You’re something out of a dream #### @tag Great StarClan she was bored!
Mosspaw sat impatiently in the cave, a pout on her face. Sagewhisker wouldn't let her out no matter what excuse she'd come up with. Why did Eveningpaw get to go soon? She wanted to leave with her sister, not sit here all day with these boring ThunderClan cats! They were all serious and stuck up, always talking about justice and righteousness. Yeah right! She thought.
The tortoiseshell she-cat looked around, the cave mostly populated by the worst of the burn & smoke victims. Most of the healthy cats were out on patrol, trying to hunt or grow back some of the forest.
A lot of the forest she could see from the cave was still charred, however some of the earth elementals had managed to make some grasses grow back. Hopefully the greenery would bring some prey. She knew firsthand that these cats were hungry.
She faced hostility due to her getting some priority on the food, thanks to her injury. Sagewhisker fought to get her some food, saying she needed it to make her recovery. "The faster she recovers, the faster we won't have to feed her anymore." Is what she head the tom say.
Mosspaw just wanted to leave. She wanted to get out of the cave, stretch her legs, do something that wasn't just sit around and listen to Lynxstar complain all day. StarClan that ancient tom was annoying!
She let out a loud, dramatic groan, to make it known that she wasn't pleased. Someone should respond to that. Hopefully. Messing with my head

The medicine cat apprentice trotted into the cave, large ears perked up. Her amber eyes scanned the cats briefly before making her way to Mosspaw, staring down at her. "Are you in pain?" Whitepaw asked, tilting her head. "I heard you outside." She'd say, giving her a tired smile - or rather, an attempt at one. Whitepaw had been almost non-stop working, gathering herbs for Sagewhisker, tending to the injured, or telling warriors to get back in their nests.
Turning her head as another cat groaned in pain, she'd shake her head. So many of her clanmates were hurt, or worse. Several had died in the fire; thankfully no one in her family had. Whitepaw herself had only gotten minor injuries. She'd pray to Starclan, but she didn't much care about them. Ancestors or not, the living were more important to her. With a sigh - mostly of annoyance - the feline began to check the other cats, all while waiting for Mosspaw's reply. "Well? Do you need anything, Mosspaw?"

You’re something out of a dream #### Mosspaw pricked up her ears when she heard Whitepaw. Finally! She thought to herself. She shook her head at Whitepaw's question, flicking her ear as someone else groaned.
The tortoiseshell groomed the fur on her chest, offering her a smile. "I'm not hurting anywhere right now, no." She meowed, flicking her tail. "I'm just bored out of my mind! Like sheesh, don't you guys live a little?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.
That may have come off as rude, given the current situation that ThunderClan found itself in. She huffed as she repositioned herself.
"Your old man already changed my wraps today." She said, referring to Sagewhisker. "But you should take a break every now and then. I don't really think I've seen you take one since we moved out here." She pointed out. Messing with my head

She nodded at the tortoiseshell's reply, moving to sit beside her, curling her tail over her paws. "I'm not sure I know what you mean." Whitepaw replied, tilting her head in confusion. She'd glance around, then looked to outside the cave. She could ask Sagewhisker if the two could leave the cave, even for a little bit. Whitepaw was large enough - and strong enough, most likely - to help Mosspaw if she needed it.
Mosspaw's inquiry made her eyes return to the apprentice. It was true. She barely slept anymore, unless she was forced to by Sagewhisker. She hated seeing her clanmates in pain, and hated it even more knowing that she couldn't do much to help. "That is-" Her sentence was interrupted by a yawn. "True." A chuckle left her jaws, ears pinning down in embarrassment. "But I'll be fine. The warriors need to get back on their paws."
But great Starclan was she tired. Not the sleepy kind of tired - she needed a break from healing the same injuries. She'd probably even thank a cat with a thorn in their paw for Starclan's sake. Perhaps she could use Mosspaw as an excuse to get out of the makeshift camp...? Or would that be rude? She didn't know. "I...Kind of want to leave the camp. For a little while, I mean."

