The silvered tom appeared to be especially grumpy since his recent loss in combat against a WindClan tom. Frankly, he despised having the dark element- just like everyone else hated him for having it in RiverClan. It seemed so useless when it came to fighting, even if he preferred a surrounding tranquil atmosphere that left him in peace. What if some strange came out of nowhere and attempted to pulverize him? What was he supposed to do, bore his attacker to death by vanishing into the shadows left and right? It seemed that dark elements were created with the sole purpose of dying out. Grumpy Frostwhisper shifted in his nest so that he could press his charcoaled muzzle into his moss bedding, while his facial expression practically screamed "aggrieved". He had been left with no choice but to use his claws in the battle, which left him at a disadvantage and with no choice but to get burned- literally. He had been fighting a fire element. So, wow, it would have been really useful if he was actually a water element. At least it had been a perfect opportunity for the closed-off and foul-tempered tom to release some negative energy, even if he only felt more pout-y as a result. He was on temporary bed-rest for the evening until his wounds looked a little more promising, which only aggravated him further. Frostwhisper loathed being confined to camp with a load of fish-brains, even if the feeling of suffering and disappointment was mutual all around. RiverClan had lost its opportunity to win territory with sufficient prey, and as a result, they were bound to starve. Unless StarClan became merciful- but Frostwhisper was proof that the starry ancestors were anything but. Shifting once more to kick out a leg to find his comfort, the warrior released a stressed sigh before permitting his ears to move into a distressed position. He was itching to get out there, to find his peace by the sluggish gurgling of the semi-frozen river. But instead, he was stuck in the warrior's den with nothing but his sorrows to keep him company.

He had miss the battle, not that he wanted to take part anyways. He found violence to be infuriatingly unnecessary. His mother always taught him to be diplomatic, problems were best solved with words rather than with claws, or in their case, waves of water. Any other cat would fret that his clan would find him disloyal for his lack of fighting, and Ivysplash would be lying if he said he never worried about that, he loved his clan and wanted to serve its best interests, and to him you can achieve what you want just by talking it out.
It's not that he never fought when the clan got into skirmishes at their borders, he just preferred not to. He knew how to fight but his moves were mostly defensive in combat rather than offensive and in search of hurting someone. Fighting aggressively was just never his vibe, especially if he had to see those cats at the next gathering.
His fluffy tail whisked behind him as he entered the warrior's den, he spent most of the day hunting and was aching for a good nap. As he entered the den he noticed one other cat already laying in the den. He dipped his head at Frostwhisper, "lovely the weather, huh?" he asked. He had heard from the ivy vine that Frostwhisper had gotten injured in the last battle and was on bed rest.

He had lost count of how many times he attempted to shift in his nest in hopes of growing more comfortable, but still his bitter thoughts clouded his judgement and left him feeling bummed out. Perhaps it wasn't the lumpy nest after all. The charcoaled warrior was in the process of moving himself about in his nest once more when he felt a disturbance in his tense air, and overheard the low voice of a tom. Frostwhisper's grassy gaze darted over to the bicolor feline that he recognized as Ivysplash, a warrior younger than himself but likely many moons more "mentally mature" than the dark element. The scrutinizing gaze of Frostwhisper further narrowed as he mulled over the tom's words, letting it feed the rampaging inner storm that ravaged the darkest corners of his mind. Lovely weather, he had to be saying that intentionally. Was he just asking for a fight? Considering that Frostwhisper was itching to stab his claws into another cat after his loss, he would be more than happy to use this Ivysplash character as his own personal scratching post. "Like I would know." Those icy words were all that the fluffy tom got out of the sour-tempered dark element. As much as he'd like to pick another fight, his body was feeling otherwise. His burn wounds stung like a thousand angry bees, and his muscles were still screaming from all the pummeling he had both done and received from his opponent just a day prior. While the tom's mind demanded to release some bent-up energy, his body simply had nothing more to give. He might as well waste away in that StarClan-forsaken nest from the starvation his clan was about to face, because at the rate that his body was currently "healing", he wouldn't be permitted to go hunting tomorrow. bey

