froze in her place, save for the slow dripping of blood from the gash on her nose. Ahead was a figure of a cat, so motionless that she thought that leafbare may have solidified them in time for eternity. Her next thoughts went to ShadowClan and a possible intruder, causing her body heat to escalate once more before she forced her hackles flat. It was only her leader. Why was he out here all by his lonesome? He had much more fur than her, so he'd have no troubles with sitting out in the snow for hours, but it didn't seem like him to be skulking around. "Lynxstar?" The obnoxious warrior called out in a quieter tone than usual, simply to make her presence known, "is something bothering you?"@blaze ### notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

20mia08 The soot-colored leader's eyes snapped open at the call of his name, turning his ears toward the call. His head followed soon after and he found himself releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding. It was merely Vixenleap, he realized. His eyes drifted down to the wound she had across her face and his normal scowl softened just a bit. He turned back around, beckoning the female over with his tail. His eyes gazed over the territory once more, letting out a sigh as he did so. It was silent for a long moment before he spoke, " I worry for Thunderclan. There are two clans disrupting the order of life in the Valley and as the bringers of balance and harmony, we must punish them for their crimes. It is our duty and our right, as our ancestors before us have dictated and their ancestors before them. Cats in our clan are beginning to lose their way, forgetting what it means to serve Thunderclan to its fullest potential. I cannot afford to lose anymore warriors. If we are to successfully defeat the Darkclan patrol and learn the whereabouts of our clanmates, we must train to our full potential, but our apprentices, especially our youngest may not be able to handle such a thing.
I also do not want Sagewhisker to waste any herbs that he could use later. I am aware that there are cats who do not agree with how I am, but I simply do not know how to handle our situation any differently." he said, sighing. "Right now, I am practicing something my mentor taught me. She called it meditation, I know not why, but she told me that it brought one peace. Would you like to join me?"

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable "Younger cats may fear war," the red warrior agreed almost thoughtfully, her eyes scanning the horizon as she searched for the proper words. "...but in time, it's something we all come to face and experience. Maybe it isn't always the best solution, but there's no saying it's always preventable." Indeed, a war against ShadowClan meant she would have to face family members, where her roots began. But that didn't mean she wouldn't protect ThunderClan and fight for them with every last breath. What was home wasn't dictated by blood, it was decided by where the heart lied. She removed the obnoxious blood from her nose with an effortless motion of her paw. "But you've every right to ask Sagewhisker to go light on herbs. ThunderClan is hardy, young cats can recover on their own with no complications. It's important that herbs are preserved until leafbare loosens its cold grip on our territory." While Vixenleap was no medicine cat, she understood the hardships of the cold moons. While greencough was likely to run rampant, simple injuries like her own could go ignored. If a cat was responsible enough with cleaning their wounds, they wouldn't have to panic over infection. The warrior hesitated for a few heartbeats. Never before had she spent much time chatting with her leader, instead she typically followed his orders without question. Was it foolish of her? Perhaps, but she was always confident in his abilities and dedicated to serving her clan for eternity. The ruddy warrior took a few steps forward before slowly seating herself beside Lynxstar. Meditation, bringing peace. A sense of calm was something the fiery warrior could most certainly use. It may be useful during those times of high aggression, like the event that had occurred between her and the warrior moments before she came across Lynxstar. "Mediation...I've never heard of it. How do you do it?"@blaze ### notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

20mia08 Lynxstar glanced over at Vixenleap as she sat, righting himself before he checked the she-cats posture. "Normally, the first step would be to find someplace quiet," he said, his booming voice soft and warm. "Away from others, where it is unlikely that you will be interrupted. But since we are already in an isolated place, we can move on. I chose the Life Hollow, because even in my den, some cats simply cannot stay quiet to save a whisker." he said, chuckling a bit. He corrected his posture, laying his tail flat on the ground behind him and lifting his chin. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. "Now," he said, "Sit up straight and relax yourself. Make yourself comfortable, so you don't fall over. Now, gently close your eyes and begin by taking a few deep breaths. In through your nose and out through your mouth. It will feel strange at first, but it will come naturally soon enough." He cracked an eye open, watching the red she-cat carefully. "Now, pick a topic, any topic, and keep it running through your mind. Do not allow your mind to wander away, just a single pathed thought turning over in your head. Allow that thought to evolve into what it will and take a moment to just lost in your thoughts." he said. He could still hear his mentor, saying those exact words to him when he was an apprentice. He'd rolled his eyes then, thinking it was just another hunting lesson or even practicing his sprouting powers. He did miss his mentor dearly and hoped that she rested peacefully and ate well in Starclan but in life, she was simply too cowardly. She did everything she could to avoid a fight and in the rare occasion that she did find herself in a fight, like the occasional border skirmish, she'd do everything in her power to escape. He'd found it quite annoying and often skipped her lessons, training instead with his littermates and their mentors. She'd, of course, told the leader about it, and he'd been punished accordingly, but that didn't mean he regretted it. She was weak and they both knew it, and honestly he was surprised that she made it as long as she did. Life worked in strage ways, he supposed.

