The sun was beginning to set when the kitten sent out an adventure in camp, intent on catching a particularly pretty beetle with an iridescent shell over its wings. It was a difficult battle for Magpiekit, but in the end, he was triumphant: he had wrestled the creature to the ground and finally managed to stun it when he set out to find his "father", Crowthroat. He wanted to show off his impressive catch to the big tom who acted as the temporary authority in camp while Ravenstar nursed her son. However, the little smoke tomkit had difficulty locating the tom, and when he returned to the site of his "kill", he had discovered that the beetle had awakened and flown off. Bollocks. The kitten was young and had tired himself from searching for Crowthroat and also struggling to catch the hardened beetle. So, he had temporary settled underneath a fern while the sun began to set, warming his coal-and-smoke fur until he was lulled into a short slumber, dreaming of more insect hunting. Magpiekit knew little of his clan thus far- he hadn't seen many of the warriors given that he'd only recently ventured out of the nursery with permission of both Crowthroat and his mother. Albeit naturally inquisitive, he was undoubtedly shy towards the strangers of his clan, and they too seemed to avoid him while observing the kitten from a distance. Perhaps it was because of the curious little gusts of winds he'd managed to make in order to stir the leaves while searching for insects to hunt, a curse that would indefinitely damn him from living in the clan with his mother... But there was more to Magpiekit than what met the eye, more than simply failing to inherit his mother's dark element. He actually feared the one thing he was meant to become. When the little smoke furball stirred, he found the world around him cloaked in darkness. Night had settled in, and it was the eve of the new moon when the sky was dark and unwelcoming, save for the few stars that mottled the endless heavens. At once the sleepiness evaded Magpiekit, causing the kit to rise in a start as he was surrounded in the shadows of night, without a moon to smile down upon them. He could feel the darkness closing in, suffocating him in fear. What lurked out there? What hid in the shadows- monsters? Dark forest baddies? Someone who wanted to hurt him? DarkClan found solace and power in the night. Magpiekit, he only found fear. The kitten found himself beginning to quake from fear, and as he tried to back into what might be safety, he felt the tendrils of the fern brush against his back. Magpiekit leaped forward into the darkness of camp with a petrified yelp before pressing himself into the earth, unable to see what rested around him. What was it that had tried to touch him- an eagle? An adder hoping to poison him and eat him whole, while he was still kicking?! Magpiekit only made his own sense of anxiety worsen as negative, fearful thoughts plagued his little mind. He couldn't find his ma or big Crowthroat to protect him- he was all alone in the scary darkness, with potential monsters just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Magpiekit couldn't hold back his whimpers anymore. "Mama!" He wished the darkness would just go away, prayed that the sun would suddenly rise so he'd be safe and could see good again. But instead he was all alone, drowning in the shadows of the night that was cherished by his clan, but feared by the misfit of a kitten that did not belong. "Mama, I'm scared!"

[attr="class","grbg"] [attr="class","grbox"] [attr="class","grstuff"] * Cold but I'm not deadCarry all these fears on wings of lead. Coursed between the cracks, burn my bones to ivory black [attr="class","grtext"]The calico molly had been resting in the Warriors' den, sleeping through the day to prepare for a hunting trip in the evening. She was finally getting the hang of blocking out the sunlight during the day as she tried to sleep, allowing Daisybloom to get a night of better sleep than during her awkward transition as an apprentice. As the air started to cool once the sun had set, Daisybloom stretched out a foreleg, a murr rumbling in her throat. She slowly rose to her paws, her jaw parting in a yawn as she blinked the sleep away from her eyes. I should probably head out soon, the prey won't stay in one place forever. She thought to herself, carefully navigating out of the den in hopes to not step on a sleeping cat's tail. The day patrollers had put in a lot of work, she didn't want to rip what little sleep they got away by waking them up on accident. Once she left the den, a cry caught her attention. Daisybloom looked around, picking out the small, dark figure of little Magpiekit thanks to the superior night vision her element had granted her. The young warrior quickly made her way over to the frightened kitten, crouching next to him and offering a gentle smile. "H-Hey, it's okay...n-nothing's gonna hurt y-you." She meowed softly. Daisybloom moved her tail away from her side, offering the kitten a place to hide with her if he wished. "Y-You're Magpiekit, right?" Daisybloom asked him. "I'm Daisybloom. W-Would you like me to help y-you find your mama? Sh-She shouldn't be too far."20mia08[newclass=.grbg]width:330px;background-image:url('http://i.imgur.com/Jg7XpBl.png');border:20px solid #fff;padding:30px;[/newclass] [newclass=.grbox]with:300px;background-image:url('http://i.imgur.com/b1bFJz0.png');border:15px solid #fff;[/newclass] [newclass=.grstuff]width:260px;padding:0px;background-color:#fff;[/newclass] [newclass=.grtext]width:240px;height:230px;padding:5px;background-color:#fff;color:#b7b7b7;font:11px calibri;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;[/newclass] [newclass=.grtext::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;background:white[/newclass] [newclass=.grtext::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-image:url('http://i.imgur.com/Jg7XpBl.png')[/newclass]

Magpiekit could hear his shrill kit-voice echo across what felt like a devoid of darkness. As he cowered against the earth with his muzzle pressed between his two miniscule paws, he perked his ears against the shadows, only to feel downcast when nothing returned his call. What if... ...what if the shadows ate his mama, too? The collection of coal-black furs along his spine had bristled out of fear, quivering with his body that shook like a leaf in the wind as he began to fearfully ponder his fate in the night. The misfit was certain that he wouldn't last- something was bound to come along and eat him whole, or swoop him up into the air and carry him off to be birdfood, or strangle him until his eyes bulged, or- Magpiekit's tiny ears, still tuned into his surroundings out of panic, caught the sound of movement heading in his direction. The little kitten instinctually squeezed his still-kitten-blue eyes shut, preparing for his ultimate doom by whatever gruesome means. "Mama!" The lost smoke feline cried out once more like a helpless robin chick, positive that his death would be almost instantaneous due to the speed of whatever was coming at him. He refused to open his eyes and see death. But it was only a voice that spoke, seemingly as nervous as his own, one that sounded familiar among the calming buzz of clan background noise emitted from outside the nursery. He skittishly opened his dilated eyes, only to continue to struggle to visualize what rested around him in the dusky DarkClan camp. "I- I-...c-can't...f-f...m-my-my...m-momma!" Mapgiekit managed between sobs that made his entire body rock from the effort. He tired so hard to find her in the shadows, but her fur...it was so dark- dark like everything else, dark like the coats of most other DarkClanners. When he squinted hard enough, he could just barely make out the form of the warrior that loomed before him, and instantly he darted to her side and burrowed into her fur like some hopeless tick. "Y-yes, I-I'm...Mag...I-I just want my momma!" Despite forcing himself to the side of the poor passing Daisybloom, Magpiekit continued to shake from the fear that overwhelmed him. Why did the dark have to be so scary? Why did it have to take his momma away every night? Thorne