Ivysplash glanced at the tom, noticing his paw still injured, he vaguely wondered how exactly Frostwhisper injured his paw. Having elemental powers usually allowed for some distance fighting that wouldn't be too close to warrant a paw injury of that nature. He blinked in confusion as the tom had roughly answered him. Had he said something offensive? Then he realized with embarrassment that Frostwhisper had probably been cooped up in the warrior's den all day and didn't have the privilege of enjoying the warm New Leaf temperatures like Ivysplash had.
He would need to remedy this! He gave an apologetic smile, sitting down in his nest- which was located not only a few tail lengths away from Frostwhisper. "I'm sorry to hear that, tom. It looks like you've had it rough the past few days, I should've considered that, my bad."
He contiuned to ask, "how've you been feeling?", maybe Frostwhisper needed someone to vent to or something, not having a good day is valid and you shouldn't force yourself to be falsely okay for the sake of others, he mused to himself.

He had impulsively raced out into war for glory and for the hopes of temporarily venting his negative energy, and instead, he had traded his peaceful river-side haven away for this: some clanmate trying to "understand" him. This wouldn't be the first time, nor would it certainly be the last. Frostwhisper had discovered two different types of reactions towards his mopey attitude and dark element: those who were repulsed, and those who tried to "get" him. Personable wasn't in Frostwhisper's nature- his book was closed, and there would be no opening it. At least, this cat was reasonable enough to recognize his mistake and apologize for it. Perhaps the silvered tom was in a good enough mood to give him a chance. That, and he wasn't in the shape to get up and leave the den himself. Considering that Ivysplash practically had him cornered, it appeared that the wounded warrior had no choice but to be somewhat social for once in his life. How did he feel? Well- that much was obvious. "Burnt." The grumpy feline grunted in response. bey

Ivysplash nodded at the simple, if not terse, answer. He shifted around his nest, beginning to knead the moss to form it into a firmer shape. He didn't want to talk too much to Frostwhisper, from what he knew of the tom, he didn't like talking too much. Ivysplash was okay with the quiet though, he wasn't a huge chatterbox himself, in discussions between he'd rather sit back and listen to all the points before adding his own thoughts or guiding the conversation better. After a few moments of silence, he glanced back at Frostwhisper, looking at his wound, "Fire wounds can be a bit nasty, I've had a fire wound before, they hurt for days afterwards, sometimes even getting into water will irritate it." He felt satisfied with his kneading and stopped. With one quick turn, he curled back into his nest, his tail laying close to his nose and his gaze still fixed on to the other tom. 20mia08

He could feel himself falling into somewhat of a dizzy sleep as Ivysplash nodded off into silence, with nothing but the sound of the tom's claws ripping into the moss to keep him company. This was a much more bearable conversation for the moody warrior, one in tangible quietness rather than obnoxious blabbering. A cat of action, not words- that was him. So Frostwhisper made no attempt to break the momentary lapse of muteness and instead relished in it, for as long as he possibly could. With his eyes long since closed, the bicolored tom's continuation forced the sharp tom to crack open a single sliver of emerald. He had been so close to finally falling asleep, after all this time struggling to find a comfortable spot in his lumpy nest... "I don't think I'll be swimming any time soon, not until the waters are significantly warmer." Frostwhisper mumbled between trodden moss before forcing his eye shut once again. Ivysplash's comment brought only more dread to his heart, as the RiverClanner was quite fond of the rivers his his clan, and for many different reasons. He found their rhythmic gurgling to be consoling, and swimming in them was a favorite passing time of his. Unfortunately, both the weather and his enemy from earlier had different plans in store for Frostwhisper. bey

The bicolored tom yawned sleepily, nodding at Frostwhisper's comment. It was far too cold to enjoy the water just yet, but maybe in the next moon or so the water will warm up. Exhaustion was beginning to fully set in, as his mind numbly buzzed with all he had to do tomorrow, he was expected to go on dawn patrol, he also offered to help patch up dens... His eyes began to drift close, it was getting harder and harder to stay awake, "well, good night, Frostwhisper- I hope it feels better in the morning," he whispered, letting his eyes close one last time before he was plunged into the world of sleep. 20mia08
