20mia08 Shadowcat The sun rose gently over the Valley, its golden rays casting a soft light over Thunderclan camp. Drowsily, Lynxstar emerged from his den, a rare smile gracing his face as he looked out from beyond his den entrance. Yes, today was a day for celebration, for in his quest of justice, he'd forgotten one of Thunderclan's most important events; picking its next leaders. He'd had his eye on one candidate and he was quite sure Briarsong had done the same. Now, all was left to do was officially take Newtpaw as his apprentice and allow Briarsong to take an apprentice of her own choosing. He'd spoken to Newtpaw's previous mentor just yesterday about the apprentice in question, and they didn't seem in the slightest bit upset, from what he could tell. If fact they seemed almost overjoyed. They always knew Newtpaw would accomplish great things, they'd told him. He had his suspicions that they were happy for a different reason, but he decided not to dwell on it. He had a ceremony to hold. Quickly trotting over to the warriors den, he peeked his head in and whispered loud enough for Briarsong to hear, "Come to your post at the High Rock. It is time for the ceremony," before trotting back to the center of camp, his tail held high, nodding greeting to the warrior standing guard at the entrance. He leapt onto the High Rock, sitting down gracefully and wrapping his tail around his paws. Perhaps this was what was needed to raise spirits again. He yowled out, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting!" and waited for the clan to file out.

Owlpaw stretched in the weak morning light, his jaws parting in a sleepy yawn. Settling down in front of the apprentice's den, the small gray cat watched as the camp came to life. Cats of all ages milled around, leaving for patrols or exchanging new with their clanmates. His sharp green eyes caught sight of dark gray pelt emerging from the leader's den, Lynxstar. The Thunderclan leader had a smile on his muzzle, a sight seldom seen by others. The apprentice watched as he said something into the warrior's den, perhaps needing one of them for something. He seemed to be more friendly to other cats today, loping gracefully towards the High Rock. An announcement perhaps? Owlpaw watched as the large tom leaped onto the rock, calling for a clan meeting. Padding over, the apprentice sat somewhere in the center of where his clanmates were gathering. Each of them seeming to be murmuring to each other, wondering what the news was.

Fernbreeze's ear twitched in groggy confusion as she slowly came to her senses. She barely registered Lynxstar's voice before she grumbled in annoyance as other warriors began filing out of the warrior's den, shoving into her in the process. She allowed a low growl to rip itself out of her throat, before she forced herself to start the day. Glaring at the sun as she left the den, she went to find herself a spot before her leader, a cranky scowl stuck on her face.
She liked to think that she was quite a pleasant cat during most of the day. Her former mentor and her brother, Liontail, could both vouch the fact. Yet, when it came to mornings, all bets were off. She still hadn't gotten accustomed to the aspect of waking near the crack of dawn. She'd been told many a time that she could be as cranky as a kit during the first lights of the day, but she'd merely laugh it off or apologize for any offhanded remarks she'd make in her dazed state.
Maybe that's why she wasn't put on the dawn patrol that often.
In any case, there was clearly a ceremony about to take place, so she gave herself a good shake and forced herself to wake up.

Newtpaw The apprentice had been up long before a majority of the Clan to attend the dawn patrol. She was almost annoyingly eager to attend, at least in the eye of her fellow apprentices who did not share her love for mornings. Newtpaw returned with her mentor and the remainder of the patrol just in the nick of time, with the pointed apprentice noticing that Lynxstar was making his way towards the meeting place. She narrowed her eyes curiously at the rare sight of what seemed to be a faint smile on the leader's face. Good news? With her attention now caught, the long-legged she-cat marched towards High Rock with her ears perked with interest. She was oblivious to the adventures that destiny would now have in store for her, with her entire life about to change within one simple meeting. Practically forgetting her manners and feeling utter guilt for doing so, she half-turned while skipping away to thank her mentor and bid them farewell. Little did Newtpaw know, the dawn patrol was her final act as a warrior-apprentice. With a warm smile in response to the calls of her friends, the chocolate she-cat approached a crowd of three female apprentices with a few swift strides. She seated herself beside them after exchanging greetings, allowing herself to quiet down and patiently await Lynxstar's announcement. Did they have some secret advantage over DarkClan? Were there new apprentices? New warriors? Blaze

