She had heard the whispering at the gatherings prior, of young apprentices spreading rumors of the apprentice get-together that had occurred at Five Stones some time before. Having to be the oldest apprentice in all of the Valley's, Lynxstar's chosen successor had been to that meeting before. The event as an accident, more or less- complete coincidence that they all gathered near Five Stones that evening. It had been an interesting meeting, although initially fueled by irritation. Newtpaw had merely been out for a stroll, only to discover that Acornpaw and then later Fogpaw had followed in her stead. Granted, it all ended up being ok. It was interesting to see apprentices from other clans, knowing that she'd see them again some day. When they were warriors... ...and when she was ThunderClan's leader. It was good to know thy enemy. Was it wrong to arrange another apprentice together at the sacred Five Stones? Lynxstar didn't appreciate mingling with outsiders, but surely he'd understand if it was for informative purposes. She'd grow up with these cats, perhaps face them some day in battle, or even work to form an alliance with them. It was risky, being ThunderClan's future and partaking in such childish apprentice games. But the benefits seemed to outweigh the dangers. Plus, being that she was a popular feline and relatively social, she didn't mind having some fun. For now, there was a stagnant peace that lingered in the air between the clans. Peace...if it could be called that. It was more of a standstill, really. So, Newtpaw put the rumors to rest by bringing them to reality. In the light of the moon that was no longer full, the apprentices would have their fun. They would mingle and interact, play their games and tell their stories at Five Stones as if they had a gathering of their very own. The chocolate mottled molly had been the first to arrive, given that she arranged it all in secrecy during the previous gathering. She hoped it would go as smoothly as the last apprentice meeting- Newtpaw had no interest in breaking up squabbles today. Her blue eyes darted to the corners of all the land, awaiting the apprentices to join her for an evening of their very own. Adolescents went wild over the concept of no rules. As the oldest, she'd have to keep them all in line. No rules, no duties, and no warriors. What could possibly go wrong during the evening of fun for apprentices from all walks of life?

MAPLEPAW Maplepaw hopped into the area from a tree, landing straight on her paws. She flicked her tail, strutting up to Newtpaw and pushing herself against him. "So, when's this show 'startin Newt?" Maplepaw then questioned in a tone that sounded like she was high on catmint. She probably wasn't, but it still sounded like she was.
Maplepaw chuckled before she eventually got off of Newtpaw as she didn't want to make the leader's apprentice angry. Not waiting for the other apprentice to respond to her stupid question, she laughed and spoke again. "When do you think everyone else will arrive, Newt Newt? I can't wait to see the others." Maplepaw exclaimed with a laugh before sitting down and actually waiting for a reply.

- I'm nothing but a day in the life -
Rumors of an apprentice-only gathering were far too juicy to ignore. Finchpaw had snuck out under the cover of shadows, manipulating a cloak of darkness to help him slip past any patrols. He couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet new folks! Or an opportunity to ignore any rules put in place by his mentor and Ravenstar.
He carefully crossed the stepping stones to the island, remembering the path from the previous moon's gathering. Finchpaw just hoped that the rumors weren't false, or else this trip would have been for naught. Maybe he'd go out and explore the ravine a little more if this turned out to be a hoax.
Finchpaw made out two familiar coats and flicked his tail. Great, the ThunderClan princesses are here. He thought. Lynxstar's heiress and his daughter were the first to arrive. Of all cats, why did it have to be them?
Still, he forced a smile, noting that Maplepaw had once been his denmate in the nursery. Not that he could recall a time where they'd gotten to play together. StarClan forbid he spread his 'corruption' to the leader's precious kittens.
"I didn't expect this to actually happen. Nevertheless, I'm always down for a little rule breaking." He meowed. "Good evening, Newtpaw, Maplepaw." word count, notes, n stuff

Furzepaw had been searching for an escape from her...unpleasant training with Reedtail. Each passing day was more draining than the last. She swore she saw dark tendrils grabbing at her paws yesterday, burning her skin for a brief moment. Reedtail told her it was all in her head.
Rumors of an apprentice gathering echoed at the previous full-moon, Furzepaw couldn't resist the idea of getting to play with others her age. She just had to pray her mentor didn't discover her outing. Furzepaw had plans to not stay too long, knowing that she'd suffer the consequences of the lack of sleep in the morning.
She swam across the water, shaking out her pelt once she reached Five Stones. Three apprentices were already among the stones. Thank StarClan it wasn't a lie.
Furzepaw approached the group meekly.
"Hi." She dipped her head.

