Stormstar
Life felt empty, knowing that his family was divided. Yet, he always found solace in the single son that Ravenstar had gifted him, his little ray of sunshine, the only company he found capable of brightening his day anymore. Being a single dad, life had proved challenging: every little thing, Stormstar perceived as a threat. In fact, he pitied Fallowbird and knew that she was tiring of him and his dumb questions. He found himself constantly bombarding her with queries, panicking over the tiniest things that went on in Bumblekit's life. Hell, even if the kitten so much as sneezed...the leader came running.
Stormstar had loved his kittens unconditionally the moment that Ravenstar announced that they were expecting, and yet somehow, he had found that he loved them even more than he had thought, if that was even possible. He did his best to be a good father- Bumblekit was fed by Fallowbird, where he had plenty opportunity to socialize with kittens his age, as the queen had a litter of her own to tend to. After his feeding was done, Stormstar shamelessly took his son to the leader's den to nap. Yes, that was right- Bumblekit didn't sleep in the nursery. He got to sleep in the leader's den, with his obsessive and imperfect father.
His clan didn't seem to question him much when he showed up with his son. After all, Stormstar had done such things before, as he'd shown up with Prim on a random day and claimed that she'd be cared for as if she was one of WindClan, despite being the first outsider from beyond the Valley. It wasn't uncommon for WindClan to have relationships from outside their clan, either. They were curious by nature, so even though Stormstar did not formally name Bumblekit's mother, it was expected that she was from beyond their borders.
With morning duties complete and his beloved son well-fed by Fallowbird, Stormstar had took to his nest to have a morning nap with Bumblekit. Like an expecting bird, Stormstar had acquired a...peculiar amount of nesting material. He had lined it with the neatest trinkets he could find on his daily patrols: downy feathers, soft hare fur, shiny beetle shells, pretty dried flowers (Ravenstar's favorites, of course)...you name it. All for his son.
The protective father had his long body wrapped around the form of his son, head resting faithfully on his nimble paws. He recalled the day of Bumblekit's birth, when he had proven to be the fussier of the two little kits. The memory brought a small smile back to the smoky-furred leader, silently holding onto the dear memories of his son while he was still young. At the leader's side, a fine newleaf flower of brilliant purple hues patiently waited. "Bumblekit?" Stormstar called softly when he noticed his son's slightest stirring. "...I got something for you. I left before the dawn patrol to find it just for you."
It had reminded him of Ravenstar's eyes.

Bumblekit had been settled in their nest, curled up tightly as he slept. The little tom let out a mrrh and lifted his head, blinking his eyes sleepily as he heard his father speak. He gave a small smile when he presented the purple flower, wiggling closer to the tom's warm fur. "It looks so pretty, pa!" A purr rose from his throat. "Where did'ya find it?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
The black smoke gently kneaded Stormstar's side, purring to himself. After a few moments, he curled back up closer to his father, a satisfied mew as he found more warmth.
"Can we play outside with Mothkit and the others later?" He looked up with round eyes. "She said that Fallowbird said we could play mossball around sunhigh if it was nice outside." Bumblekit meowed.
The small kitten nuzzled Stormstar's side. He couldn't wait to play outside with his foster siblings. "I'll even try and catch you a cool beetle when we're done, pa!" He promised. NOTES; Have no template for him so he gets Daisybloom's for now

Stormstar
He moved carefully, picking his way to the nest so that he may lay beside his son with the vibrant flora in his mouth. Stormstar moved as if his son had been made of the most delicate of glass, slowly lowering himself into the nest before he let his thick smoky fur gently brush against the silvered pelt of Bumblekit. "I trekked through the heart of the territory, because not a single flower was perfect enough." The leader explained before gently rasping his tongue over Bumblekit's forehead, to fix a single tuft of hair that seemed to be out of place. His voice was warm and welcoming- already, he enjoyed parenthood so, so much. "Then I journeyed all the way to the Flower Fields, near RiverClan territory. One day, I'll show it to you...I promise."
Stormstar released a soft purr as his son nestled closer into his side like a cold bird chick, and so he continued to groom him. His scattered mind found itself wondering back to the topic of RiverClan and their recent war, and so he silently vowed that he'd do anything in his power to keep his son safe. No harm would come to him, no war would disturb his tranquil kithood. Already the secrets kept from Bumblekit were enough.
The WindClanner perked his ears at his son's sudden request. It made his heart feel heavy that he was already eager to start the day without him, carrying on kitten activities with his foster siblings. But Stormstar did his best to convince himself that some time apart was for the better- Bumblekit needed to satisfy that inner WindClan curiosity, and he needed to get to know his clanmates. He could only hope that one day, Bumblekit and Mapgiekit would foster a relationship as healthy as the one Bumblekit had with Fallowbird's litter.
Another small smile. "Of course you may, son." Stormstar had intended on assessing the queen's kits like the panicking and possessive father he was, but he did his best to hold off. He shouldn't be so judgmental and selective of his clanmates, just because Fallowbird's previous litter had been a little...mischievous with the wolves. The leader had to trust in his clan. "I'm sure Fallowbird's entire litter would love to play with you until your heart's content. She raised good kits, and so they'll continue to be good clanmates to you."
His son, wanted to give him gifts as well? Stormstar felt his chest swell with pride when his son mentioned finding him a beetle, noting that he was already taking up after some of his father's little quirks. "I-I'd really love that, Bumblekit. I would. I bet you'll be a very fine hunter when you're a warrior. WindClan will love you just as much as I love you, but not possibly more..." he trailed off as a purr overtook him. "...Because nobody could possibly love you more than I do."
Nobody but Ravenstar and Magpiekit.

