It was another evening, the same as always for ThunderClan. Cats were beginning to settle down for the night. Mates and kin were sharing their meals, kits were playing among the roots of the great tree, practicing their climbing back up to the nursery branch. Earth and water elementals waited below, prepared to break their fall if needed.
Sharing tongues was a common evening activity on nights like these. There was an air of serenity, peace was rare during the past few moons in the valley. Sagewhisker was tending to his garden, Whitepaw watching carefully. Briarsong was coming back with the final hunting patrol of the evening.
Meadow- ran into camp, out of breath. “Fire!” She said, panting heavily. “There’s a fire coming towards the camp!”
Cats immediately began to scramble. Queens quickly grabbed their kits with the help of their Clanmates. Elders were escorted quickly out of camp.
“Get every cat out of camp! Get to the base of the mountains!” Lynxstar called.
Briarsong quickly rallied the Clan, taking the lead as Lynxstar kept the rear, making sure every cat made it out of camp.
The smoke became thick as they left camp. The fire was clearly raging rampantly wherever it had been started. The cats were more concerned about getting out alive than what started the fire.

Lynxstar gave a savage hiss as the flames licked at his fur. His eyes scanned the area, looking for a safe path away from the fire. He saw none, the flames rose high and bathed the sky a deep red. He would not let his clan fall to such a fate, so he grit his teeth and raised his voice.
”Peachdusk! Lightningstrike! Get to the front with Briarsong and put out any fire that gets in the way!” he yowled, nudging an elder back with the clan. He searched the crowed for Fishtail and Dogflight, relieved for a moment to see that they were among the senior warriors helping the kits get to safety. He turned his attention to his siblings, searching for Crowfang and Hollyfoot among the sea of pelts before shaking his head. They were competent warriors and even if they didn’t make it out alive...
He’d apologize to them personally.
His ear twitched at the sound of splintering wood, looking up just in time to see a tree fall over.
Right where one of his warriors was. He rushed over and stamped his paw, a wall of scorched earth rising up to meet the tree just before it made contact, and snapped his head towards them.
”Get moving!” he snarled.

- Through the fire and the flame we'll carry on -
Briarsong hissed as flames spat out towards her, ducking away and waving her tail for those behind her to do the same. The forest that was once green just hours ago was dark orange, filled with smoke, soot and flames. The ashes were piling up quickly. And to think this is a newleaf burn! She thought, flicking an ear.
Where would there be safe haven?
She knew Lynxstar would be too proud to seek shelter in WindClan's territory. And from what she heard from the WindClan apprentices that were recovering in their camp, she highly doubted they'd want to go in that wolf-ridden plain.
The forest will regrow. It always does. She thought to herself, hoping to find reassurance in those words. She couldn't show her anxiety in the matter. Briarsong continued on the path towards the river, hoping the flames hadn't engulfed the whole bank.
And of course, they had. There was no place in sight that wasn't ablaze. They couldn't head south, the territories down there weren't safe, especially for their elders and kits.
"We have to head to the mountains!" She called before coughing. The smoke burned her lungs. The base of the mountains was the only space in ThunderClan territory with little trees, and they could climb up a little higher if it came down to it. word count, notes, n stuff

Vixenleap had been eating a mouse while Crowfang stepped out of the warrior's den, immediately shooting the troublesome red-furred she-cat a suspicious glance at the scent of smoke. She was a fire element, after all- of course the childish furball would be his first assumption. However, Vixenleap gagged at the smoke and rose to her paws at the cries of her clanmates. She didn't hesitate to shoot the smoke warrior a hostile glance. "I didn't do it." She snarked in his direction before leaving camp as prompted.
----
Newtpaw perked her ears at her mentor's call, noting the stream of smoke that was rising above the horizon. Her instincts ordered her to flee like all the others, but she reminded herself that as he had a duty to do. As the leader's apprentice, she was responsible for helping out and ensuring that her clanmates fled from camp. She recalled that Acornpaw had run off into the apprentice's den to take a nap earlier, stressed out about his inability to control his powers.
Turning on her paws, the chocolate tortoiseshell darted back into the apprentice's den to see the cream tom cowering in the corner, having detected the scent of smoke and immediately growing fearful. "Get moving!" She barked at him before roughly shoving his side with her shoulder to force him along. Acornpaw stumbled out of the nursery with Newtpaw behind him to make sure nobody else had been left behind.