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable It was an...unusual situation, but she would show no disrespect towards the leader she so eagerly followed and supported. Relaxation wasn't her thing, in fact, she couldn't remember the last time she permitted herself a break. Vixenleap was always on the go-- it was just how she was, and how she'd always been. As a warrior who was slowly aging, life was short, and only Starclan knew what her time would come. So she never wanted to sit around and wait for it, she just wanted to live her life before it was stolen away from her. But, maybe some time for reflection was necessary, perhaps she'd learn something of value in these spare moments. No point in running off now anyways-- more than likely, she'd just march back up to that warrior who gave her a scratch, and she'd give them something uglier to worry about. Obeying, she took in a deep breath as she straightened herself up, allowing her shoulders to relax as she exhaled. She needed something to think about, but what? Battle training? Burning things? Beating the sense into that warrior from earlier? All too violent, they all left her shifting restlessly and her fur fluffing. This meditation practice was becoming frustrating, and fast. But then, she found it: the chase, the hunt, the thrill of it all. Eyes closed, she recalled the feeling of freedom as the wind raced beside her and ran through her fur, the feeling of solid earth disappearing under her paws as she bolted after prey. To most, it didn't seem like the most tranquil situation to focus on, but to Vixenleap...it was everything. After a long period of silence, she cracked open a single eye to glance in his direction. "Your mentor, she seemed...wise." The red warrior never recalled the she-cat's name, she never knew the cat on a personal level. She was that way with most of her clanmates, anyways. @blaze ### notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

20mia08Lynxstar's eyes snapped open at Vixenleap's comment, his normal scowl settling itself on his face once more. He let out a scoff, "Wise but cowardly. Avoided a fight every single chance she got, never lived the life of a true Thunderclan warrior, the life she was meant to live."He went quiet for a moment, lost in thought. "Thunderclan has no room for weakness, Vixenleap. We must remain strong if we are to punish Darkclan and Shadowclan for their crimes. It is why I decreed that all training be carried out this way until our troubles are over. We must weed out the weak and make way for the strong. We must show them that Thunderclan will be pushed around no longer if we are to survive in the valley." he murmured, almost to himself. Lynxstar turned to the she-cat, rising to his full height. He looked down at his golden eyes burning brightly. "Vixenleap, there are not as many cats that there used to be, that are as devoted as you. I repect your ambition and for that I acknowledge you as a noble and respected warrior." he said, looking her straight in the eye. "I would like to offer you a position as training organizer, but first, I must see how well your own training has gone."He turned and began walking to the center of the Life Hollow, turning around and setting himself in a defensive stance. "I want you to try to pin me, Vixenleap. Do not hold back, I expect a challenge."