StarClan, she had held the event for a (hopefully) enjoyable evening- not to be the babysitter of her mentor's first litter. Because she had been forced to spend so long in the apprentice's den, she'd begun to slowly tire of the youthful energy of new apprentices. While she certainly had a flamboyant streak, Newtpaw was admittedly mature for her age, even when she started her training. It allowed her to focus her mind on her training and see to it that ThunderClan prospered, rather than having her attention stolen away by exciting little details. The solemn feline attempted to keep her composure, having to bite her tongue to prevent herself from snapping at Maplepaw's outbursts of excitement. If this was what it was like to be a queen...she never wanted that. "They'll get here when they get here." That was fine enough. Newtpaw neatly wrapped her tail around her paws, her cerulean eyes resting firmly on the horizon as she maintained her professional posture. Even in a time of fun, she never skipped a beat when it came to formality. However, when a DarkClan cat was the first to show, the leader apprentice's gaze hardened. She had expected them to show, but she'd been silently praying they'd decide against it. "Evening." She replied tersely, summoning every ounce of strength within her body to prevent herself from snapping at the tom from the enemy land. Your kind is plenty familiar with bending rules, isn't it? They weren't to be trusted. Even if this was a mere apprentice, DarkClan was still a clan of snakes. The mottled molly allowed herself to relax at the sight of a RiverClanner approaching the gathering area. Ah yes- more sensible company. Even if they found enjoyment in actually enveloping their bodies in freezing water. "Greetings, Furzepaw." Newtpaw directed her attention to the submissive RiverClanner, having recognized the she at a few Gatherings prior. She was apprenticed to that awfully bitter bloke, wasn't she? Sierra Jinx fern

A secret gathering of apprentices? Mischief was something than ran in the blood for Mothpaw's family. She could recall the scolding Mossleap had received when she finally came home from ThunderClan after getting into trouble with the wolves. Surely she was destined to stick her nose into trouble at some point too?
She bounced eagerly through WindClan territory until she reached the shore. Mothpaw used her element to create an icy patch to allow her to cross the river, then approached the group of apprentices. She recognized ThunderClan and RiverClan scent, having shared a border with the two, however the third was unfamiliar.
"Good evening," She dipped her head. "I'm Mothpaw, of WindClan. You folks are...?" She introduced herself. As she waited for their responses, the dilute calico sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws. NOTES ; n/a

MAPLEPAW Maplepaw ran over to Finchpaw who she assumed was a DarkClan cat just like her friend and grinned. "Heyyy there! You're a DarkClan cat, right? I have a friend named Charcoalpaw I've meeting secretly who just happens to be from your clan." Maplepaw said with a chuckle. She liked to meet new cats from other clans, but usually never got the chance to.
She then continued her statement. "Your elements are like, so cool. I know Briarsong said you guys are corrupted and all that nonsense, but ehhhh. I've heard that stupid story countless times." Maplepaw said before going over to Mothpaw. "Hey there! I'm Maplepaw. Nice to meet cha Mothpaw."

Boulderpaw was next to arrive to Five Stones, helping herself to the stepping stones she assumed either Newtpaw or Maplepaw had made - she didn’t quite care who. She’d been itching to get out of camp and with the actual gathering a moon away, what better time to mingle than a secret meeting? This had to have been Newtpaw’s best idea yet, Boulderpaw would definitely be sure to take credit for it when they got home. She waltzes onto the island with her head held high, eyes dancing across each cat present with growing curiosity. Obviously she recognized Newtpaw and Maplepaw - she wasn’t blind, anyone could spot them from a fox length away - and she recognized WindClan scent easily. Mothpaw, she heard the she cat introduce herself as. She would be sure to check her out later. The other two she didn’t quite recognize as well but she could use context clues. Softtail had told her that most RiverClan cats were built for swimming, and the molly certainly looked like she belonged in the water. The tom though... she didn’t smell ShadowClan just yet, but she was certain that they would start arriving soon. That only left one other clan. She steps closer to the group proudly and settles herself down. ”Let the poor cat breath, Maple,” she chides. 20mia08, fern, Thorne Sierra

