Stormstar
WindClan was victorious- his clan would not go hungry, and RiverClan wouldn't dare to face them again after that battle. Although his heart beat for his clan and he was overwhelmed with the pride he felt for his warriors, a longing had tugged him elsewhere, to the shadowed realms of DarkClan's territory. Ravenstar had been bold enough to visit him the last time, and he wouldn't risk her losing another life just to see him again. Thankfully, StarClan had spared both Stormstar and his warriors during the battle, but that didn't mean that the tom wasn't in pain from the serious burning he had received from Reedtail...even if the leader had come out on top during their scuffle.
The smoke feline had shuffled along like an elder, gritting his teeth at the searing pain that he felt with each step. Yet, the desire to see the cat he considered his mate kept urging him along, adding meaning to each agonizing step he took. He could only hope that it would be Ravenstar that he ran into, and not a DarkClan patrol. That would require some...awkward explaining. WindClan and DarkClan had no official alliance- they were neutral, as was WindClan's relationship with most other clans (excluding RiverClan, obviously). He didn't know what they'd do, but that didn't matter.
All that he cared about was the she-cat that made his heart sing.
Once he passed through Five Stones and had reached the edges of DarkClan's territory, Stormstar slowly and stiffly lowered himself into a seated position, hoping to catch sights of the dark-furred molly of his dreams. Beside him rest a bundle of young wildflowers faintly dappled with color, the first sign of approaching newleaf in WindClan. He had made her a promise before...he had remembered to finally keep it.

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]It was a quiet night. Unusually warm after the cold snap they were climbing out of as well. Ravenstar decided to join the Night Hunters for the occassion. Prey would be coming out of their holes as well. Her Clanmates were eager for food and warm weather. She knew her RiverClan refugees were looking forward to swimming again. She certainly did not. Especially not after what happened last time.[break][break]
"Go on, we'll meet back here before dawn." She meowed, flicking her tail. Her patrol scattered off. The scent of a wren caught her attention. The dark molly began to follow the trail until she spotted the small bird. She crouched and began to creep forward. Snap! The bird flew away. Ravenstar cursed under her breath. She didn't even notice the pine twig, now snapped in half, beneath her paw. A mistake only apprentices would make, not a leader. Why couldn't she get herself together?[break][break]
Stormstar was on her mind again. Of course, he was.[break][break]
Why could she not take her thoughts off of the smoky tom, even just for a day? She hated him for it, yet she loved him dearly. She had already given a life to see him. She'd do it again in a heartbeat.[break][break]
Ravenstar found her paws carrying herself towards Five Stones. She remembered meeting Stormchaser there, then meeting him again as Stormstar. Boy, did that complicate things. Conflicting her feelings was among the many problems meeting him again caused. [break][break]
Her eyes fell on another cat. It took her just a moment to recognized them as the one she saw as her lover, her mate. She smiled and padded towards him, nuzzling him with a purr. "What are you doing here?" She asked.[break][break]
She was happy to see him. Stormstar
The tom held his breath when he spotted another presence in the distance, inwardly wondering if he'd been spotted by one of Ravenstar's warriors, and not the she-cat herself. However, when the cat began to approach, their body language didn't seem at all aggressive, more trained and relaxed. When the DarkClan she-cat's scent wrapped around Stormstar, he welcomed Ravenstar with a warm embrace, purring despite the intense agony he felt in his burn wounds. "I just had to see you- I've missed you so much." That was the only explanation he had for it, his paws had simply lead him to her. They said to follow your heart, and so he did just that.
He had never seen her territory before, and he admired it from afar, taking in the dark depths of the forest that were already cloaked in the shadows of night. It seemed to suit cats with coats the shade of his and her fur very well, although he could never bear being drowned out by so many trees. He enjoyed seeing the night sky, so he loved the openness of WindClan's territory. It didn't make him feel claustrophobic.
Well, speaking of territory.... "RiverClan finally made their move on Hare Plains, but they stood no match against us." He made brief conversation of the battle because he was already putting it behind himself, instead focusing on living in the now, of sharing this night with his beloved Ravenstar. Battle scars healed, but the way that DarkClan's leader warmed his heart...it was a feeling that would last beyond StarClan, a sensation that could melt ice.
Stormstar then paused, jolting himself when he remembered part of the reason why he had decided to meet the she-cat. "Oh! These, uh....these are for you." Awkwardly, the WindClan leader motioned to the bundle of wildflowers with his smoky tail. Indeed, their were a secret official "thing", but he still grinned and blushed like an awkward apprentice confronting his crush for the first time when around Ravenstar.

