Willowstripe gave a small sigh of relief once she realized that she couldn’t hear her “father”’s incessant yowling. She was honestly glad that tom hadn’t noticed that she wasn’t even there to hear his lecture over who she should associate herself with, she wished she could see the look on his face when he finally realized that he’d been wasting his time and breath. She’d learned long ago that it was no use trying to change his mind about what he thought of mollies, it’d only bring about an argument that would end in her having to make up with him and Tigerstripe being smug about it for the rest of the moon.

She came to a stop once she reached the stream, bending down to take a sip. One of the things she liked most about the transition from leafbare to newleaf was that the water stayed cool, just right to soothe an throat angry from yelling. Once she had her fill, she laid down near the stream, dipping a paw in and watching the ripples dance in the water. She allowed herself to relax, something she rarely did since she was given Duckpaw as an apprentice and began giving herself a good clean.
