I know that it is freezing
But i think we have to walk
Bumblepelt sat on the edge of the stones, the freezing water just barely touching his paws. He looked into the water, hoping to find a trace of fish, or perhaps a minnow. Anything would help. Fishing while he waited for Russetpaw wasn't the worst idea. As their representative, he felt he should be putting in more effort to gain the trust of his Clan.
He wondered what he would make the young tom do in order to complete his assessment. Usually hunting was graded, but even the Clan's best hunters were struggling. Everyone was starving.
His ears pricked up as he heard someone approach. He turned around and smiled gently to the apprentice. "Russetpaw, welcome." He meowed, flicking his tail.

Russetpaw trotted eagerly to the Fish Stones, his heart thumping rapidly in his chest. This was finally it! It was finally time for him to become a RiverClan warrior. He’d had a pep in his step that’d been lost ever since Watersong died and prayed to StarClan the night before that he wouldn’t mess anything up, he’d waited too long for anything to go wrong now. He’d eaten his fill quickly, before getting chided by his mother to slow down before he got a bellyache, before he trotted down to where Bumblepelt asked him to meet at. His gait sped up to a jog as he spotted Bumblepelt, skidding to a stop beside the representative. He quickly gave his pelt a few licks to ready himself, before he stood proud before the older tom. ”Hello, Bumblepelt,” he said, forcing his voice to be steady. His tail twitched nervously, as he spared a look at the water. fern

The tom would be lying if he didn't say he wasn't nervous. He'd never taken an apprentice, so being responsible for overseeing an assessment felt odd and nerve wracking. He sat up straight and dipped his head to the apprentice once more.
"Your assessment will be centered primarily on hunting today. I will evaluate your battle skills and elemental control near the end." He meowed as he stood up. "If you can bring back three pieces of prey in this trying time, you will most likely pass your assessment with flying colors." Bumblepelt said. "You have until sunhigh to meet me back here with that you can catch."
Blaze - Sorry it took so long! I've been picking up lots of shifts and busting my butt for finals!!

Russetpaw listened intently to Bumblepelt’s words, his tail twitching nervously. How was he gonna find three pieces of prey? Sure, it was finally starting to get warmer, but not all the fish had returned from upstream and the water was still extremely cold to the touch. He perked up suddenly, maybe he could use that to his advantage. His dipped his head once he finished receiving his instructions and got to his paws, trotting off to start his assessment. He slowed down once he’d gotten a few tree lengths from Bumblepelt, scenting the air for prey. He found a trace of magpie somewhere above him, though he couldn’t see where. He inhaled the scent, tracking it down to one of the low bushes. It would fly away if he tried to catch it now, despite being so close. He’d have to try to get closer. He sunk into a hunting crouch, moving as silently as possible. The magpie froze suddenly, finally noticing that it wasn’t alone. It flew off suddenly, surprising him for a split second before he leaped, barely catching it between the tips of his claws. He brought it down and pinned its struggling wings before he went for the killing blow. It fell limp between his jaws. He waved his tail happily as he stood, leaving the magpie to start a pile. He hoped Bumblepelt saw. fern (no worries!)