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]Ravenstar's face felt hot as Stormstar said he missed her. She looked away with a dumb smile on her face. "I'd be lying if I said that I didn't miss you as well." She said before sitting down. wrapping her tail around her paws. She was very happy to see him and was more than ready to act if any of her warriors stumbled upon them. Nothing a quick shadow cloak couldn't fix while she sent them elsewhere. Still, being with him put her mind at ease. He was special to her. He was the first cat to love her who didn't turn away because of her element. She would never forget that.[break][break]
She looked at his burn wounds and frowned. "Those look like they hurt." She said, concern in her tone. "Don't push yourself too hard." Ravenstar flicked her tail. She didn't want him losing a life so early in his leadership. That would spell trouble if Lynxstar saw him as an easy target. If she ever heard of ThunderClan attacking WindClan as long as she was leader, she would put Lynxstar in his place herself.[break][break]
When he spoke of RiverClan attacking, she nodded her head slightly. Suddenly his wounds made sense. He must have gotten into it with one of the few fire elementals. He was lucky those were the only wounds he had. She spent much time in ShadowClan before becoming leader of DarkClan. She knew what fire elementals were capable of. They could be incredibly dangerous. She smiled as he mentioned their victory. "I'm glad your warriors were capable of fending them off, but it comes to no surprise considering the state RiverClan is. I pity their representative. There isn't much he can do until Newleaf settles in and the fish return to the river." She said. "It's not like they would have been able to catch any rabbits in your territory anyway." She chuckled. She could never imagine a RiverClan cat outrunning a rabbit. They were better off in their rivers.[break][break]
Ravenstar smiled when he showed her the bundle of flowers. It hadn't been long since she went to WindClan territory, but the flora hadn't fully taken hold yet. These must have been early sprouters. It was still freezing on a few nights. "Stormstar, these are beautiful." She said softly. Ravenstar licked his cheek affectionately. "Thank you." She smiled.

Stormstar
For the past several days, he had been longing to find a way to invite the shadowy she-cat onto his territory so she could see its beauty first-hand, so that they could have their peace among the sound of crickets and beauty of wildflowers cloaked by darkness. Not that there was anything wrong with DarkClan- he was certain that the lay of the land was as stunning as the feline before him. Nonetheless, a certain pride had always existed in Stormstar in regards to his homeland, and so the desire to show it off to the cat he thought so highly of was undeniably stalwart. But, he had to be patient- with time and devotion (as Ravenstar had showed him), anything could come their way. Am I a poor leader to be doing this? But...I am a cat, not a stone. I have feelings, just like my clanmates.
He had been gawking at Ravenstar with moony eyes for several moments, to the point where he had forgotten about his wounds and instead had gotten lost in her words. He jolted when she spoke of his injuries, causing the tom to break eye contact and glance down at his patches of missing fur. "Oh! It's not much, I swear...you, uh, should see the other guy." A cheeky grin followed his comment, because he knew it probably wasn't true. Reedtail was probably feeling a hundred times better- just had to wash some sand out of his eyes. "I'm just glad that I got the brunt of the fire element, and not my clanmates. Better me than them, I have nine lives to spare. Besides, Mistypelt is a professional." He really did like their medicine cat, he just felt bad for giving her so much...work.
With his silvered whiskers twitching in amusement, the WindClan leader visualized the now-scrawny RiverClan cats attempting to chase down his hares and stumbling all over their big, webbed paws. "I don't think they really thought that much through. I would have been happy to cooperate and spare whatever prey we could to aid them through the rough times, but they made their decision. Not the correct one, unfortunately." Stormstar didn't believe that there was much more he could do to assist their neighbors, especially since they decided to react in a hostile manner that left the leader with no choice but to fight back. WindClan was going through tough times of its own. He wasn't going to suck up to them now.
But the tom hadn't come to visit Ravenstar in hopes to discussing politics- this was about them, not RiverClan, not WindClan, not DarkClan, and not even ThunderClan. He bowed his head in an awkward, adolescent-like manner when she admitted that she liked them. "Th-Thanks, I saw them after the battle. They looked so strong and were so beautiful- they just reminded me of you, so I couldn't resist bringing them." Stormstar shuffled his paws in the dirt to help shed some of his embarrassment. "So now, you have something here to remember me by, for when I can't come around." She wouldn't forget about him, right?

