Ashsong Warrior (Storm) | Light was barely spilling over the horizon, and the only colors to be shown in the sky barely hinted of sunrise. Navigating RiverClan's terrain was difficult at the time, but her paws never failed her. They led her straight and true. Almost all of her clanmates had been asleep, save for the warrior standing guard at camp's entrance to protect the oblivious snoozing forms. They only cast her a semi-questionable glance as she left, but interacted with her no further. All cats of RiverClan understood that Ashsong was married to her duty, so activity at any time of day (or night) was usual for her.
She had to prove herself to RiverClan, she had to.
And there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them, even patrol at unimaginable hours of the night all by herself. The storm element didn't have any friends for herself, anyways. Ever since the death of her dear sister, Reedpaw, she was all on her own. Save for her storm-element-mentor, Wildspark, but she hadn't talked to him recently. Besides, all of this was also for him. Even if Ashsong was still struggling to gain control of her unpredictable storm element, she would prove herself to RiverClan and make her mentor incredibly proud. That was all she wanted in life at the moment: to make them proud.
Ashsong had no interest in being either leader or deputy, her goal in life was simple: to be the best warrior her Clan had ever seen. Here, she was confident that she would accomplish it, even if she wasn't a water element. With enough time and dedication, surely she could master anything. That even included winning over the hearts of those stubborn RiverClan cats.
Pausing, Ashsong realized that the border was near. She was yet to cross it, nor did she have any intention of doing so. She didn't anticipate seeing any unfriendly faces, anyways. The hour was psychotic, and only she was crazy enough to be out at such a time.
...right?

Featherpaw knew she shouldn't be out of camp, yet, the outside territory had seemed so welcoming... Thankfully, the guard posted at camp had not questioned where she was going, with a missing mentor and the rest of camp at sleep, the apprentice knew she would be able to get away with it. Fallen snow crunched softly under her paws, the fluffy tabby coat she possessed kept the cat warm and untouched by the chill. The beautiful colors of sunrise were barely appearing over the horizon, letting her know how much time she had until the she-cat would need to be back at camp. Darkclan was her new family, full of accepting cats who were like her, allowing her to forget the past she left behind. Although she understood why other clans were wary of them, the apprentice still felt as if it was unfair. Why was it their fault to be born the way they were? The sight of another cat suddenly caused her to freeze. Was it a clanmate? No, their scent was Riverclan. She hadn't realized that she had wandered so close to the border. Not daring to move, in case of being detected, she inspected the she-cat more closely. They were tall, with a pretty light-brown tabby pelt and startling beautiful eyes, their name was... Ashsong? The apprentice may have seen her from across the border before, during a patrol before the strange flash of light... Crunch. Without realizing, Featherpaw had stepped loudly into the snow, her eye's darted to the Riverclan cat. Had they heard? She hoped not. 20mia08

Ashsong Warrior (Storm) | In WindClan, should she have been seen outside of camp at this time of hour, there'd be trouble awaiting her. Most were already suspicious and hostile towards her because of her unique element (and relative lack of control over it)...not to mention that her mother was from ShadowClan, and not the greatest cat in the five clans. While WindClan had no real dispute with ShadowClan at the moment, it didn't necessarily mean that all WindClan cats were ok with them. Everyone had their personal opinion(s). And unfortunately for Ashsong, most of those "opinions" didn't rule in her favor. Well, they didn't matter anymore, regardless of how much her father tried to force her to return to her birth clan. All of her focus would be on RiverClan and her duties from now on, and she would prove herself a worthy warrior. She would die trying, if needed. The sound of a crunch snapped Ashsong from her thoughts, and immediately the darker hair along the mocha warrior's spine rose. Desperate to prove her loyalty to her clan, she turned in the direction of the sound immediately, prepared to drive this intruder off with force if necessary. She wouldn't think twice about resorting to bloodshed, if this cat didn't get the message. But kill? No...not yet. RiverClan might frown upon that, and Ashsong wasn't exactly immoral.
Oh. It was just an apprentice. With her hair still bristling, the young warrior allowed herself to straighten and stand taller to add to the intimidation factor. The DarkClan cat was small, and the RiverClan warrior a natural giant, so stretching taller probably wasn't required, but she did it anyways. It was natural now, almost a form of self-defense after her previous treatment in WindClan. Speaking of which...she was relieved that this cat hailed from DarkClan, and not from Ashsong's original home. Although, it was awfully strange for an apprentice to be out so late, especially alone. She wasn't across the border, so the apprentice wasn't a threat...yet. "...I wouldn't think DarkClan would allow it's young apprentices to wander around at late hours alone."Shadowcat |

Featherpaw hissed under her breath, she knew she shouldn't have left camp. Here she was, at the border, getting caught by a Riverclan cat! Oh if only she had listened to her mentor's advice... She shrunk back slightly, wanting to seem unthreatening to the larger she-cat. Their height seemed to have risen, sending out a menacing aura. "Ah well, I didn't think that Riverclan would let it's warriors out so late either." She flinched slightly, knowing how rude she must sound like. "Your name is Ashsong right? I think that's a nice name." The compliment was true, although she may have just made it worse. Shuffling her paws slightly, she hoped that she wouldn't seem too scared, not wanting to look weak. "H-have you always lived in Riverclan? It must be nice there..." Featherpaw was attempting to be polite, but she might be prying too much. The apprentice hoped that the warrior wouldn't report her, she didn't want to disappoint Ravenstar and the rest of her clan... She looked up at the spreading colors of dawn, hoping that it wouldn't be the last one she would spend as a member of Darkclan.