bRIARSONG wAKE UP cOME ON AND GET A LITTLE LIGHTNING sO SORRY! tHOUGHT i RESPONDED ALREADY WHOOPS
Briarsong was curled up in her nest, sleeping soundly despite the morning chill. Her thick coat had kept her warm over night with the help of her Clanmates asleep in the den as well. She was thankful to be safe and sound in ThunderClan within the shelter of the trees. Her ears pricked up as she heard Lynxstar speak. She stretched out her limbs before standing up. She shook out any loose moss, leaves and lichens that clung to her pelt.
The tortoiseshell she-cat gave her pelt a thorough cleaning, then left the warriors' den. She couldn't help but feel excited, though she kept her emotions contained. She knew exactly which apprentice she wanted to choose to be her successor. She'd been watching them carefully ever since they were apprenticed after all.
She took her place by the High Rock and wrapped her long, feathery tail around her paws as she waited for Lynxstar to speak.

Lynxstar waited a few heartbeats for everyone to settle down before he spoke, giving a sidelong glace at Briarsong and giving her a small nod. He took on a prideful stance, looking at each of his warriors in the eyes as he did so. "As we all know, our conflict between Darkclan and Shadowclan grows with each passing day. I thank you all for your cooperation and unwavering loyalty during this trying time. Thunderclan will emerge victorious from this trying time, and we will continue to train accordingly. However, more pressing matters concern me at the moment, therefore it is my duty to address them." he said, looking over his clan. " As most of you may know, it is an ancient Thunderclan tradition to hold a ceremony for the leader and deputy to choose their successors and the next leaders of Thunderclan. The time has come for us to continue this joyous ceremony and train the future leaders of Thunderclan. I have paw-chosen my own successor and I am quite sure Briarsong has done the same. And with no further ado,"He rose to his paws, leaping off of the High Rock and landing before the crowd of warriors. He looked at the apprentice, his tail waving lazily behind him. "Newtpaw, please step forward." he said. 20mia08

So don't let me down Keep me in trouble #### | Blaze When Lynxstar began to drone on about the endless quarrels with DarkClan, the chocolate apprentice found herself shifting uncomfortably. She felt anxious about the whole ordeal, almost a little excited to get her experience with her first battle. But at the same time, her mature and level-headed half knew that things could end horribly. Lynxstar had to have had a lot of pressure baring down on his shoulders, with the lives of countless warriors in his paws. Even her own life. War was like a rite of passage for a young apprentice, but death was still something to be reckoned with. Judgement wasn't always too kind.
When Lynxstar began to talk about 'ancient tradition', her mind immediately snapped away from the thoughts of DarkClan. Tradition, old stories, old cats-- she absolutely adored them all. To her, they were to be treated with upmost respect, and something that had to be passed on. Wars and debts that needed to be settled, they were something that would always exist and accidentally be passed on from on cat to another. But ancient traditions and secrets? They were something that should be prized, never forgotten. Because in a single, unfortunate day, all could be lost.
The successor! She had almost forgotten...sort of. Newtpaw was confident that she, herself, would be a worthy candidate. After all, she was one of the most popular and best among the apprentices, Lynxstar couldn't possibly turn a blind eye, especially since she already held the respect of a handful of warriors. Indeed, she'd make a wonderful commander! And very conceited of her to think so. Of course, she did have a few other apprentices in mind, including C-
Ah-ha, it was her!
Rising to her paws, Newtpaw kept herself cool and composed, doing her best to swallow her excitement and pride and remain mature, as she often aspired to do. She enjoyed being popular, but above other things, she loved to be a role model to others. It made her feel...complete, needed, like a necessary component to a successful system. Confidently and as smooth as an adder, Newtpaw stepped forward, standing just a hair taller than her fellow apprentices as she snaked through the parting cats to meet Lynxstar.
She knew she'd remember this day until the end of times.