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]Ravenstar let out a chuckle while Stormstar spoke of his victory. He was adorable. "I'm sure you showed him who's boss." She purred. She was certain that 'the other guy' had truly run with his tail between his legs. She wasn't implying Stormstar was weak! In his condition, it looked like they were well versed. She shook her head. Enough of that. She thought. Ravenstar stretched out her limbs.[break][break]
She blushed and looked away in embarrassment as he spoke of her, comparing her to the flowers. Hearing such affectionate words felt so foreign to her, she didn't know how to react. It was strange. But she did enjoy it. Ravenstar brushed the flowers closer with her tail and smiled. "Thank you." She meowed. "I'll keep them by my nest." She smiled. [break][break]
If it were any later into the budding Newleaf season, perhaps the crickets and frogs would be out to fill the air with some sort of white noise. Maybe the fireflies would be out here in the marsh. That was a sight she wanted Stormtar to see one day. She didn't think they had any out in WindClan. It would truly make this moment more magical. Stormstar had seen the marsh, but there was so much more to DarkClan's territory. The pines towards ShadowClan, the rocky tundra by the mountains. She wanted him to be able to experience it all someday. This was her home, everything she had worked towards her entire life. She wanted to share that with him.[break][break]
She looked into his eyes. "Stay the night. I know a place where no one will find us, where we can be alone without worrying about the night patrol." Ravenstar said with a smile. She wanted nothing more than to be with him right now. He was the only thing that mattered.

Stormstar
How long would they be able to keep their meetings up- could they stay together for ever, like he had so desperately wished for? Did she even feel the same?
Does this make me a bad leader? His stomach twisted at the thought. While the blood that ran through his veins was filled with the same magic that could be found on the windy moorland, there was no doubting that his heart did, in fact, sing for Ravenstar. Yet, he reminded himself once more that there was nothing wrong with having feelings, it only made him a more personable and understanding figure at WindClan's helm. It took heart to lead a clan- and he had just that, even if it would forever belong to the dusky feline before him. Nonetheless, he regarded their romantic relationship with innocence and a sort of dreamy air, the same type that might have been told in stories or found in a fantasy.
So when she asked him to stay the night, it through him for a curve. Stormstar grew hot under his fur, struggling to find the words when she invited him to not spend a few moments, but a whole evening with her. Nobody had ever asked him to share a nest with him- most everyone had stuffed him aside in the warrior's den before he became the clan's deputy. And when he thought about it, nobody really cared for him in WindClan like this. Indeed, he was their leader and therefore he was of great importance (because their lives depended on one stupid furball), but he lacked any tremendous relationship with his clanmates. Ravenstar...she just seemed to get him, he always felt like he was walking on clouds when he was around her.
"I-I..." He was still fighting to find the words, fidgeting around in his place before he finally glanced back up at his cross-clan mate. Finally, a nervous smile flourished across his face once more, and he got up to motion that he was ready for her to lead the way to their little safe haven under DarkClan's stars. "...Only if I can make you the biggest and coziest nest you've ever rested in."

