He had spent most of his evening patrolling, hunting the land for trace signs of wolves until his paws were burning and begging for him to return to camp. It was foolish of him to go out alone, but he preferred it that way. He didn't want anymore of his clanmates getting hurt, especially when he had nine full lives of his own to spare. Better one or three of his lives than the singular lives of his clanmates, cats who had families and friends of their own. Besides, he liked to have his peace underneath the stars as he stalked the earth, with his mind drifting to be his beloved Ravenstar and to the grave situation they'd gotten themselves into with their unborn kittens. He tried his hardest to find a solution, so they could be one happy family together. But StarClan seemed content on keeping them apart. He just wanted to see her happy again. Stormstar had stepped into his den late that evening, finding tranquility in the comfort of the darkness. He held a slight fear of it before, a sort of apprehension because he knew not what it held. But slowly, he had grown inquisitive of it, and through Ravenstar, he learned to love and embrace it. He had nothing to fear within the shadows. The tom had come to admire the peaceful landscape of WindClan in the dark, when the grass was still and the crickets offered their pleasant song. He had come to love the feeling of dew beneath his paws, no matter how cold its touch. Night had become his place of happiness, his secretive haven. While their leader seemed like an open book, he had more secrets than they could ever imagine. The feline had curled up in his nest, content with his evening patrol before he finally slipped into a slumber. Although he had been anticipating that he'd be greeted by nothing but sleep, he found himself surrounded in a suffocating forest, with tall trees crowding his vision and darkness swallowing him whole. It felt like a nightmare- there was no peace here, not the serenity he found in the night with the DarkClan molly. This shadowed forest, it was no haven. Something about it was undoubtedly dangerous, and thinking on it, Stormstar did not feel alone. His head spun around in the direction of a snapping twig, dilated eyes desperately searching the shade behind the trees. But the fog and shadows, they were too thick for him to see through. "...H-Hello?" The awkward tom called out, beginning to feel as if something was stalking him. Was it the wolves? Had they infiltrated his dreams as well? But as he verbally reached out, he received no sensible answer. There was a strange vibration in the air, a sort of rumbling growl- or maybe taunting laughter, he could not tell. It sounded demonic. It sounded wrong. It became deafening, to where Stormstar cowered in his place and prayed that he'd wake up from the awful nightmare. But then suddenly, there was silence. In the midst of the stillness, he still felt as if he was not alone. Before he could even see anything, he felt himself tumbling into the gloom, with a piercing pain suddenly plunging into his throat. He cried out and tried to kick out at his attacker, but felt his claws connecting with nothing but air and dusk. "Hunters lurk in the dark."The voice was all he heard once he sprung back into reality, greeted by dawn's light that barely trickled into his den. He was breathing hard- his heart was racing, pounding like the paws of pursuing wolves. Hunters? In the dark? He didn't understand- what was StarClan trying to warn him about? They already knew that wolves were hunting them- that much was obvious! They...they couldn't have meant DarkClan, right? No. Stormstar told himself firmly, swallowing a lump in his throat. No. I won't let StarClan turn me against DarkClan. They've done us no wrong. He sat upright in his nest, nervously kneading his nest as he tried desperately to regain himself. With their medicine cat suddenly passing, he had no cat to talk to.

I found a way
And so the morning came and swept the night away As I was looking for a way to disappear Amongst the quiet things And all these empty streets I found a way, I found a way to reappear
+ @tagged2 + short note + more if u need | Sleep eluded the molly, it seemed. Some moons had passed since the wolves had first invaded WindClan Territory, and yet they remained despite their best efforts to rid themselves of the problem. The tunnels were a good idea, but how long could they hide away from the canines? Not all prey would slip into their grasp underground, they still needed patrols above ground. How long until the wolves picked every last one of them off, one by one? Something had to be done eventually.
Duskflower stretched out her legs as the lilac-point rested on her side. She sighed, trying to fall asleep once more.
No luck.
How long had she been trying to sleep?
The warrior rose to her paws, parting her jaws in a yawn. She carefully stepped over the sleeping bodies of her fellow warriors until she left the den. It was nearly moonhigh. She sighed, sitting down in front of the den. Maybe if she tried sleeping under the stars?
Movement from Stormstar's den caught her eye. Was he just rolling over, or was the leader also struggling to sleep tonight?
Duskflower quietly padded over, peering into the den. "Stormstar, are you awake?" She whispered in case the tom was still asleep.

As he continued to ponder the meaning of the message, he began to wonder if he was all alone in this. With the recent passing of their designated medicine cat, there was no knowing what the others had heard. Was it foolish of him to think that the other clans might have received ominous messages as well? He wished Mistypelt was still with them. Stormstar understood that he could trust anything with the medical feline, just as he could trust in her advice. Now, what about Prim? How could he ensure that she had her continued treatment, with their talented medicine cat now walking among the stars? The leader found himself sitting alone in silence and darkness. He briefly winced as his mind wondered to Ravenstar, with whom he had all of his faith and trust in. If it wasn't for her, WindClan might have disbanded underneath the unrelenting pressure of the wolves. The tunnels systems had been entirely her idea, a fact he had to keep to himself for their own safety. If only she was there with him...she might decipher the meaning of StarClan's message. But then again, were either of them truly close with their ancestors anymore, since they'd defied their laws? Stormstar's gaze was unusually hard on the earth within his den, but a fleeting voice caught his attention. It was from outside his den, and it was then that he raised his visionaries to spot one of his Earth warriors standing near his den. "...Yes, I'm awake." He admitted quietly, with the fear from his nightmare slowly dissipating from his heart. "Are you alright?" It wasn't often that he received visitors- most WindClan cats slept well due to their busy schedule with avoiding the wolves. So immediately, the selfless leader assumed there were greater troubles afoot without regarding the time of dawn it was. fern

+ @tagged2 + short note + more if u need | Duskflower flicked an ear as Stormstar replied. Her suspicion was confirmed, it appeared that he hadn't been sleeping well either.
As he asked what was wrong, the lilac-colored she-cat shook her head. "Just restless is all," She replied. "I couldn't tell if you were awake or not."
The warrior sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws.
"You seemed troubled, is everything alright? If you don't mind me asking, that is." She shuffled her paws.
Duskflower wanted to help in any way that she could, noting that the last couple of moons have been eventful for WindClan, having been dealing with the wolves and countless deaths. Having lost both her parents to the canines, she just wanted all this to be over with.
She couldn't imagine the stress it brought upon Stormstar, who became leader so soon after being appointed deputy.