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable Hmph. Maybe he didn't like his mentor as she had expected. However, as he continued, he increasingly piqued her interest, but not exactly in a way that might be anticipated. What did he mean by "weeding out the weak"? Leaning in with her eyes almost narrowed, the ruddy warrior wrapped her wiry tail around her paws tightly, sounding almost defensive as she responded to Lynxstar. "...And what do you mean by 'weeding out the weak'? You wouldn't be applying that to your own warriors, would you?" If he was referring to ShadowClan and DarkClan-- fine, she'd happily beat the stuffing out of ThunderClan enemies. But if he wanted to rid ThunderClan of loyal warriors? The patriotic she-cat would not sit by and watch him. While she was all for a good fight, Vixenleap believed that all warriors of her Clan could contribute to their cause in different ways. Not all cats were built upon strength, others relied on their agility to outmaneuver their enemy, something she found to be equally as important. Her loyalty was to her Clan...that didn't necessarily mean she had to do what Lynxstar thought was right. "Noble and respected? Oh please, Lynxstar, don't make me blush." The comment immediately broke whatever tense air she had remaining, an almost cocky smile cracking across her features as she rose in a semi-stretch. The aging warrior had been called many things in her lifetime, some not appropriate to discuss in front of her leader. But noble? That was far from it. She was what she was named after-- a sly fox. If cheating was necessary to ensure her success over some ShadowClan cat in combat, then so be it. But, a training organizer? Vixenleap was flattered by his offer, but her combat style was much more similar to that of her unfavorable heritage, rather than a typical ThunderClan brute. Her muscles were thin and compact, giving her a lighter weight than her clanmates. Indeed, sparring against her was wise, it would give a warrior a good taste of what was to come, should war with ShadowClan be inevitable. But her methods of fighting weren't ideal for a ThunderClan warrior. "Alright, Lynxstar. I accept your challenge."Was she interested in accepting the position he had offered? Perhaps not. Right now, her priority was trying to kick Lynxstar's tail. How often was one presented with the opportunity to have a skirmish with the leader himself? Surely Lynxstar had a real punch behind him-- he wouldn't be leader of ThunderClan for nothing. Her approach was swift as lightning, darting at him head-on in an instant. The fiery warrior would not hesitate to strike at him, but not in the blunt fashion of a ThunderClan cat. She was rash, but Vixenleap was still clever, and she was well aware that she'd stand no chance against the black smoke tom head-on. Darting to the side, she decided to be somewhat of a...cheater. Hopefully, he wouldn't mind too much. With a quick parting of her jaws, Vixenleap closed her mouth around the thick of Lynxstar's tail and gave him a mighty, rude tug to pull him off balance and hopefully give her the upper hand. @blaze ### the brat likes to fight dirty. Lynxstar blinked. "Of course not. Weak, as in those who do not have Thunderclan's best interests at heart. Weak, as in those who destroy to make themselves seem strong. Weak, as in those who take more and more and demand payment for their crimes," the smoked tom said, his voice growing stronger and more heated with each passing heartbeat. He caught himself before he could start on another one of his rants and took a breath, in and out. He wasn't here to debate, he remembered, he was here to train. "My clan only deserves the best treatment as the ones who control the ground they walk on, and I will not stand idly by as they destroy the peace Thunderclan has worked hard to achieve for all clans."
Lynxstar thrust out a paw, hoping to catch Vixenleap between his paws and press her against the ground with his weight, but his claws only met with air. A low growl made his way to his throat as she darted to the side. His claws dug into the ground as she tugged at his tail, thrusting a back paw out behind him as he whipped his tail back and forth. He leapt into the air, turning himself around and flinging clumps of snow and dirt at the she-cat, hoping that he hit his target before backing up a bit.
He dug his claws into ground again, willing that the grass below sprout up into roots high enough to wrap around one's legs and the ground obeyed, as it always did. He willed the roots to shoot out towards Vixenleap and he watched in bemused interest as they obeyed. "I hope that you are as good as dodging as you are at attacking!" he yowled out.

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable Hm, he was alright, then. But peace, peace was a rare object around the clans, and while there were moments when time seemed to stand still and troubles seemed little, absolute peace was impossible. Chaos was part of life, part of nature, and it seemed that ThunderClan could only adapt and guide those who couldn't see that. Attempting to keep the peace among the other clans was vital, it was ThunderClan's calling, but sometimes it seemed to only make matters worse. But she had no place in such a discussion-- she was just a patriotic ThunderClan cat who would happily but her throat on the line. She recoiled when the snow, ice, and dirt mixture impacted her face. She instinctually squeezed her pale eyes shut to protect them from damage, ears pinned as she pulled her head in the opposite direction in which the waste was coming from. Promptly Vixenleap shook her head to remove any remaining debris, sending a hot glare in her leader's direction, only for a shockingly pleased grin to follow. So, this "righteous" leader of hers truly was capable of playing dirty as well, eh? She almost grew a morsel of newfound respect for him. The freezing dirt and ice left her face stinging, and the bridge of her nose swiftly grew boiling hot as sticky fluid began to flow down it once more. "Dear Lynxstar, do you doubt me? Personally, I didn't expect a fluffball like yourself to be capable of moving so swiftly on his paws." Muscsles tight and hungering for more, she eagerly awaited his next move. Her instincts and reflexes ordered her to jump, and although they almost always prevailed, she moved just a hair too slowly. As she began to leap away, a single tendril snagged her by the paw. With the faintest pop, pain seared through the muscle in her paw, and the leg begged that wait not be put on it. Damn leg would just have to deal with it, she had business to tend to. Forced back onto the ground, the red warrior huffed at him before her frustrated expression melted into something more smug. The the temperature of the air surrounding the russet she-cat began to skyrocket until sparks emitted from her presence, allowing her to scorch the flora that grasped her. "Were you never taught to not mess with fire?" She was just itching to boast her Fire Claws ability and start that thick coat of his on fire. But, that was a little risky, both to Lynxstar and herself. So instead, with her sparks flying from her body, she decided to leap onto Lynxstar and give him a big hot "hug" to his back, and see how long he could tolerate her increasing temperature. Would he ignite? Maybe, but she was confident that the surrounding snow and frozen earth could extinguish him if things got out of hand. @blaze ### notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Lynxstar watched in bemused interest as Vixenleap dodged his attacks, giving a small huff at her remark about his fur. It wasn't his fault the clans were dominated by dwarfs, she just had the misfortune of being mouse sized.
As did everyone else.
But, he did not comment; instead, he began speeding up his attacks and keeping his eyes on the warrior.
His eyes slid down to her leg as she stumbled, raising an eye ridge as she suppressed a wince. He considered stopping the training for a moment, to merely see if she was ok, but shook his head. She was strong, she could take it. And if not, they could simply go to Sagewhisker and fix her up. It wouldn't make a difference either way, she'd be fine eventually. He did, however, get uneasy as she smiled at him, her fang gleaming in the light of the hollow. What was she happy about?
He blinked; for he did not know, but he did raise his guard.
His eyes widened as she leapt at him, with him unable to jump out of the way in time. She wrapped herself around his back and began using her fire on his back. He winced as the heat penetrated his thick pelt, baring his fangs as a growl escaped his throat. He flipped onto his back, letting out a sigh of relief as the snow eased the heat, even if by a little. He rolled back onto to paws, looking down at Vixenleap, before placing a firm paw on her stomach. "You were saying?" he said, looking down at her with a smug smile.