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]Ravenstar smiled as he spoke. ”Of course. Sounds like a deal.” She meowed.[break][break]
The dark molly flicked her tail as a signal for him to follow. The marsh was more wet than usual, seeing how all the snow was almost completely thawed. She hoped he didn’t mind getting his paws muddy. Maybe he didn’t. He was a WindClanner, and he did announce at the gathering that they were to begin work on the tunnels soon. Assuming he was helping, the mud wouldn’t be too bad.[break][break]
The weather was good for the frog spawn as well. Soon the marsh would be bountiful with prey. Maybe she’d luck out and find a nice, fat frog to share. She shook her head. Maybe she wouldn’t try her luck with feeding him that. It was an acquired taste from what she had heard. ShadowClan loved it, ThunderClan, not so much. There wouldn’t be many rabbits out in the area. They were rare in Greenleaf, so she didn’t think she’d be able to pick out a scent now.[break][break]
She led him through the marsh with ease, climbing over fallen logs and avoiding the water as much as possible. She didn’t think she’d be ready for a swim any time soon. The deeper in the territory they got, the more trees there were. ”This was old ShadowClan territory. Duskstar was kind enough to give us a generous portion of it. What RiverClan gave up was the rocky tundra. Our camp is out there, making our dens in the rock formations.” She meowed. ”Coming down here is a nice change of scenery in leafbare.” Ravenstar purred. ”The tundra gets marshy in greenleaf, so we’ve gotten used to getting our paws muddy.”[break][break]
Ravenstar stopped by a fallen tree and ducked under it. The area was empty but closed off, large enough to be a den for three or four cats. ”No one should be coming by here tonight.” She said. It would take some work, but it had some potential to be a nice place to spend the night. Stormstar
The tom followed the raven she-cat on light paw steps, his grassy eyes round to take in every detail of her realm. He hadn't minded where he set his paws at first, until he inhaled sharply at the sensation of cold dampness surrounding his toes. DarkClan probably had a hay day with all the mosquitoes during the warmer moons, but he imagined that it could be equally as gorgeous as WindClan's land, with the golden sunlight streaming through the dense pines and setting the standing water ablaze with golden hues...the only creature that would rival such beauty would be the magnificent feline giving him a private tour of her territory.
He probably looked like an awkward, lanky bird trying to navigate through the wetland at first, but he eventually decided to just say "screw it" and slush through it all. He caught up to her quickly, eyeing the key points of the territory that she pointed out. Stormstar couldn't resist a warm smile. "I imagine the views from your camp must be unmatched." The leader murmured honestly, before he allowed himself to peer into Ravenstar's eyes. "Although, I think my view right now might be better." He ducked his head out of embarrassment and quickly carried along, cursing himself mentally for allowing the words to escape his lips.
Stupid mouse-brain...I probably sound ridiculous. Like an apprentice pining after another... He continued to walk with his head lowered, but he seemed to perk up when they came across their temporary den. This would do just nicely- cozy, yet plenty of room for him to sprawl out like awkward crowfood on a thunderpath (of course, he'd never seen such a thing- just a saying he overheard from an elder). Stormstar could surely make her- them- a wonderful nest to sleep in, with a plethora of dry leaves, maybe some feather lining...
He pushed the thought away. He could boast about his nest-making skills later. It was a relief to know that they could sleep in peace without the worry of a patrol coming by and spotting them. "Good," Stormstar finally spoke up again, stepping into the tiny clearing with a subtle wave of his smoke tail. "Just you and me, nothing to worry about, nobody to tell us we're wrong...I can have you all to myself." He sounded slick enough, except he raised a paw to rub it over his face because he had an itch.
...Only he didn't realize that his paw was covered and mud, and now, so was his face.