Bumblekit listened intently to his father with large, rounded eyes as he spoke of his journey through their territory to find the flower. He couldn't imagine how big the flower fields were. Bumblekit couldn't even picture how large their whole territory was. Even the camp was huge! However in his defense, he had little legs. "That must be really far! Are you tired, pa?" He asked, tilting his head.
"How big are the flowers in the flower field? Are they as tall as you? Are there lots of pretty colours?" Bumblekit began to bombard his beloved father with his flurry of questions. "Does RiverClan try to steal all the flowers? Do you scare them off if they do?"
The small tom kit seemed to have asked enough questions on the topic, satisfying his desire to learn more. Maybe he'd go see Briarfish for a story later too and insist Stormstar go listen with him. Surely his pa liked listening to her stories too? Now that his mind raced with more questions, he couldn't help but ask again. "How old do you think Briarfish is? Is she as old as the mountains?"
He bounced on his paws eagerly as Stormstar approved of his playdate with his foster siblings. He couldn't wait to show them how he was getting better at their games. Being younger left him at a disadvantage. He couldn't fully appreciate their inclusion now, but he certainly would once he was older. "I could show you how good my mossball moves are if you aren't busy today, pa!" He smiled brightly.
When Stormstar started off on his tangent about how much he loved him, Bumblekit purred and nuzzed in closer to his father. "I love you lots too, papa. You're the best ever!" NOTES; MY SON

Stormstar
Bumblekit's concern for his father's physical well-being warmed his heart, earning a rumbling purr out of the long-legged leader. "I suppose my legs are a little tired, but knowing that I had a brave little warrior waiting for me back at camp...it kept me going." His words were as earnest as they could possibly get- Stormstar would do anything- imaginable or not- for the little furball that was nestled into his side. As the smoked leader glanced down at his awe-struck son, he couldn't help but wonder how much he'd come to look like Ravenstar. Already, the fragile furball had her endearing spirit and confidence, and it made Stormstar feel prouder than ever.
He hoped his son wouldn't take after himself much...in comparison to Ravenstar, Stormstar felt that she was a significantly better leader and cat. His own parents had betrayed him as a kitten.
No, no- none of those thoughts here. This was his happy place, his sanctuary, a heaven far away from heaven where such demons could never touch him. No...he'd never let such atrocious thoughts grace his son. Bumblekit would be safe...always. And he's make sure that he felt that way.
Stormstar snaked his tail away from his own side so as to wrap it around Bumblekit, and pull him closer as he mentally drifted off into the flower fields. All the color, all the peace...he would see to it that they all enjoyed the serenity of WindClan's sacred flower haven. Together- as a family, with no fear of StarClan nor the code. "Bigger." The leader promised his son, gently nuzzling his forehead with a purr that caused his narrow frame to quake. "Flowers and lush grasses so tall and vibrant that you can hardly see the sky when you look up. And yes...there's many colors- some you have to hunt for, but that makes it all the more fun and all the more unique. It makes those flowers special...so special that only special cats deserve them. That's why I was out hunting for that perfect flower for so long. I-It was made just for you." Ok...perhaps it was a bit of an exaggeration, but Stormstar wanted to feed his son's imagination, to let Bumblekit feel the bliss of childhood without knowing that the fate was entirely against him.
He tried to hold back his laugh at the Briarfish comment- he truly could, but his son's obliviousness was too perfect to resist. Stormstar stole a futive glance in the direction of his den's entrance, so as if to make sure nobody was near, so that nobody could hear. And then finally, "...oh, older than that, Bumblekit."
...Now he was just teaching his son bad habits.
Mossball...the sound of the traditional kithood game made Stormstar's heart soar, reminding him of the few peaceful days he had with his own brother, before consumption claimed his life. Admittedly...the leader was never that great at the game- he had long and awkward legs as a kit (in which he still had to this day), so the others had no problem passing the moss ball between his legs. When it came to a game of tag, however...Stormstar was champion. "I-I'd love to see that." He meant it, full-heartedly. He wanted to be there as a dad. He didn't just want to be that "Windclan leader" over there...he wanted to be a partner, Ravenstar's partner, and be the doting father that both Bumblekit and Magpiekit deserved. Stormstar wanted to attend those mossball games and cheer on his son, and pick him up whenever he was feeling down.
He just wanted to be a dad- why did StarClan think that was so wrong?
Ok, maybe Stormstar's long proclamation about how much he loved his son went way over Bumblekit's head, but all that mattered was that his son understood that he loved him- very, very much. "I'm glad you do. A-And always know that no matter what happens, no matter what you decide to do when you grow up...I'll always love you."

