[googlefont=Libre Baskerville] The Stranger I know what you want and why The sun shone through the clouds and fell gently on the ground beneath her paws. The ice season appeared to be coming to an end soon. The snow was slowly starting to melt and prey were beginning to return to the hunting grounds. She was too young to remember what the sunny season was like. Her memories were clouded when she tried to remember her kithood. She could remember she was born in the wet season, or at least around that time, and that she grew up in the sunny and cold seasons. Her father considered her grown up by the time the ice season began and left her to live on her own.
She didn't have many fond memories of him. He was her only parent as far as she could remember. Her mother left, or at least that's what he told her. She was no fool. She knew he was a liar. He had done something to her, but he refused to tell her what it was. She was glad he was gone.
She stopped once she reached a body of water. A creek perhaps? No, it seemed too big to be a creek. It was a river, but it wasn't frozen. That was unusual. There were stones that allowed her to reach the island in the center. Her eyes fell on the massive stone pillars that stood on the ground on the island. They didn't seem completely natural. It was like someone or something had put them there. Was this the land her father spoke of in his stories? He had told her to never venture to the valley. He spoke of hills and mountains, rivers and waterfalls, forests and prairies. It was always a fascinating place until he spoke of the dangers. He always spoke ill of the cats who lived in the valley. She was curious about the tales. Perhaps these crazed, horrific cats knew more about the strange abilities she possessed. Maybe it was best if she didn't learn about them at all. After all, her abilities had killed her littermates. She didn't want to cause anyone more harm. Her father taught her how to keep it from killing herself, but that was all he taught her. She knew he had the abilities as well, as she saw him use them in cruel ways to other cats. She was never interested in hurting anyone.
The lynx-point molly crossed the river on the cold, wet stones that made a path. Once she arrived in the center, her eyes widened in fascination. There were strange coloured markings on the stone pillars. There weren't a lot, and they appeared very vividly, as if they were just recently added to the pillars. She pressed her paw against one of the strange markings curiously, but they felt no different than the pillars themselves. What a peculiar place. She was intruiged.
The smell of another cat had her hackles raise immediately. She was used to the harsh place in the mountains outside of the valley. It was kill or be killed. She got ready for a fight, but the molly clearly wasn't capable of taking on a stronger cat. She wasn't very strong to begin with.

Stormstar
Why had his paws taken him here on this day? He had served his clan as leader for only a few days now, with his term as deputy having been nearly equally as short. It was a burden, and every waking hour was the start of a new adventure, with new and increasingly difficult challenges. Sometimes, Stormstar feared he'd be incapable, he worried that his warriors would lose their faith in him and remove him on their own. But a good leader couldn't doubt his warriors, not for a heartbeat. No, he'd do this. One day at a time.
The leader had found himself wandering from the relentless thoughts of RiverClan threat badgering him with every step. The smoke tom flattened his ears, as if hoping that it would block out the thoughts, but like always, the effort failed him. Instead, pacing around WindClan territory seemed to help. But before he knew it, Stormstar almost...lost his way. One thing became another, and he discovered that he had made his way to Five Stones. Thoughts of his chatting with Ravenstar plagued his mind, and a feeling of guilt made his belly feel heavy. DarkClan was not his enemy, nor was it WindClan's at the moment, but the thought of talking with another leader outside of typical clan business made him feel...disloyal. Indeed, that was when he was a warrior, and he only viewed the dark molly as an acquaintance, perhaps a friend.
Was he hoping that he'd see her? Stormstar couldn't determine that. But when he spotted someone else, he felt his heart begin to race like the pounding paws of a kit, racing over to an elder at the speed of light for a good tale. He did not feel hostile nor aggressive, instead an overwhelming sense of anxiety swept over his entire being. At first, he was concerned that this stranger would be a warrior of RiverClan...then word would spread of the WindClan leader having a run-in with RiverClan cats, so-on-so-forth, relations might worsen.
...although this might be an even poorer situation.
She did not smell of WindClan, RiverClan, ThunderClan, ShadowClan...not even DarkClan.
She was not one of them.
Stormstar parted his jaws to call to the stranger, to try to determine whether or not she was a threat to WindClan's safety (or for all of Clans' safety, really), but he couldn't manage to muster up the correct words. He was a brand new leader, he was ridden with anxiety, and this situation was completely new to him, maybe to everybody.
"I...who are you?"