Ravenstar nodded as he spoke of the view. She smiled when the tom continued. He was rarely this confident. He was adorable when he tried. She turned and grinned, lifting an eyebrow. “You’re right. The view for my isn’t all that bad either.” She meowed playfully. Once they were at the den, Ravenstar stretched. It was time to get to work. She pricked her ears when he began to speak once more, then lifted a kitty brow as he smeared mud all over his face. She bursted out laughing. His attempt to be confident was thwarted by such a small mistake. It was cute, really, but hilarious nonetheless. This was one of the many reasons the molly had fallen for him. ”I’m gonna try and find something to eat.” She said, still smiling. The black molly waved her tail. ”Try not to completely cover yourself in mud while I’m gone.” She purred. And with that, she was off. She trekked out for a while, trying to pick out a smell that wasn’t frog. They were spawning, so soon they’d be plentiful. Ravenstar just didn’t want to make him eat that on his first time in DarkClan. It was an acquired taste after all. Maybe she’d be lucky and find a hare. They might not have shed the white from their coats yet, so she hopes they’d be easier to pick out. Ravenstar narrowed her eyes at the sight of tall ears sticking out of the grass. Hopefully this would be her shot. 20mia08

He blinked. What was Ravenstar going on about, not getting himself all covered in mud- oh. Stormstar glanced down at his dirt-covered paw bashfully before he watched the smoky-black feline leave, almost as if he was sad to temporarily be without her presence. However, he would not be alone for long, and that could prove itself problematic. That gave the WindClanner very little time to construct a nest that would blow Ravenstar's mind. Once she was a safe distance away, the black smoke frantically got to work, lightly trudging out of their make-shift den to find himself some proper supplies. He made sure to walk in the opposite direction in which Ravenstar's scent trail lead, to avoid accidentally running into the leader and giving her a much unwanted surprise during her hunt. Dry leaves might be hard to find in this land... Stormstar reminded himself as he glanced down at the squelching mud underneath his paws before he trekked onward, finding an interesting group of rocks underneath a tree. He found a few bundle of dry leaves that had made themselves a dry little home between the cracks of the rocks. He took them up in his mouth before he eagerly raced back off to their cozy lodge, making haste and grabbing anything comfortable he could find: feathers, fluff, or dry grass. He wanted to make it perfect, a night she'd remember for all of eternity. The nest looked decent enough- a heavily pregnant queen couldn't even make it sink in, he was certain of it. The roost had oodles of leaves and whatever else Stormstar had been able to get his paws on. Yet, something was missing...something remarkable... Flowers. He loved flowers- they made everything perfect. The tom swore that he'd seen a few tiny cornflower blossoms dotting bits and pieces of the territory. So he immediately took off to find them, and once he came across them, he picked as many as he could carry. So he lined the nest with the lovely blooms, and with the extra...he left a trail from the entrance of their little home, so that it would lead Ravenstar to him. Stormstar admired his work as he sat back next to the nest to welcome Ravenstar home. Of course, his muddy paws left a few messes every here and there, but it still looked welcoming. It was like their relationship: perhaps it wasn't perfect, but it was beautiful. Thorne

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"]Ravenstar's eyes were focused on the hare. Each step she took was careful, making sure she wouldn't sink in the marsh and alert the creature. She wouldn't be able to chase after it with her paws weighed down by mud. One swift leap and...[break][break]
It ran.[break][break]
She wasn't letting it go so easily! Ravenstar dashed forwards, chasing the hare as quickly as she could. She had to give props to the WindClanners, these things were fast! She jumped onto a fallen log and used the momentum to push off, sealing the hare's fate. Ravenstar caught it between her claws and sunk her fangs into its neck until it went limp. She bowed her head and thanked StarClan for the meal, despite the taboo scenario she found herself in.[break][break]
Ravenstar grabbed the hare and began to walk back to their campsite. Her eyes caught sight of flowers she hadn't noticed before. They had been plucked from elsewhere. She sighed softly, letting a smile. Stormstar was adorable. She loved him with all her heart, no matter what anyone would say if they found out about them. No one had loved her as he did. What they had was more special than she could put into words.[break][break]
The light in her eyes was clear when she saw the smoky tom. She placed the hare at his paws and gave his cheek a soft lick. "A rare find out here, but a lucky one." She meowed. Glancing into their den, she purred. "It's beautiful."