Bumblekit purred with joy as Stormstar spoke of his long journey. The kitten bounced up on his paws, lifting his tail proudly. "I'm gonna be the bravest, strongest, fastest warrior in all of WindClan!" He puffed out his chest proudly. "And then when you get old like Briarfish, I'll go get you pretty flowers from the flower fields. And I'll fight all the smelly RiverClan cats so they don't steal our flowers!"
Life was so simple for the small cat. As Stormstar described the flower fields for him, the little tomkit could imagine the scenery from his father's words. "Someday I'll be taller than the grass, right?" He asked. His attention was turned back to the flower as Stormstar spoke of it again. "Really? Just for me?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.
Bumblekit hummed to himself. "I wanna be a warrior with Brookkit, Mothkit, Creekkit, Brackenkit, and Kestrelkit. And we're gonna be the coolest, strongest, bravest WindClan warriors ever! We'll scare away the wolves with Mossleap, and Eveningdove, and...and everyone else in WindClan! Right pa?" NOTES; n/a

Stormstar
His son's innate loathing towards RiverClan was amusing but equally terrifying for the leader. He didn't want Bumblekit to grow up in a state of war, to have a life where he had to fear for whether or not they'd have enough prey for leafbare. Maybe it was impossible to change the world for him, to make it a better place...but Stormstar would sure as hell try. For Bumblekit, for little Magpiekit, and for Ravenstar. "You'll be all that and more, Bumblekit. I know it- you already are." The black smoke feline purred, slowly relaxing onto his side as his son began to merrily bounce around.
"...B-But you must remember, son...there is not always glory in war. Today RiverClan may be our enemies, but tomorrow...they might be our allies." It was probably too great of a lesson for now, something that would surely fly over his son's head. But he wanted to raise him right. He wanted to make all of WindClan proud of Bumblekit, just as proud as he was. "...Even if they smell like fish." He commented with a soft smile.
"I'm sure you will be, son. So tall that even the trees feel small in your might." That, too, was definitely an exaggeration, but there was no harm in letting his son's imagination run wild. Stormstar merely wanted him to be both safe and happy. "...Maybe even taller than your old man, too." His eyes returned to the flower that he had hand-selected for Bumblekit. "It's all yours."
He was grateful that Fallowbird had willingly taken his son in, despite her own dramas with her mate. And he was grateful that the litter was so willing to accept Bumblekit as one of their own, playing with him and keeping him company when duties prevented Stormstar from doing so. Yet, his heart still sank. Bumblekit did not know of his brother. And while Bumblekit was fortunate enough to have nursery friends, what about Magpiekit? Did DarkClan have any kits for him to play with?
He tried to remain optimistic, focusing on Bumblekit and the happiness he was given. "Absolutely. In fact- I think I overheard the wolves catching wind of your presence...I heard they might be on the run already." As he spoke, the leader had rolled back onto his belly, slowly pressing himself against the stone that lined his den floor. "...after all, who hasn't heard of the mighty Bumblestar?"