[googlefont=Libre Baskerville] The Stranger You're the strangest that I've seen The stranger waved her tail cautiously at the newcomer and flattened her fur. She didn't want to be seen as a threat. This cat was far from familiar to her. They didn't appear to be anything like the loners and rogues she had encountered in her lifetime. They didn't appear to have a collar and they were way too far from the tallwalkers to be a housecat. She was curious about this cat. She wondered if they were native to these lands, and if they may have any ideas on where these strange markings came from. She was also interested in seeing if this was truly the valley that her father spoke of. She might have the wrong place, and she didn't want to waste her time when she could be continuing her journey of discovery.
The cat spoke and asked who she was. The stranger twitched her ears and stayed silent for a while. She wasn't sure what to say. She'd never really spoken with other cats before, nor had she trusted any either. Giving her name could be risky. If she angered this cat in any way, and if he had friends, her life could easily be on the line. That was not a risk she was willing to take. She didn't plan on dying before seeing the truth behind her father's lies. "First, you." She simply meowed. It was clear even by the way she spoke that was not from around the valley if her scent wasn't enough. "Trust easily, I will not. 've travelled too far to fall prey to others, have I."
She did not intend on being an easy target.

Stormstar
He was growing hesitant about the encounter, wishing that he hadn't confronted her so soon and so impulsively. The tom would have much rather hung back to assess his situation, but that curiosity that was such a characteristic to WindClan had driven him forward too soon. If this stranger truly wasn't from around here, and didn't have the elemental abilities typical of a native clan cat...she could spell trouble for both herself and for WindClan. This had never happened before, from what Stormstar was aware. And Heatherstar had never been able to prepare him for such a scenario. If a clan like ThunderClan learned for her whereabouts, StarClan knows what might just happen to her. Above that, if ThunderClan learned that WindClan welcomed her in...
He had to send her away!
But what they could learn from her...?
...
She might be too valuable to lose.
"I-I suppose we are the hosts, it would only be fair to introduce myself first." He responded quickly, trying to sound as confident in his skin as possible. He knew nothing about this stranger, and for all he could know, she'd have a handful of "friends" eager to infiltrate the clans. Physical combat was not in his interest, so for now, he could only be cautious. He would have to establish himself as a power, a respectable head of his clan that she would hopefully have no interest in engaging with in conflict.
"My name is Stormstar, and I lead WindClan. While you stand on sacred ground that demands peace, I advise you to be wary of any borders that you may cross. Some clans are much more hostile towards outsiders."

[googlefont=Libre Baskerville] The Stranger You are not the one you said you were The stranger listened with great interest as the tom spoke. His name was odd. It would feel foreign on her tongue when she spoke it for the first time. He spoke of WindClan and how the soil she stood on was sacred. She glanced back at the markings on the pillars. Did these cats worship whatever left these markings? And there were other Clans as well? How many cats lived here? She had so many questions. This had to be the valley cats her father spoke so ill of when she was a kitten. This Stormstar didn't seem too bad. Still, even if her father was a pathological liar, she should keep her guard up around these cats.
"Many thanks for your warning I give to you, Stormstar. Continue to be wary, I will." She meowed. "Strange lands, these are. How many 'Clans' reside here? Know which one would be most willing to allow me to rest my paws for a few days, do you? Long journey, it has been." She said, flicking her tail. The stranger needed to know which of the Clans would be willing to help her figure out what her strange powers were. The journey had been long as well, and the she-cat wanted to rest for a few days without worrying about the scarcity of prey or any predators there may be near her temporary dens. She hoped Stormstar knew how to help.