Lynxstar's golden eyes landed on the small apprentice as she made her way towards his massive frame. His whiskers twitch as she stood before him, an amused smirk nearly making his way onto his face as he forced him mouth into a line - she didn't need to be so stiff! Still, a ceremony needed to be performed and it was his duty to perform it. So he stood, his tail waving behind him.
He spoke, his voice carrying around camp, "Newtpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and the laws of Thunderclan, to become the next judge of the clan, and the upholder of all the life in Thunderclan territory? Do you promise to follow the Thunderclan way, to find the balance of life and death, right and wrong? Do you promise to oversee the clan, to lead Thunderclan into a prosperous life?"

So don't let me down Keep me in trouble #### | Blaze The apprentice's den would be buzzing with activity later that night, there would be endless gossip and an earful of boasting on Newtpaw's part. Only a hypocrite could scowl at her for doing so, who wouldn't be insanely proud and excited of such an accomplishment? It was a complete game-changer, possibly even a dream-come-true for her. Only StarClan would know what the future had in store for her now, maybe she'd even make Lynxstar proud by one day defeating DarkClan, or at least setting them straight.
She swore that she could even catch a glimpse of a small grin on Lynxstar's features. Was he pleased with his choice? Was he confident that she'd serve him well as his successor? She sure hoped so. From this day forward, it would be Newtpaw's goal to fill his heart with triumph and honor, so that he may one day retire or pass on knowing that he put ThunderClan in the right paws. She would make serve them well, and she'd do so until her last dying breath.
"I do. I swear upon my own life to serve ThunderClan ably, to bring gratification to my ancestors and to leave our future warriors in a sound home."

"Then by the power vested in me, I, Lynxstar of Thunderclan, claim you, Newtpaw, as my very own apprentice. May Starclan guide both of our paws." Lynxstar said, resting his muzzle atop the she-cat's head. He allowed her time to lick his shoulder, as was customary for all apprentices, before he stepped back. He looked down at Newtpaw, his normal scowl placing itself in his face. "Training shall begin early tomorrow morning. For today, we celebrate and rest ourselves for what is to come." he whispered before he turned back to the High Rock, leaping up to the top to continue the ceremony. He waited for the camp to settle down before he turned to his deputy. "Briarsong, it is now your turn to select your own apprentice. I have no doubt you have chosen well." he said, dipping his head to her. Jinx((sorry this took so long ^^'))

- Wake up! Come on and catch a little lightning! -
Briarsong took a deep breath as she realized it was her time to speak. Lynxstar had made a wise choice. She knew her choice would hopefully balance out his. She tried thinking back to the words she had heard many moons ago. "Owlpaw, please step forward." She called.
She looked into the apprentice's eyes and offered him a warm look of pride. She knew he would be a great successor for her. "Owlpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and ThunderClan law, to become the future guardian and paw to the leader? Do you promise to uphold justice and support your leader through everything, despite potential disagreements in judgment, to be the balance to them?" She asked. Being deputy was a daunting task. She hoped she could train Owlpaw to have the wisdom and knowledge he'd need to be the perfect deputy for Newtpaw when their time came. word count, notes, n stuff

A leader apprentice? He had heard of it before as a kit, Owlpaw was glad that Newtpaw was chosen, he had watched her train every day, she worked hard to achieve her goals. Although he felt a slight pang of jealousy, he knew that Lynxstar had made a wise choice. Listening to the ceremony reminded him of the threat of war that were Shadowclan and Darkclan. He needed to work harder if he wanted to protect his clan. As Newtpaw's ceremony was finished, he was filled with anticipation for the deputy apprentice ceremony, perhaps he would have a shot at getting the role. Briarsong spoke, and the words he heard were almost too good to be true. Yes! It was him! Quickly standing up, he strode forward with his chest puffed out, this was important, he was important. A surge of happiness filled him as the Thunderclan deputy looked at him with pride. She spoke and he replied, "I do." Those two simple words sealed his fate, and he knew that he would preform his duty well.