The kitten listened as Stormstar warned of the consequences of war. It wasn't something the tom could fully process through his tiny little head, but he nodded along, pretending that he did. His paws kneaded the ground as he remembered something he wanted to show his beloved father.
"But you're so tall! How could I be taller?" He tilted his head to the side. "And what's a tree?" He asked. Having never left the safety of WindClan's camp, Bumblekit had yet to see the line of trees on the horizon to the south, only knowing the distant reach of the mountain chain that sheltered the Valley from the outside world.
Bumblekit eagerly took the flower and looked for a special spot for it in their nest. He decided to place it close to where he rested his head at night so he could look at it before bed. Satisfied with it's new home, the smoke kitten turned and ran back to Stormstar.
"If those wolves even think about coming back, I'll show them my true power!" He purred, standing on his hind legs as he reached his front paws up into the air, extending his tiny claws as he swipped at seemingly nothing--but to him, he could see the figure of what he imagined the wolves looked like, fighting them in his imagination. "The mighty Bumblestar will protect WindClan and scare away all the stinky wolves!" He bounced around, air-fighting the figments of his imagination.
"Oh, right! Pa, I wanna show you something!" Bumblekit bounced back to the older tom. "The other kits were practicing their elements in the nursery and I wanted to try, so I was watching them, right?"
"Brackenkit and Mothkit can make the ground look like the sky and it slippery, so I tried that but it didn't work. Brookkit and Creekkit were making puddles for them, and I couldn't do that either. But Kestrelkit was making the feathers in Fallowbird's nest dance, so I wanted to try that too!" He wriggled his hindquarters.
Bumblekit looked around for something to try his new trick with, settling on some of the feathers that Stormstar had used to make his ultra comfy nest. He stared at the nest for a few moments. How did I do it again? Hmm... He squinted his eyes, then purred as he remembered. Right, like this!! Bumblekit focused on the feeling he'd felt the first time he successfully pushed something.
With a deep breath, Bumblekit channeled a small breeze, just barely displacing the feathers in the nest. Such a small gust of air, but such a significant achievement for the kitten. He turned back to his father with a bright, proud smile. "Did you see that, Pa?" NOTES; n/a

Stormstar
If only he could keep him tiny forever, so Bumblekit would never be threatened by ThunderClan, or StarClan, or the wolves...so his innocence would be whole for all of eternity. So his days would be nothing but happiness, peace, sunshine, rainbows, imagination...he never wanted Bumblekit to face the brunt of war, of the cruelness of StarClan and their wicked, cryptic rules that secretly forbid cats from finding their happiness.
If it wasn't for them, he and Ravenstar wouldn't be in the situation that they were in. And if it wasn't for Lynxstar and ThunderClan...
No- Stormstar had to focus on the bliss in the moment, cherish these times with Bumblekit for as long as he could. Life would always have its bumps in the road. "Well, tall cats gotta get taller somehow, right? If we didn't get taller than our moms or dads, then we might all be the same height." Stormstar tried to make sense of it- really, he didn't know how it worked. But it wasn't like Bumblekit knew the answer, either. Nobody did, likely. "...Besides, your mom...she was tall, too. Very strong as well...so strong that she made Lynxstar and ThunderClan seem like ants." The smoked tom purred at the thought, recalling the powerful aura that seemed to constantly surround Ravenstar, save for their peaceful moments together. "Trees are huge plants- so tall, that you can climb them! WindClan doesn't have many...but trees block the skies, and they make it harder for flowers and grass to grow."
The night he spent with her in DarkClan...how he missed it. He could still recall the sweet scent of DarkClan's few flowers, the muckiness of their mud, how brightly the stars seemed to shine that night...as if, for once, StarClan had been watching over them in their favor.
Stormstar had been lost in thought as his son flipped around and attacked imaginary creatures, his mind drifting off to Ravenstar and their moments together. He had cost her so much, hadn't he? Two lives, just to make him happy...it made him feel awful. How many did she have left? How many moments would they get to spend together? When could he give back so that he could give her anything and everything that she deserved? If only he could donate some of his lives to her...
But every struggle was worth it. Bumblekit was worth it, and more.
The WindClan leader snapped himself back to reality, perking his ears and curiously wrapping his tail around his form as Bumblekit spoke about his element. He couldn't help but wonder if there were any remnants of his mother's dark element, and if for a moment, Bumblekit's air element might be any different...
Stormstar straightened and leaned forward as his son strained, memories of Shadedpaw and his consumption returning to haunt the father. C'mon little buddy... The leader thought to himself, feeling his belly tighten as Bumblekit struggled to summon an inkling of wind. I believe in you...and I always will. His green eyes flashed with warmth as the feathers just barely moved in the nest, and he promptly rushed to his son to nuzzle his skull against his.
"Look at you, Bumblekit!! You'll be one of WindClan's greatest air elements before we know it..." Stormstar purred, his proud dad grin from ear to ear as he rubbed his head against his son's. Briefly, the tall leader stepped back to glimpse down at the little ball of fur, his purr continuing to rumble in his throat. "...How 'bout your old dad shows you a few tricks? Some of Fallowbird's kits might have different elements, but...don't tell Fallowbird, but air is still the best."