Stormstar
This would be his first big decision to make as leader of WindClan.
Offering this stranger shelter in his clan could make it or break it for him and his warriors. However, the decision would ultimately be up to this she-cat, and whether or not she wanted to risk staying with cats gifted with abnormal abilities. Yes, Stormstar had the right to turn her away, refuse to provide her shelter and possibly even expel her from these lands. But something was different about this cat. She had to be the first outsider he'd ever set sights on, and he wanted to learn from her. There were countless questions that she could answer...
WindClan could learn from her. And so could their enemies.
"There are five of us." He decided to continue, remaining assertive and refusing to let all guards down quite yet. She was yet to introduce herself and specify her reasons for being in their land, leaving Stormstar to feel both curious and apprehensive. For all he knew, she could have a pawful of "friends", waiting to learn about these clans from the information this stranger could provide, and then make their move. "DarkClan is the newest, and will only accept those blessed with their Dark element. ShadowClan is likely to be hostile towards anyone not from these parts, and ThunderClan...they may be hesitant."
He did not want to lie, the tom preferred to be honest with everyone. However...RiverClan could be a future enemy, and throwing another body into their ranks wouldn't help WindClan. His warriors especially wouldn't favor him, and he absolutely couldn't risk their deaths...if he was their leader, or not. "RiverClan is not on great terms with my clan at the moment. They would take a vote to decide your fate, and you can only pray to whatever afterlife you believe in that they vote in your favor."
Cocking his head, the usually-anxious black smoke was still struggling with whether or not he should welcome her into his clan. Ugh! They could learn so much, the elders would be pleased...but ShadowClan wouldn't like that, and RiverClan might feel more threatened...
"Before I decide whether or not you can be welcomed into my clan, I must know who you are and what you're doing here. I will do anything to keep my warriors, kits, queens, and elders safe from harm. From what I can tell, you don't hold our powers...unless you're concealing them."

[googlefont=Libre Baskerville] The Stranger I'm not afraid to die The stranger listened as he spoke. Elements? Were those the powers she carried? She looked down at her paws, remembering the darkness that almost consumed her. Her father had been giving her and her late littermates some sort of herb that kept it at ease before he left. It had been a while since her last dose. Anxiety rose up within her once she had realized this. It wouldn't be long until it happened again, and she didn't know what to do about it. She didn't know what herb it was or where to find it. She'd know it when she would see it, but where would it grow?
Her heart began to race as she weighed her options. As panic overcame her, darkness oozed from the fur around her neck. Thick, dark shadows tangled around the hairs on her neck. She couldn't possibly trust this cat with this. He'd probably try to kill her if he found out she had powers, or worse. Maybe he'd spare her, but chase her from the valley, back into the mountains. She feared the rogues that lived there, but the wounds they could inflict on her were nothing compared to the darkness that ultimately killed her littermates in a cruel, twisted way. She wasn't afraid of him or his clanmates. If they tried to kill her, it would ultimately liberarte her from the burden of her powers. She wasn't afraid to die at their paws if they didn't trust her. She was afraid this was her only option.
"You've got to help me, please." The ground her paws stood on had become darker in a small area. She was desperate. "My name is Primrose, and I come from the mountains." She said. "I-I don't know if the powers I carry are the same as yours, but my father came from this valley, and his were like mine. My littermates died from these powers. I need help." Tears formed at her eyes. "I don't know how to control them." She confessed. She had given more information than she had initially meant to, but she needed to gain his trust. He may be her only hope.