You’re something out of a dream #### Mosspaw giggled when Whitepaw didn't understand what she meant. "I'll let you figure that one out on your own." She purred. She yawned, then flexed her front claws into the dirt as she listened to Whitepaw speak again.
The molly nodded. "Yeah, but that's what having two medicine cats is for. Sagewhisker can take care of this lot on his own, he's been doing it for like, ever." She meowed.
She stood up, balancing on her three healthy paws and stretched as if she'd been living like this her whole life, already adapting well to her injured leg. "I wanna get outta here too. It's no fair Eveningpaw gets to leave and I gotta stay." She complained.
Mosspaw looked back, seeing Sagewhisker pre-occupied with other cats. "He's busy, so I'm sure he won't notice if we go missing. Old grouch is asleep, and bossy tortie is out on patrol. I think we're in the clear to leave if you wanna go out." She meowed. Messing with my head

The confusion was written across her face still, but was soon replaced with a smile. "That's also true. I suppose Sagewhisker could do without my help for a bit..." The apprentice said, standing up and making sure no one heard them. Every cat was asleep, already distracted, or just in too much pain to care about what a couple of apprentices were talking about. Sagewhisker could definitely manage without her. Or, she hoped so, at least.
As soon as Mosspaw stood though, Whitepaw was at her side, offering to let the tortoiseshell lean against her if needed. "If we go now, no one will see us. Are you sure you wanna go?" Concern was evident in her voice, an eyebrow raising quizzically at Mosspaw. "We could just walk around here if you don't want to." The medicine apprentice offered, though she was eager to leave the camp altogether. The scent of smoke was still in the air, and she was just overall tired of being there.
She loved helping her clanmates. She adored it. Being a medicine cat was all she had ever wanted, and perhaps she did take it a tad far with her severe lack of sleep. This small excursion with the Windclanner wouldn't hurt her. Or she hoped it wouldn't, at least.

You’re something out of a dream #### "That's the spirit!" She purred when Whitepaw agreed with her proposition. Mosspaw offered a bright smile and shook her head when she asked if she just wanted to walk around here.
"I think I've seen enough of this dumb cave. Besides I don't think these cats will appreciate me tripping all over them." She said, flicking her tail. Mosspaw limped towards the exit of the cave, squinting from the change of light.
The tortoiseshell apprentice looked back to see if Whitepaw was following. The fresh air outside the cave wasn't so fresh -- it was still lingering with smoke and ash. There wasn't the familiar smell of the moor, just charred trees. There was no blue sky today either, grey clouds covered the sky. She sniffed the air.
It would rain soon, possibly later in the evening.
It could be worse. She could be an injured cat in the wolf-infested WindClan territory. Mosspaw wondered how things were back home. She longed to be under the open sky again.
She shook her head, pushing the homesick thoughts away. "I'm ready whenever you are." Messing with my head

She'd quickly follow the Windclanner, closing her eyes as the light brightened. The now familiar scent of smoke clung to her, and she almost wondered if there was another fire. "Come on, we have to go before someone sees us." She said, keeping her voice low. Leading the apprentice away from the cave - with the occasional looking around to make sure no one saw - they were finally out. Whitepaw let out a sigh of relief.
"The other earth elementals have been repairing the forest. Or, trying to." Whitepaw pointed her nose towards the grass that had began to grow in the ash, a small smile on her face. Even if the air didn't smell like she wanted, she could still relax. "Where should we go?" There weren't many nice areas they could go to anymore. Most of them had been burned in the fire, and even if they hadn't been burned down, the young feline still wouldn't know where to go.
Perhaps she could even collect a few herbs while they were out, if they came across any. It certainly wouldn't hurt to keep their stores stocked up. "I'm sorry Eveningpaw has to leave before you can. I'm sure your clan misses you." Whitepaw suddenly said as she began to walk in a random direction. "Lets go this way. The scent of smoke might not be as strong. I'm sure you're tired of it by now."

You’re something out of a dream #### Mosspaw nodded and followed Whitepaw out of the cave, looking around at her surroundings. The mountains now to her rear, and the ruined forest ahead. Quite the time to be visiting ThunderClan.
When asked where she wanted to go, Mosspaw simply flicked her ear. "I dunno. Never really been anywhere in ThunderClan territory." She pointed out. "Asides from the fire, of course. I saw it on fire, so that was kinda cool I guess." Then cleared her throat, realizing what she had just said was insensitive. "Sorry."
Mosspaw nodded when Whitepaw spoke again. "It's fine, I guess. She'll get to deal with mama's wrath first, so maybe it won't be so bad when I get home." She smiled. She followed Whitepaw as she picked a direction, limping behind the white feline. "Or it might be worse. Who knows?" Messing with my head

The white feline only laughed and shook her head. "You don't have to apologize. I'm not a warrior; I'm not self-righteous like they are." Whitepaw said, crouching and crawling under a fallen log, making sure Mosspaw could get under it. "Careful; I don't need an ear full from Sagewhisker if you mess up your wraps." Occasionally, she'd stop to sniff at different plants, though she didn't pick any yet. "Your stay here in Thunderclan sure has been eventful, huh? With the fire, I mean."
At the mention of Mosspaw's mother, she'd raise an eyebrow. "Wasn't it an accident though? Why would she get mad about that?" Stopping to sniff at yet another plant, she'd sigh and shake her head. "Wanna choose a new direction? We probably shouldn't go too far away."