Peachdusk had been napping in the warriors den, jumping up at the cries of fire. Fire? Now? She'd shake sleep from her, forcing her way out of the den, narrowly missing stumbling into a fellow warrior. At the sight of smoke, her fur raised, eyes wide.
The tabby looked around frantically, helping her clanmates as they left the camp. She'd almost trip, but caught herself before she did, shaking her head as she continued. Perking her ears at the sound of her name, she'd look back, eyes focusing on Lynxstar. She'd nod frantically, pushing her way to the front of the clan, determined to keep them all safe. The smoke seemed to choke her, but she kept on, pulling as much water as she could to snuff out the flames around them. They'd all make it, right? They had to.
Raggedtuft hurriedly kept up with her clanmates. There wasn't much she could do; she had grabbed Batkit from the nursery, keeping the young kit low to the ground, an attempt to keep the smoke away. Beside her, Spiderbite kept as much burning debris from the clan as he could. He seemed nervous, looking around for his family.
Her eyes landed on Lilacpaw and Whitepaw, both carrying as many herbs as they could. Lilacpaw was a fire element; though there was no way she could do something like this, even if it were an accident. The smoke was beginning to sting her eyes and lungs, and she'd wonder if they would all make it. What did they do to deserve this? Though the smoke kept her struggling to see, she managed to stay at Batkits' mother's side, keeping pace with the queen as they carried the kits.

The smoke was beginning to mess with Copperlight’s breathing - he could hardly go a second without suppressing a cough. He knew that he would eventually have to get the smoke out of his lungs soon enough, but he strained to hear his leader’s orders over the crackling of the flames. He could see that Fogpaw wasn’t having much better luck, though he was struggling to find Acornpaw between all of the flames. He knew he had to help the young tom anyway he could, but how could he? He was struggling to get himself out of harm’s way, what could he do?
Lilacheart.
Copperlight lifted his head and wildly looked around for his sibling, the smoke already making his eyes water. He couldn’t stop - Lynxstar wouldn’t allow him to - but he could only hope that Lilacheart was safe with the clan.

Hawktalon aimed to remain in camp for as long as he physically could, to ensure that his clanmates had escaped. Despite the self-centered warrior having a general disliking for all walks of life (outside of his mentor, Lynxstar, he was alright), he had a strong sense of duty and aimed to ensure that ThunderClan survived the fire....after all, some clan had to stand up to the likes of DarkClan and his sister, Ravenstar. The shrewd feline's cold gaze scanned camp before he spotted the familiar mottled pelt of Newtpaw, the chosen heiress to the throne. She was indeed important. The massive warrior made his way over to the coughing apprentice and gave her a powerful shove with his broad shoulders. "Get out of camp- you've done all that you can." Newtpaw considered arguing before hesitating and deciding that the tom was right. It was important that she made sure that all who evacuated made their way to reunite with the rest of the clan, rather than getting lost in the smoke. As Newtpaw left, the long-furred tom poked his head into a few of the dens, squinting against the agonizing smoke. They seemed to be clear of cats, and so he snaked his way towards the camp's exit to help funnel the remaining cats out. Hawktalon noticed Copperlight, who seemed to be gagging on the smoke. Need to be mindful of the flames... He reminded himself, noting that creating a poorly-aimed gust of wind might spread sparks or only feed the hungry fire. The dark warrior took aim, and forced a small funnel of air in Copperlight's direction to hopefully provide him with cleaner oxygen. He better not think of me as a friend after this.Blaze

Copperlight would’ve passed out right then and there, but a sudden gust of clean air had made him light headed and grateful all the while. He searched for his savior and noticed Hawktalon not too far away. He gratefully nodded to the tom but he would give him a proper thank you once they all got to safety. Wherever that may be