Furzepaw dipped her head as Newtpaw returned her greeting. The Leader Apprentice of ThunderClan knew her name? StarClan, things were shaping up to be better than home already! She turned her attention to the dilute calico apprentice, whom had made quite the entrance in Furzepaw's eyes.
She'd introduced herself as Mothpaw of WindClan. The name was familiar...though she couldn't quite place where she'd heard it. Perhaps Clan gossip? "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mothpaw. I'm Furzepaw, from RiverClan." She smiled.
The two Clans had their differences lately. Furzepaw just hoped there wouldn't be another fight over the borders anytime soon.
She watched as Maplepaw introduced herself to the DarkClan apprentice whom she was somewhat familiar with, then to Mothpaw. Where had she seen the brown tabby before...?
Oh, right. Ravenstar's assault on the Splash Cove. He'd fought Badgerpaw if she wasn't mistaken. She dipped her head to him respectfully, hoping that there had been no hard feelings over their border defense.
A sixth apprentice joined the fray, and judging by their scent, they also hailed from ThunderClan. She meekly dipped her head in greeting.

BLUEBELLPAW Bluebellpaw slid in, happiness in her voice. "I'm here!!" She exclaimed happily before seeing Finchpaw and immediately running over to him. "Brother, I missed you! Guess what I did?!" The she-cat asked Finchpaw before responding to her own self. She was happy to see Finchpaw again. Very happy indeed. "I said to Lynxstar under my breath once; 'what a foxbrain you are'." Bluebellpaw said with a excited laugh.
She then pressed herself up against her brother. "Oleanderpaw's had a lot of regret for not being around you, though. Fortunately for me, I was around you whenever I could be around you! Hehe~" She chuckled before sighing. "I missed you so much bro."

The DarkClan apprentice's sudden wave of popularity brought a sickening sense of disgust to Newtpaw, but the mature feline remained composed and pretended to ignore the scene. Lynxstar will be overjoyed to have a gaggle of DarkClan sympathizers. The stocky apprentice thought to herself, diverting her attention to the WindClanner and RiverClanner to avoid creating a nasty scene. How quickly the loyalty of Lynxstar's daughters wavered was disappointing. The chocolate tortoiseshell point abruptly perked her ears when her icy visionaries temporarily settled on the Windclan apprentice. Wait a moment- that cat seemed familiar. Something about her patterns and the shape of her head, it was like Newtpaw had seen them somewhere before... "Mothpaw, was it?" Newtpaw had finally risen from her position, slowly jogging closer to the WindClanner and RiverClanner with her tail streaming behind her. Now that she was closer, she certainly recognized Mothpaw from somewhere. Or rather, she was awfully similar to a pair of cats she'd seen before, a duo of WindClanners that had to temporarily take shelter in ThunderClan's camp. "Are you related to Eveningdove and Mossleap?" Admittedly, she assumed that most of WindClan was related. They were notorious for having big families and being relatively close- surely those two warriors were at least cousins of this apprentice. Sierra Jinx Blaze Thorne fern

