The sunlight filtering into the Nursery woke the queen, slowly blinking her eyes open. She rose to her paws, peering out of the nursery to check the time. It was around dawn, the perfect time for the ceremony. Ravenstar returned to her nest and gave Magpiekit a gentle nuzzle. "I'll be right back." She purred softly.
Ravenstar padded out of the Nursery and into camp, grooming her pelt quickly. She then lept up onto the Perching Rock and cleared her throat.
"Let all cats old enough to control the darkness gather around the Perching Rock for a Clan Meeting!"
Once most of the Clan had gathered, Ravenstar nodded to herself. Halfkit's apprentice ceremony meant the day she'd have to give up Magpiekit was drawing near. She hated the thought of time going so fast. She didn't want to lose her son.
Pushing the thoughts away, she continued on with the ceremony.
"Halfkit, from this day forward until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Halfpaw. Crowthroat, you have trained Daisybloom well in our ways and you are ready to take on another apprentice. You will be the mentor to Halfkit." She dipped her head to the black-and-white tom.
"Clan dismissed!"
