History
History:
Kit: Born to the quiet but respected tom Storm- and proper but sharp-tongued she-cat Holly-, Aspenflight was a long-awaited kit for her parents. Holly- had miscarried once before and she and Storm- were over the moon when she gave birth to two healthy kittens: one gray tom, Soot-, and one silver tabby, Aspenflight. Storm- and Holly- instilled in their children strong ThunderClan values. Both Soot- and Aspenflight were raised to be proud of their ThunderClan heritage and to place their faith in the warrior code. Holly-, proud of her standing in the Clan as a seasoned and respected warrior, told Soot- and Aspenflight that they should never settle for second best and should always be better than their peers.
Apprentice: Consequently, by the time Aspenflight became an apprentice she had a single-minded drive to be better than every other apprentice. Aspenflight idolized her mentor Lion-, who was an exceptional hunter and taught Aspenflight how to conceal her silver tabby pelt.
Aspenflight’s competitiveness also extended to her brother, and for the first time the siblings argued. Soot- was naturally a better fighter and better with his element. It took multiple lectures from Lion- and Storm- before Aspenflight understood that there were multiple ways to serve ThunderClan. While Aspenflight turned her attention to being a better hunter and practicing her element, she never forgot the humiliation of losing fight after fight to her brother while others watched. Aspenflight’s resentment soured her relationship with Soot-, who now saw his sister as wanting to claim Soot-‘s glory as her own.
Warrior: Just before Aspenflight and Soot- were to be named warriors, Storm- died of a sudden but serious illness. Holly- was unable to cope with the loss and retired to the elders’ den. Aspenflight did her best to care for her mother as Holly- grieved, but Holly-‘s health continued to deteriorate until one exceptionally cold leaf-bare when she passed away.
Devastated by the loss of her mother and desperate to carry out her parents’ legacy as proud ThunderClan warriors, Aspenflight threw herself into serving her Clan and was ultimately made a mentor to Thrush-. Aspenflight earned a reputation as a strict but knowledgeable mentor, and while she often ruffled Thrush-‘s fur, the two became close and she was never prouder than when Thrush- was made a warrior. As Soot- was the only family she had left, Aspenflight reached out to him and they began to repair their relationship. Unfortunately, Soot- was recently killed when a badger attacked him while he was hunting.
Aspenflight comforts herself by telling herself her Clan is the only family she needs. She works hard to try and forget her sadness, but the deaths of her parents and brother are never far from her mind.