You’re something out of a dream #### Mosspaw nodded as Whitepaw spoke. "Okay, good. Listening to those cats go on and on about Clan politics is soo boring. They're so full of themselves, thinking they're better than all the other Clans." She replied.
She watched as Whitepaw tested crouching under a log, then carefully lowered herself to get under without her injured leg touching the ground. Mosspaw flicked a tail. "That old cat's got nothing to worry about, look, still good as new." She purred.
The tortoiseshell hummed at Whitepaw's comment. "Yeah, I suppose it has. It was super boring until the fire happened. It was nerve wracking at first, but looking back, it was kinda fun in a weird way. I'd love to outrun the flames with four good legs, but on three makes it an even bigger brag to my other littermates back home." She said.
Mosspaw rolled her eyes. "You underestimate a traditional WindClan mother. It'll be my fault for having the stupid idea of leaving camp while there's a pack of wolves roaming the moor. She'll be happy to see me, sure, but I'll get a scolding for disobeying direct orders from Stormstar." She huffed.
She sniffed around and turned her head in a new direction, nodding as Whitepaw asked. "Let's try this way." Messing with my head

A snort left her as Whitepaw listened to the Windclanner. "We Thunderclanners are a proud bunch, aren't we? But I suppose all clans are." Whitepaw herself didn't care much for politics. In fact, she barely listened to warriors that discussed them. "I'm not a warrior, so I guess I don't understand it."
Watching Mosspaw crawl under the log, she smiled as her leg came out unscathed. "Good. I really don't think I could handle Sagewhisker scolding me anytime soon." A bad attempt at a small joke, but a joke nonetheless. Still, she'd stay close to Mosspaw just in case. She really didn't want to know what kind of punishment Sagewhisker would give her should the apprentice get hurt.
Ears twitching at every sound, she almost didn't pay attention to Mosspaw's words. It was quite the shock when the Windclan apprentices had been brought into the camp, and an ever bigger shock to know that wolves attacked them. She was worried Mosspaw wouldn't survive, but luckily she had. "I'm sure it was. Especially with our leader, Lynxstar. He's...quite the cat. I personally don't like him all that much, but, he is my leader." She snapped her jaws shut at her words, ears flattening. Whitepaw couldn't believe she said that out loud.
"Really? I guess I wouldn't understand anyway. My mother and father would just shower me with affection and blame the wolves themselves if I were you." The two seemed so very different. Opposites, even. And, well, to be fair, they were opposites.

You’re something out of a dream #### Mosspaw huffed as Whitepaw spoke of Lynxstar. "Great StarClan I swear that cat has hares for brains!" She laughed. "He's so weird! So stuck up and angry all the time!" She purred in amusement.
She flicked her ear when Whitepaw mentioned her parents. "A loving father sounds nice." She hummed. "Mine didn't care to contribute to anything. Mama and him fell apart before we were born. I don't like him. I don't even really care enough to know his name." She purred. "I think I'll just call him St..eef..?"
She shook her head. "Nah, using my head too much." She laughed. Mosspaw glanced around, then flicked her tail. "Hey, that's green. Maybe a plant you guys use?" Messing with my head

Whitepaw let out a laugh. "That certainly is Lynxstar. For as long as I can remember, he's always been like that, and I'm sure even Sagewhisker could agree on that." The medicine cat replied with a purr, sending the Windclanner a grin.
Her grin faded as Mosspaw began to talk about her father. "Really...? Well, I don't like him either, then." The feline replied, finishing the sentence with a nod of approval of her own words. Whitepaw was always confused at how cats couldn't care for their own kits. Then again, her parents were probably the best.
As they came to a stop, the apprentice dipped her head down, sniffing at the plant Mosspaw had pointed out. "I'll take it back with us just in case. Can't ever be too short on herbs." She replied, neatly biting the plant, holding it gently in her jaws.