Soft-tail
Smoke raked at the tabby’s lungs as the fire began to eat away at their camp. They would rebuild it soon after the flames died, but it would not be easy and it would not be soon. Fear and confusion mingled in the air as the entire clan trampled the drying earth in order to escape the heat’s grasp. Having lived in the shadows of oaks and birches, the tom was not used to this. Not many in ThunderClan were. Louder than the crackling of wood breaking under the fire’s terror, Lynxstar yowled orders as they went. Many were already coughing, and if it wasn’t for the few Air Elements keeping the air flowing, some may have died already. Soft-tail’s eyes darted around, searching for anyone in need. His gaze quickly noticed the queens fleeing with kits in tow. He gave a grateful nod to the warriors helping and went to join them, picking up a kit by the scruff of its neck. Template by Kuroya of THQ & GS. Eelchaser With a startle, the silver warrior leaped into the centre of the camp, electricity flowing through is fur. Once a dark blue sky turned into a chaotic beast, hungry to eat the forest and all within it. Fear hung around the camp. Eelchaser joined in with the blockage of fur at the entrance, pushing forward to try and escape the heat’s rampage. Something must have been severely wrong if such a large fire began in early Newleaf and he doubted anyone wanted to know why. Was StarClan angry at them? Was a traitor among them? Did another Clan decide to invade ThunderClan? These were all questions the warrior had. But in his scrambled debate of what had happened, the tom remembered something he should not have forgotten. “Acornpaw!”With a jolt in his step, the cat turned around. His view flashed over the camp within seconds and he quickly found his apprentice, led by Newtpaw. Hawktalon spoke with her briefly but he had left to help someone else before Eelchaser made it to the two apprentices. The she-cat had already started to trot to the exit, but the warrior gave her a grateful look before turning his attention to his scared apprentice. “Come on, we have to go,” meowed the tom before pushing the cream cat forward. Template by Kuroya of THQ & GS. Hailsky “Well, this is new,” murmured the she-cat as a wildfire raged. After a handful of seconds of her cold, blue eyes staring right into the heart of the flames, the warrior realised something: the fire wasn’t natural. There were no storms to have lit a tree - or more - alight, and the air was still cold and wet, meaning the sun wouldn’t have been able to raise flames from a rotten log. Someone must have made it. But who? However, the cat was quickly hurled back into reality as others pushed her around. No matter how interesting the fire may have been, a fire is a fire, and if she didn’t move, the flames would have eaten her up. Even for a well-trained Fire Element, such flames were too much to survive with. Not wasting another moment, Hailsky slipped through a crack of the filled exit and followed the rest of the Clan to the mountains, as they were told. Her head still glanced back once in a while at the chaos. Template by Kuroya of THQ & GS.

The roar of the flames in your ears feels almost deafening. The crack of splitting, collapsing trees echoed through the burning forest.
Smoke fills your lungs, making every breath feel almost agonizing.
Through the bright flames and dark smoke, it's hard to make out where your Clanmates are. You struggle to stay together while powering through the forest, trying to avoid fallen trees that are ablaze, charred brush, and other dangerous obstacles. Each pawstep is difficult, especially if you weren't one of the lucky ones to escape without a patch of singed flesh.
The elders, kits, and injured struggle to keep up. You and your comrades turn to help those you can, when suddenly a tree falls over, blocking the path ahead to the mountains.
The Water Elementals try their best to clear a path while Earth Elementals who still have enough strength begin to move rocks and boulders to climb around. Air Elementals try their hardest to clear the smoke as carefully as they can, knowing that one stray breeze can fan the flames even higher. It feels as if you're trapped with no way out.
A voice you recognize calls out among the crowd.
"Over here, hurry!"
You pair yourself with another Clanmate, or perhaps one of the apprentices from WindClan, and push your way through the path that someone had found.
Continuing on until the base of the mountains becomes clearer, you make sure to stay close to your companion, knowing well that if you lose each other in the smoke and flames, someone may die tonight. You cough, the smoke in your lungs stinging like venom.
Lynxstar collapses into a coughing fit, Sagewhisker quickly making his way to the older tom's side to lift him back onto his paws.
Briarsong's voice rang in your ears as you finally reach the base of the mountains. Your eyes fall on what had caught her attention. "A cave! Quickly now, take shelter in here!"
You and your Clanmates quickly hurry into the cave, large enough to house a bear and her cubs. You check the air cautiously. No scents from any potential predators. You were safe here.
For most, this was not their first forest fire. This was, however, one of the worst in ThunderClan's history in The Valley.
Sagewhisker and Whitepaw were making the rounds, checking the severity of everyone's conditions. There weren't many cats who had it bad, though a few were pulled to the back of the cave where Sagewhisker could observe them carefully if their condition worsened.
Two cats were assigned to keep watch at the entrance of the cave and monitor the fire. If it got too close, you would be forced to scale the mountain to higher ground.
Here's hoping that wouldn't be the case.

Lynxstar was struggling to stay on his paws, but he forced himself to keep walking, to hold in the cough in his throat, in order to make sure everyone was still alright. He’d warned Duskstar at the gathering that seemed so long ago now, he was going to make good on his threat. For now, though, ThunderClan had to regroup. ThunderClan had to lick its wounds and strike back twice as hard when the time was right. He was brash back then, but he knew better now. Someday soon would come the chance for revenge. All he had to do was sit back and wait for it.
He helped herd the stragglers into the cave, grateful for Briarsong more than he ever had been before. He noticed something was off about a few of his warriors, then he noticed that he had less warriors than he had before. It was like something was clawing at his belly, dread setting in as he realized his warriors may have perished in that inferno. He shook his head, no. No, he was at the very back of the clan, there was no way anyone could’ve died before they got to the cave. They were here, he was sure of it. They were just somewhere he couldn’t see, he was getting up there in age, his eyes weren’t what they used to be. But still...
”Headcount,” he murmured, before raising it so Briarsong could hear. ”We need a headcount. I want to make sure everyone’s here.”