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable In life, there was always a sort of "balance" born from opposites. When something went up, gravity always brought it back down. When a flame grows too large and becomes uncontrollable, there's always water to quench it. That being said, there was always a risk with an action, and Vixenleap had assessed her risks, but the potential to fry Lynxstar had outweighed the negatives. She was aware of his large size, and StarClan knew what could be hiding under that thick coat of his. A ton of more weight to crush her with, perhaps. As he came crashing down, her worst prediction had come into play. Yes, Lynxstar wasn't at risk for bursting into flames now, but his massive size was about to crush her skull and force her eyes to pop out of their cavities. He didn't need his coat to burn, he needed to burn calories. Squirming underneath the leader as the air was forced from her lungs at the impact, Vixenleap tried to fight for her freedom. Poor judgement and a little too high of hopes on her part had cost her the skirmish. Yes, she had lost, and she accepted her defeat...but the fact that she got to spar with Lynxstar? That made her victorious over all of her clanmates. She would only grow stronger from this failure. One day, she'd be the one standing over him. "I let you win." The red warrior lied with a small, sarcastic huff. "Let me up before I smear my nose blood all over your little paws."MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

20mia08Lynxstar's whiskers gave a small twitch as he looked down at the she-cat, deciding to take his sweet time, sitting down right beside her while he kept a single paw on her form. He gave her a hum, his golden eyes rolling as he lifted his paw. "My little paws cover half of your leg, Vixenleap, so if I am small, you must be mouse sized. But continue, I suppose," he said, grooming his paw. He paid her no mind as he continued straightening his fur, giving himself a good shake before he turned to her once more. "A little blood in one's fur has never hurt anyone, especially from one's nose." he said, giving her a side glance. He got to his paws and stode past her, his tail waving lazily behind him. "Let us go back to camp so that Sagewhisker may treat your wound. It would not do you any good if it somehow got infected, would it now?" he called over his shoulder, stiding away.

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable What was he doing, fussing over his fur and paws? He wasn't allowed to ignore and undermine her, leader or not! A stubborn, challenging huff escaped her parted jaws as she glared up at the massive smoke feline, her narrowed eyes screaming a desire to knock him off his high horse. "Must be compensating for something." She muttered under her breath, a self-satisfied smirk appearing beneath the drying blood on her face. As Lynxstar strode off, the red warrior immediately rose to her paws in a swift roll, desperately wanting to tear into him more. However, against her roaring adrenaline that edged her onto in the urge to fight again, pain began to ebb its way into the back of her mind. Inwardly, she wanted to limp as she walked, to save herself from the pain in her leg, but she refused to show any signs of weakness in his presence. She was great, and Vixenleap would make him see that. "Fine, then. Let's return to camp." She agreed with him nevertheless, trailing after her leader with an irritable twitch of her tail. Every ounce of her wanted to leap onto his back and tear into him while he wasn't expecting it, but she fought down the urge. She'd have her go at him again in the future, she was sure of it. She wouldn't be satisfied with this defeat...draw. Maybe it was more of a draw. ...And maybe the way he got so sassy was kinda cute. END? MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
