| Self-sacrifice Can Shove it -- And that's the "earnestness" between the two of us The climb back up the mountains wasn't something that Viper had been looking forward to doing, however the sooner she got up, the sooner she could finally groom the blood out of her fur.
The cat she'd executed had put up a fight, that was for sure. Viper had thought she had the element of suprise, but the feline she killed had a greater advantage: a power similar to that of Vultureclaw's. If anyone needed any proof that they were in the right place, her drenched fur was it.
A wave of water crashing over her was no meer coincidence. It was a stream, and there was no way anything like that could have come from a natrual stream. That feline moved the water with their mind. Murder in the Valley would prove a challenge.
She relished it.
Viper lept up a ledge, following the scent of the rest of the group. Eventually, she made it to the temporary camp. The Scavengers were all here. All of them except Vultureclaw. Out hunting?
Viper sat down and began to groom her paws, getting the in-betweens where small stones, dirt, and blood had gotten stuck. She looked up and huffed as she locked eyes with one of her companions who was watching her.
"The Hell'r'you lookin' at?" She grumbled, flicking her tail. TAGS: @name, @name, @name NOTES: Scavengers Only!! Giving the chance for the group to intermingle a little! |

Of course he was jealous that he hadn't been given the first assignment.
What more, Vultureclaw had taken off without him, and he could imagine why. It upset him, brought forth another overwhelming surge of envy and a strong desire to increase his own reputation. He was a good soldier, was he not? There was no arguing against the real reason why he'd been invited along on the mission- blood, it was...a special thing. But he didn't want the others to disrespect him because of that. He wanted to be the favorite, to be the best, for Vultureclaw to stop running after...her.
No, Recluse wanted to go after her. He wanted her to have a taste of what he'd been feeling for all of those moons.
...Maybe then he'd finally have the respect he deserved.
He sat in wait like some silly dog, narrowing his shrewd gaze as the familiar jet coat of Viper came into view. The darkness of her fur made it difficult to distinguish blood from water, and at first glance, she appeared soaked. It was hard to envision the blood that mottled the rogue's coat until she came closer, finally arriving in camp after a long trek uphill.
The desperate feline's eyes only narrowed further at her comment. Hope I don't tell my father, you should. He didn't appreciate her crude language, but it was to be expected in the rag-tag band of hardcore cats. "Order you to splash around in a pond, father did not." Recluse huffed after nodding to the wet dark fur that clung to the molly's sides. "...Underestimated them, it would seem you have. Expect a normal cat, did you not?" A bratty son, a thorn in the side. He replicated this image well, but he reminded himself of the place he truly held in this band of cats. If he was to rise up to the top, he would not get there with disrespect.
He held his tongue, swallowing the bitter resentment he felt towards the successful huntress. "...Succeed in your task, you have. The blood that mars your coat, telling it is."Thorne

| Self-sacrifice Can Shove it -- And that's the "earnestness" between the two of us Viper rolled her eyes as Recluse spoke. The unloved prince, the son who lacked a proper title. Her glare held on the younger tom, a flick of her ear to signal she disliked his tone. The black feline lifted her chin as he spoke of her wet coat, making it clear she wasn't in the mood for his snarky comments. "Yer father didn't order ya t'be a fucken nuissance there, bud." She growled.
"Shoulda left you in the city t'give the dogs somethin' t'eat." She lashed her tail.
Viper groomed her flank as he praised her work. "Kissing my hind won't getcha my title. Y'won't be your pop's second. Not when yer such a disappointment t'um." She sneered.
The molly was somewhat aware of the feelings shared between the two toms. Seeing Recluse's determination to prove himself, only for Vultureclaw to be disappointed time and time again, it was clear that there was something deeper than just Recluse being a little shit and a thorn in her side.
Viper sighed. "Only wish I coulda taken out more. 'D love to experiment'n' learn counters t'those damn magical hosers." |

This is why he didn't elect to be openly kind towards others- it was never appreciated, so why even put the effort in? The lynx point bit a lip as he attempted to swallow a growl as the she-cat chose to casually berate him in the public eye of the clowder. "Nuisance, I am not!" The smaller-sized tom barked out a response with his fur on end. By the stars, if he had the ability to control the elements...he'd summon a damned lightning storm to strike Viper from where she stood. How dare she have the audacity to mention his father and their relationship. "Business between my father and I, it is ours alone! Your nose...keep it out of it." As Recluse's voice began to drip with venom, and he had to unsheathe his claws to steady himself from where he stood. He wanted to rip her throat out for saying all of that. He wanted to will her out of his world, just like he wished to force his sister out of it. But he had no choice...he had to play along with it. "...Sucking up, I am not." He seemed to steady himself, willing in a sensation of calm despite the agonizing loathing he felt towards Viper in those moments. "Compliments you cannot take, my fault it is not." He added in those words quietly, as remnants of the resentment that remained. He tried to move on, to let go of the indignation that had become so ingrained in him, but it felt impossible to do so. The hatred that burned so deeply in his heart, the emotion of betrayal and jealousy directed at his sister...it overruled everything. It made him nearly forget everything else, save for his ambition and desperation to win his father's heart. But in truth, all of that was tied together. It was all one big bundle of frustration. Recluse had no idea what a "hoser" was- Viper said strange things to him. He imagined the cats here spoke in a different dialect as well, maybe something similar to Viper. Ugh, they were asking too much of his brain... "...different clans, different elements they must have. Counter water you might, but fire..."Thorne

Viper rolled her eyes. "Yer pops tells me all the time about how much've disappointment y'are, so it is somewhat my business, bud." She flicked an ear.
She stretched, flexing her claws. She already envied her next assignment. She needed something to do so she didn't have to be stuck with this miserable kitten. A pathetic excuse for a scavenger. A pathetic excuse for a living cat. He had yet to prove himself in her eyes, and didn't understand why Vultureclaw decided to bring him along.
"Not all'v'us have small thought capabilities. Th'r's a counter to everything. Y'just gots ta find it first. Trial and error." |

No, his father didn't mean it...! It was a reality that he had to bitterly face, but it was something he refused to admit to. No, with enough effort and elbow-grease, he could prove himself a capable son and make his father proud. If he found her and brought her back...that would surely win his sire over. Recluse sent the dusky molly a resentful glare before curling his lip. "...Prove myself, I will." He wasn't sure if he was telling this to Viper, or himself. It sort of seemed to be the latter. He snorted at her comment towards his "small thinking abilities" and disregarded his companion as nothing more than a fool. If she wanted to play around with fire and get burned to a crisp, then so be it. Maybe if she just used her claws rather than her teeth, she wouldn't get fried. Genius. "Reality it is, small thinking it is not." The lynx point stated firmly, sliding his scrutinizing blues back over to Viper. "Claw the life out of fire, you cannot. Try...only a fool would."Thorne

She growled, rising to her paws. "Anyone can claw th'life outta fire if'y'r fast enough. Not everyone's a hoser like you, bud." She growled.
The black feline yawned.
"Yer scivey, 'n I don't like that about'cha." She grumbled. "Here's hopin' yer pops brought'cha 'long to be a sacrificial rat t'draw out the bigger prey." She smirked.
Viper showed her teeth in a slight smile. "How I'd love t'a be th'one t'put'cha out." |