Ashsong Warrior (Storm) | Was this puny outsider trying to tell her the general rules of her clan? She would not be criticized from an apprentice living in a rebellious clan that was on the brink of war and possible destruction. Ashsong released a ferocious hiss to warn the DarkClan cat that she was walking on cobweb-thin ice, and the warrior with ill-control over her storm element wouldn't hesitate to terminate this mite...even if it was against the code. Hmph, and wouldn't make her look too good in the eyes of RiverClan...and she was trying to redeem herself, after all. So maybe she wouldn't squash this kid, at least not today. The long-furred warrior huffed, and even if it continued to be a sign of aggression, it wasn't nearly as hostile as her previous hiss. Featherpaw should even consider it a "good" sign, a glimpse of mercy from Ashsong. "A warrior can leave without another to go hunting at their leisure, they have learned discipline and self-defense. Apprentices are apprentices for a reason, they must be monitored...never know when they might wander off and later turn up gutted like a perch." Ok, maybe she wasn't the greatest with words, but RiverClan was the best in her eyes. And this apprentice from DarkClan certainly wouldn't receive the superior knowledge of a RiverClan cat, so she was only spreading the...love. "And I don't think Ravenstar would appreciate me dropping you off at her doorstep like a little messy gift."Compliments now? Clearly, Ashsong had left an impression like she had intended to...good, she liked that. This little cat wouldn't go on forgetting her anytime soon, and perhaps she'd learn to hold a level of respect for the RiverClan warrior. Maybe she even learned something, at this unusual time of night. The looseness and signs of relaxation that Ashsong had briefly shown were immediately replaced by a stone-cold soberness as her residency was brought up. "RiverClan was not by birthclan, but blood means nothing. My heart beats for them, and that's all that matters."Shadowcat |

She felt a faint sense of relief when the Riverclan warrior seemed to calm down, her hopes were quickly squashed as she realized her mistake. Oh, why had she asked such a personal question? "Ah, I'm sorry for asking. It's just... I was not born into Darkclan. Many cats come from different clans, I guess I'm just interested in everyone's story. It's okay if you don't want to talk about your past, what matters is the present!" Featherpaw faltered slightly, a pang of sadness resonated in her heart. "That was something my mentor told me... before they vanished." Quickly shaking herself out of the cloud of gloom, giving a bright smile to the older she-cat, "Just know that there will always be someone you can talk to!" Although how naive she may sound, the apprentice knew that it was the only thing she could do in this situation. A ray of warmth caused her to glance up, spotting the ravishing colors of dawn spreading across the sky. "I need to go, it was fun talking to you!" The gray tabby gave a last smile to the warrior before turning away. Phew, that could have turned out a lot worse... Maybe just an chance encounter, but Featherpaw believed that everything happened with the will of Starclan. 20mia08(Do you want to end it soon?)

Ashsong Warrior (Storm) | Hmph, well, it was humbling to know that DarkClan taught its apprentices decent morals, but it was also painful to listen to. If all DarkClan did was focus on verbal speech with its apprentices, they certainly wouldn't stand a chance against the wrath of ThunderClan. They were meant to be warriors, loyal to their clan and willing to resort to tooth-and-claw whenever necessary. They weren't raised to be philanthropists. And if that was the idea in which DarkClan built their foundation upon...forming their own clan was an absolute waste of time. Besides, that was cowardly WindClan's job. By StarClan, how could this apprentice possibly be so bubbly when her clan was at the risk of war, when all of her friends could be terminated in a blink of an eye? Shouldn't she be focusing on training, or something? Indeed, it was very, very early dawn, but that had never stopped Ashsong as an apprentice. After all, she had little choice, it was either work hard to try and get control, or die from a lack of control over her storm element. "I am loyal to RiverClan. I will not mingle with outsiders and risk murdering my reputation once again." The tabby warrior finished firmly with a raise of her chin. If she didn't have a cold as warm as the ice on the coolest day of leafbare, she might actually be touched by Featherpaw's offering. But Ashsong had been hardened long, long ago. "Mhmm." As the apprentice trotted off, Ashsong turned and slinked further back into her clan's territory, prepared to return home and start the day all over again. Work, work, eat, work, and repeat. ((I'm fine with ending it!)) Shadowcat |