The ghost-striped tom purred at the DarkClan leader's touch before glancing back at the flowers he'd picked with a shy smile. "They reminded me of your eyes." He was reminded of her frequently, or perhaps it was merely because the lovely dusky she-cat was on his mind all the time. As a young leader, it was his duty to put his clan first, to think of them before anything else, but...Ravenstar had captured his heart. How could he not be in love with a cat as thoughtful and kind as she? The flowers had been perfect, as he'd gotten lost in them, the same way he got lost in her amiable pair of stormy-blues. He was doing it again, staring into her eyes and finding himself without words, so Stormstar bashfully looked away with a bow of his head, feeling his face heat up. He felt his stomach tense up and butterflies flutter around in his chest, the same way he felt on that fateful night that Ravenstar admitted her feelings for him. Desperately he sought out words, so he didn't make a complete sappy fool of himself. "It's a fine hare, not even some of my warriors can make such a clean kill." The leader decided before he remembered the other piece de resistance: the nest. He was a fine nest-maker, he took pride in what he had made. So he eagerly took a step back to reveal the bungalow he had created for Ravenstar and himself, a comfortable pile of leaves neatly lined by all sorts of cozy artifacts. "I think it's the best nest I've ever built." Was it childish of him to sound so proud? Of course not- this was for his dear lady, so everything had to be perfect, everything had to be the best. Ravenstar deserved that much. Thorne

Ravenstar purred in delight as he spoke. Who knew that the awkward tom could have a way with words? He was so sweet. Ravenstar never knew how to put her feelings into words. She didn't really know how to express her feelings if she was being completely honest. Affection like this wasn't something she received much as a kit. Her father refused to acknowledge her as his own after her element began to show. She experienced nothing but hate from her Clanmates in ThunderClan. Love like this was rare for her. She cherished this. How could she make him know how much she loved him? How could she put her feelings into words or even actions? She looked into their temporary haven and smiled. She could easily tell how much thought and effort Stormstar had put into making it the perfect night for just the two of them. It made her doubt her own efforts. Did he even know how special he was to her? Or did her eyes give it away every time they looked at one another? She hoped he knew. Ravenstar carried the hare into the den and waved her tail for him to follow, settling down into the nest, leaving plenty of room for Stormstar. "It's the softest nest I've ever felt!" She purred in delight. "Not even my nursery nests were this comfortable. You've outdone yourself, my love." She smiled. Ravenstar nudged the hare over to him, inviting him to have the first bite. She looked down at her paws, then turned her head to meet his soft gaze. "I love you more than you could know." She said. Those were the closest words she could find to meet how she felt, even if it wasn't much. 20mia08

The smoky feline felt his heart flutter in his chest at her words. Several moons prior to meeting Ravenstar, he never thought that he'd fall in love, considering he'd never felt it outside of the brotherly bond he felt to his littermate. He had thought romance impossible- after all, who could cherish a cat so indecisive and insecure about himself? Stormstar allowed himself to relax in the next beside his fellow leader, allowing his form to ease into the soft, dry leaves. A purr rumbled in his throat as he shyly scooted himself closer to the coal-furred molly, the scent of warm hare making his mouth water. "Thank you. I-I worked very hard on it." There was a glow of pride in his lime pools. The WindClanner accepted Ravenstar's invitation and eagerly took a large bite of the hare, savoring the prey animal's flavor before he turned to the DarkClan leader as she spoke, melting over her words. He absorbed the expression of her love that seemed so sincere, finding himself lost in the moment once more. "Take that love and triple it. That is how much I've fallen for you." Call him a cheese-ball, but what he said had felt right, more true than the warrior code that they were supposed to live by. Stormstar grew hot under his fur once more, and still he didn't understand why. Would he ever be more confident in her presence, to be the tom that she likely dreamed of? Or would he always act like a total buffoon in her presence, stumbling over his paws just as much as he stumbled over his words? He wanted to be better, for her...but if he could enjoy just these few imperfect moments with Ravenstar, he'd honestly be happy. He didn't need power, or to be some big buff perfect tom that swooped Ravenstar off her paws. He only needed her. Thorne