- I'm nothing but a day in the life -
Finchpaw dipped his head in response to Furzepaw, then turned his attention to Newtpaw. Didn't even bother to remember a former Clanmate's name. Tsk. He thought bitterly. I'll make her remember someday.
A new arrival pulled him from his thoughts. He looked over to Mothpaw and offered her a smile. "Hey, I'm Finchpaw." He nodded.
Just as quickly as he finished his sentence, Maplepaw interrupted his breath with her bombardment of speech. She was meeting with Charcoalpaw? Interesting...and the heiress was okay with this development? "Er...right, Charcoalpaw's a decent cat." He nodded. Finchpaw shuffled his paws awkwardly at the mention of Briarsong. All of ThunderClan's leadership could shove it.
He let out a sigh of relief as the she-cat's attention was pulled away from him and onto poor Mothpaw. He glanced over at the calico, flattening his ears and gave her an awkward look of apology.
As the tom was enjoying simply listening to the discussions, a familiar voice caused his ears to perk up. "Bluebellpaw!" He smiled. Finchpaw listened as she spoke, nodding in agreement. "Lynxstar can eat a load of foxdung for all I care. Resentful prick." He scoffed. The tom nodded as she spoke of their brother. "I don't hold any resentment towards Oleanderpaw, whether he chooses to come tonight or not. Mother didn't really give him the chance to try." He flicked his ear. "But yes, I missed you as well." He smiled.
He looked over as the heiress began to speak to Mothpaw. That's where the strange sense of familiarity came from! "Oh, I remember those two! They were with us during the Great Fire, right? Eveningpaw--Eveningdove, sorry, told me a story from WindClan after to try and calm me down." He nodded. "You must have a loving family." Finchpaw meowed.
He couldn't lie and say he wasn't envious. If his parents might have shown some love...maybe he wouldn't have left home...
But that was all in the past now. DarkClan was already more of a family than ThunderClan ever was. His mentor and Clanmates had already shown it. Besides, if he still lived in ThunderClan, he'd still have to put up with the not-so-silent resentment from the others. word count, notes, n stuff

As the other apprentices mingle and chat, Emberpaw steps onto the island with a watchful gait. For a cat his age, he wasn't one to mingle freely - that was more Sootpaw's speed. No, he preferred to watch and listen. He wasn't shy by any means, make no mistake, he just... observed from a distance. Away from all those pompous cats. He knew for a fact he'd be spotted sooner or later - his pelt was one of the brighter ones, after all - so he approaches in a jog, stopping to see if Sootpaw had decided to tag along. He twitches an ear absentmindedly, rolling his eyes at the oldest apprentice; Newtpaw, if he remembered right. He'd always thought she was too proud for such "childish nonsense" - maybe another apprentice had dragged her into it? Nonetheless, he makes himself comfortable nearby, watching the hyperactive apprentices converse with each other. Thorne fern Jinx Sierra 20mia08

Mothpaw dipped her head in greeting in return to Furzepaw's introduction. Things seemed to have all but settled along the RiverClan border for now, the molly was thankful that the possibility of fighting a new potential friend was slim-to-none. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Furzepaw." She smiled. "Good hunting in the marsh, I hope?" She asked. Historically, most of their feuds with RiverClan was over Hare Plains, a ripe hunting ground important to WindClan. Considering they hadn't made a play for it in some time, one could only assume the fish were plentiful in the rivers.
She nodded as Newtpaw spoke, flattenikng her ears in embarrasment. "Ah, yeah, they're my older sisters." Mothpaw meowed. "I do hope Mossleap didn't cause you too much trouble when she was in ThunderClan. I can still remember hearing Fallowbird scold her." She purred. "It felt like she was stuck cleaning the nursery and elders' den for moons." The calico murred.
The apprentice turned her head to Finchpaw as he chimed in. A ThunderClan runaway, then. She concluded. Finchpaw must be around her age if Eveningdove had been telling stories to comfort him after the fire. "It's a shame what happened, really. I'm glad my sister was able to do her part in helping ThunderClan recover, albeit a small role." She nodded to the tom. "It does get a little chaotic at time, to be honest. With so many of us, it was quite the struggle to get our mother's individual attention in the nursery." She meowed. "I remember slipping and falling on my own ice trying to impress her once." She chuckled.
"But there is plenty of love to go around for us all. I'm thankful to have all of my siblings." Mothpaw concluded. "I do hope you are able to maintain a good relationship with your siblings, even if they are across the valley." NOTES ; n/a

Furzepaw gave Mothpaw a gentle smile as the apprentice spoke to her. She shuffled her paws for a heartbeat. "Ah, yes, the fish have been spawning in good numbers this moon." She replied
"I hope things are settling with those wolves you've been battling lately." Furzepaw wrapped her tail around her paws. "Losing Clanmates is hard. I pray everything is okay."
Furzepaw turned her head to look at Finchpaw for a few moments, building up the courage to speak to the tom. "How is it in DarkClan...?" She asked. The calico kneaded the ground momentarily, then continued her question. "Is...is it worth leaving home?"
