Lynxstar had been awaiting this day ever since the gathering. The two kits were quite a mystery, not only were their tails nonexistent, a trait that existed to very few cats in the valley, but their elements... Air elementals were rare enough as it was in ThunderClan, but a Storm elemental? He had to be honest, he didn’t expect the poor tom to survive past apprenticeship.
But that didn’t mean he couldn’t still try to help him. So he stood to his paws and bounded to the High Rock, looking over his clan. Whatever happened to these two toms was in the paws of StarClan now, he thought. Best to not stall.
”Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting!

THERE IS A THIN LINE between what is good and what is evil I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable So...it was time. If the russet warrior was being honest, she wasn't expecting (nor hoping) the pair to live so long, considering that she dumped them on the border with the idea that WindClan or foxes would snag them. But no, that ThunderClan patrol just had to ruin all of her plans. Then again, it was primarily that rotten Thornstep's fault. They were his furballs, too. Vixenleap had managed to keep her parentage over the two tomkits a secret thus far, and she intended to keep it that way for all of eternity. She could only hope that StarClan would stray their paths elsewhere, perhaps convincing them to one day join WindClan instead, so she could no longer be burdened by their mere presence. There appeared to be a higher chance that she'd be rid of Acornkit faster than his brother- the kitten was cursed with a Storm element. ThunderClan had no-one to mentor him. While she really wasn't interested in sitting around for the ceremony, the she-cat had an image to uphold: that general disinterest in the pair of kittens, the same indifference she directed at all youngsters in the nursery. If she acted too out of the ordinary, some might grow suspicious. So with her pelt well groomed and slick as ice as usual, the warrior strode over to the base of the boulder to seat herself. Acornkit had feared this day since...since day one!! There was a whole big crowd outside, waiting for both him and Fogkit. Despite all of his hopes, wishes, and prayers, his tail was yet to miraculously grow in overnight, leaving him to be an embarrassed, tailless freak. Nonetheless, there seemed to be no way out of the ceremony. So, he'd just try to sit as best as he could in an attempt to hide his abnormality. The self-conscious it continued to fidget around, attempting to perfect every imperfect hair despite really not wanting to get involved with the whole apprenticeship thing. He was fine with being a kit- he could be a bump on a log for all of eternity, honestly. He never shared the glory and excitement that most kittens had when it came to becoming an apprentice. Perhaps it was shame, or perhaps it was just a general lack of motivation. Drawing in a deep breath, the anxious furball decided that his fur was the best it'd get. He never carried that sleek and shiny pelt that some of his clanmates had, he was always...fluffy. Short-furred and fluffy, like some sort of cloud, or a creampuff. Yet already, he was far from the most elegant of clouds, with his build growing into something stocky and powerful. Even if he carried WindClan blood, it was evident that he looked nothing like those long-legged hare-chasers. With one final hesitant glance towards his brother, Acornkit began to shuffle his way out of the nursery.

Soft-tail
Patiently, the cinnamon tabby waited surrounded by the other warriors. This was going to be an extremely interesting ceremony. Of course, not because he'd be picked to mentor someone, no. In fact, the tom couldn't even begin to fathom what he could do. As a matter of fact, he felt bad for Lynxstar. There weren't many Air Elements in ThunderClan, let alone Storm! Who would mentor the Kits? They must have a mentor - that's what the Warrior Code says!
Alas, he had to wait and see. Who knows? Maybe StarClan already thought of this.

Fogkit started at Lynxstar’s call, taking a moment to remember what the day was before he scrambled to his paws, rushing his brother to wake up along with the rest of the nursery. His smile threatened to break his face in two, but he hardly cared. He was gonna be an apprentice! He was finally gonna get to explore! He was gonna live life the ThunderClan way and there was nothing anyone could do to stop him!
He bounded up beside Acornkit, bristling with happiness! Seeing his brother’s worried expression, he calmed down. Slightly. He sat down beside him, and puffed out his chest. “Who do you think your mentor will be, huh? Lightningstrike hasn’t had an apprentice yet, and Water is sorta like Storm,” he said, resting a paw on Acornkit’s shoulder. “I overheard Brackenstep talking yesterday. She said that if Lynxstar’s feeling good, you might get Duskstar’s old mentor! Imagine that - Adder- mentoring you. I’d be jealous!”
Lynxstar looked over his clan, sitting down atop the High Rock. His eyes drifted over to Vixenleap’s relaxed form, to Soft-tail’s slightly fascinated expression. ‘It was time,’ he decided.
“It is true that these past few moons have been eventful. From Newtpaw and Owlpaw’s apprentice ceremonies to our battle with DarkClan to the loss of Fernbreeze and... a family member, it is clear to me that ThunderClan needs time to heal from the wounds inflicted upon us. Today, we welcome two new apprentices to join us. They have come to us suddenly and unexpectedly, but we welcome them all the same. Acornkit and Fogkit, please step forward.”