Stormstar
The unfamiliar molly's uneasiness was contagious. There was something off about her, and it was awfully familiar in numerous twisted ways. Despite all of his efforts to maintain flat fur, his hackles rose as the stranger's anxiety sky-rocketed. This was wrong, all of it, every passing moment. Terrible events were going to occur, he could sense it, feel it reaching out towards his throat to strangle him in one of the most sacred places known to the clans. Out here, as a new leader, by himself, with an alien that could turn every single warrior in all clans on him.
Defensively, Stormstar stepped back as shadows began to creep around the she-cat, beginning to believe that this drifter was a dark element preparing to attack him. However, as the figurative fog began to clear around the situation, things became terrifyingly familiar, sending him back many moons ago to times he had tried to desperately to forget. A moment that changed his life for forever, a scene that sent him into a downward spiral and constant-panic-mode. It completely tore his heart from his chest.
Primrose's screams for help became deafening, perhaps louder within his ears than they had really been, but her calls swiftly blurred into a background noise, drowned out by the cries from his past. From his brother.
"Stormpaw, please! Help me, I-I don't know what to do, I have no control!" Shaded-'s mint-green eyes were dilated to almost complete blackness from the fear he faced as the surrounding air began to whip around like the powerful winds from a twister. He cowered low to the ground, begging for help, but Stormpaw could not reach him. He tried to race forward, to at least embrace his brother and give him all possible comfort if this was the end, but the air acted like a barricade. It knocked him backwards, practically pulling the air from his lungs, leaving him gasping for his breath on his back. "I don't want to hurt you, Stormpaw...I-I don't want to die...don't want to leave you...I'm so...so scared..."
In the background, their parents screamed on the top of their lungs, bellowing at Stormpaw for how much they hated him, blaming him for his brother's weakness and inability to control his elemental powers. They told Shaded- to hold on before returning their focus to their bastard son, their eyes dark with hatred as they turned back to Stormpaw.
Then they came for him.
Teeth bared, they would end him. Shaded- screeched for them to stop, and the tempest suddenly strengthened to unbearable proportions. Before they could reach Stormpaw...Larch- and Hail- were practically torn to bits by the raging gusts, right before Stormpaw's eyes.
"Stormpaw...I love you..."
"Shaded-! N-No, it'll be ok, I promise, I know I can help you. It'll be just me and you, like how it always was. We always manage to find a way through it..."
"I can't hurt you, Stormpaw...I...I can't.
"But...you promised you'd never leave me. Please, I'll find a way!"
"Goodbye, brother, I love you."
Stormstar's stance was no longer one of defense, rather all four of his limbs were stiffly stretched out, as if he was struggling to balance on an unstable block of ice, drifting through a choppy sea. His claws were unsheathed and sinking into the hardened earth while his eyes, rounded with terror, bore into the ground. His sides inflated and deflated rapidly and dramatically before he finally got a grip on his situation, Shaded-'s voice slowly fading away until he offered a final message:
You can't save them all, but maybe you can save this one.
He did not look at her, he wasn't sure if he could force himself to do so just yet. If he looked up, Stormstar feared that he would see his brother, and not this she-cat. He never wanted to picture that ever again. "...You are suffering from consumption, I've...seen it before. We must begin to train you and get your element under control, otherwise it will consume you. Our medicine cats can help, but it is important that you calm down. I can't bring you to them until we get past this episode."

[googlefont=Libre Baskerville] Primrose Now that I've seen your face it haunts me She listened to Stormstar and nodded. The lynx-point tried to calm her breathing and push away the thought of the darkness that crawled along her neck. He was right. When her sister lost control like this, she died. Prim couldn't even imagine how it felt. The burning pain she'd felt in her legs more than once from the darkness had rendered her weak for days. She didn't want to know how her whole body would feel before she ultimately died from it. If he was willing to help her, she couldn't turn him down. Primrose was running out of options, and this looked like her best choice. If his cats could help, she needed to go for it.
After slowly but surely calming herself, Primrose looked at Stormstar again and nodded. "Ok. I think I've got it under control for now." She nodded.

Stormstar
Stormstar drew in a deep breath when he seemed to finally get his own problems under control, at least somewhat. He was still horribly anxious about the whole ordeal, and what his warriors might think of him when he brought in the first stranger they'd set eyes upon in...forever. At least it would be a relatively easy walk to camp from Five Stones, without having to pass through any borders of unwelcoming and suspicious clans. The only cats to judge him would be his own.
"...Alright, good." He responded after his deep breath that was drawn out for a prolonged time. Stormstar studied the lynx point briefly to ensure that the signs of consumption were gone, and all darkness seemed to have disappeared. But now, he only had another problem on his plate: she was a dark element. There weren't any dark elements in WindClan, but who knew what DarkClan would think of his stranger. For now, time was on the essence. Little details could be sorted out later. Besides, who was to say that only a dark element could mentor a dark element? He knew plenty of wind elements who were mentored by a fire element, or water, or earth. This wouldn't be any different.
"I can't risk bringing you into the center of my camp, just so you're aware before we travel. First and foremost, I'll have to get Star Root to help you fight for your control. Until then, you could be a danger to yourself and my clanmates. B-But don't worry about it, we'll get through it. I won't give up on you."
He really hoped that was a promise he could keep.

[googlefont=Libre Baskerville] Primrose All words of comfort cannot take away my doubt Primrose nodded as he spoke. "Y-Yes, I understand. Same precautions would I take. Do not blame you, I do. It is for the best." She meowed. When he spoke of her potentially being a danger to his Clanmates, Primrose couldn't help but think of her littermates. Her eyes darkened as she did. Her sister had ultimately been killed by the darkness that Primrose held. Her father watched in silence, unfazed as all of it happened. The death of her sister still haunted her. Thinking of her brother was worse. Primrose had killed him. It was all her fault that Cedar was dead. Her father did nothing. He sat by as all of it happened. Why did he do that? Why didn't he try to help them? Why did he let her kill Cedar? She hated him for it. Maybe that's why their mother had left them. Because she wanted to escape from that monster. If she knew he was a monster, why didn't she take them with her? Maybe he had killed her.
Primrose shook her head. She didn't want to think about her family. She didn't want to weigh the option that her mother was murdered. "To find this 'Star Root', where must we go?" She asked him. She wanted to take her mind off of all of this.

Stormstar
Normally, Stormstar wasn't dependent on anyone else besides himself and StarClan for a decision. With enough will power, it was possible for any cat to accomplish anything, he was sure of it. He wasn't the most confident of cats, especially with his tendency to be indecisive, but he was certain about helping her out. Bringing a stranger to camp was one thing, but preventing someone from the same fate that met his brother? He would stop at nothing.
But for now, he was completely dependent on Mistypelt and her abilities as medicine cat. He had faith in her, he always had, but it was up to the medicine cat to decide if she was willing to comply or not. Stormstar could be a dishonest snake-heart and not disclose the real situation to her, but he was an honest guy. "Our medicine cats can grow it. Medicine cats are the members of our clans who are responsible for gathering herbs to heal our clanmates." He offered a quick explanation, reminding himself that Primrose wasn't native to the clans.
Except, ThunderClan cats were capable of growing herbs in a blink of an eye, thanks to their earth element. Unfortunately for them, Mistypelt was an air element, meaning she couldn't make things bloom out of dirt like those ThunderClan cats were capable of. They could only pray that she had already grown star root previously, and that it was ripe for the taking. Otherwise...they would need to find Sagewhisker. And revealing Primrose to ThunderClan, of all clans? Not the best idea.
"We'll have to go to my camp. Follow me, but remember: once we get to camp, I can't take you inside and risk the lives of my warriors, no matter how much I wish to help and trust you." Turning with a beckoning of his tail, the leader began his journey back towards his home. He could only hope that StarClan was feeling generous, and wouldn't take this young cat's life as well.
Or, more likely, the lives of his clanmates that would be near her presence.
