Crowthroat had been fussing for the past few days as the molly complained that she'd been feeling ill occasionally throughout the day. She knew she was fine, but she mainly came just to shut him up. His concern was appreciated, though. Her Clanmate's loyalty was important after all.[break][break] The dark molly cleared her throat and looked over at Spiderface. "Good afternoon, Spiderface." She said, flicking her tail in greeting. She sat down and licked her paw, brushing it behind her ear. "Crowthroat insisted I come in for a check-up. I've been feeling a little under the weather for a few days, just some sporadic minor nausea is all. If you can confirm that I am fine and put his mind at ease, I'd appreciate it very much so." He looks up from his sorting, flicking his tail as he pads over. Things had finally began to calm down somewhat and he had been thankful for the silence.
Little did he know.
"Under the weather, you say? Be glad he sent you my way, then, so I can diagnose it easier," he says. He begins gently prodding around her, going quiet as he began to work. "You mentioned that you've been minorly nauseous? Have you changed your diet recently?"

He flicked an ear as he listened, circling around her a few times to be sure. There was something off about her, though he couln't quite place his paw on it. "You seem healthy, otherwise..." he murmured, mostly to himself. "Any changes to your day otherwise? Anything of note?"
Ravenstar had been sneaking off a few times recently, it might be her late night solo hunting catching up with her. He sat down before her, draping his tail on the ground behind him. 'All she needed to do was rest,' he thought wryly, looking her over once more. 'I keep telling her to sit and let the warriors do their job, but does she listen?'

Ravenstar shook her head as Spiderface spoke. “Mm mn. No notable changes to my routine that I can think of. I always check in with the night hunting patrols, so they can confirm that I’m not overworking myself, if you need someone else’s word for it.” She flicked an ear.
The dark molly licked a paw and ran it behind her ear, then shook her head quickly. “Is there anything else, or can I go now? I’ve got a border patrol coming back from the river soon, I want to make sure RiverClan’s been staying on their side now that the water is thawing.” She yawned.

”The border patrol can wait just as you can,” he responded smoothly. Nausea for the past few days, no changes to routine or diet... His eyes widened as a thought struck him. It’d be the perfect time for those but he had to be completely sure first, lest she claw him for even suggesting it. He stood, tail swishing around as he spoke.
”I think I may have an idea of what might be wrong, but I need you to lay down so I can be sure,” he said. ”I’ll be done momentarily.”

Ravenstar rolled her eyes. "Knowing how hungry RiverClan's been lately, I doubt the border patrol can wait." She grumbled. The dark molly flicked her tail as he appeared to be thinking to himself, then sighed and nodded as he requested her to lay down. "Alright." She meowed, laying down.
She parted her jaws with a yawn as Spiderface worked, glancing around the den.

He immediately approached, gently laying a paw onto her stomach as he focused. He could definitely feel something there, but he couldn’t say for sure just yet. It took a moment to remember how to detect things like this from his apprentice moons, how long ago they seemed now, but soon lights began to dance around behind his eyelids.
And immediately his blood ran ice cold.
He went quiet for a few long moments before he spoke. ”Ravenstar,” he began, his voice grim. ” I am going to ask you a few questions and I need for you to be completely honest with me, alright?”
”Now... have you been spending much time with Crowthroat for any particular reason lately?”

Ravenstar lifted her ears when he said her name, then turned her attention back to him.
She didn't like his tone.
"Alright, ask away." She nodded.

And it hit. Her heart dropped as she realized what he suspected. And knowing Spiderface, his guess wasn't likely to be wrong. Ravenstar bit her tongue as she had to piece together a string of event, a timeline, something believable to cover everything up.
"Yes, Crowthroat and I often spend time together." She nodded.

The molly felt her heart drop when Spiderface confirmed her suspicion.
"I see." She said bluntly. She had to speak to Crowthroat about this entire situation. She had to speak to Stormstar.
Was she even able to tell him? Did she have the heart to tell him? What would they even do?
His expression still didn't look good. "What's the bad news?" She asked.

Ravenstar's heart shattered. They...they couldn't be... The molly looked up at Spiderface desperately. "Please tell me you're lying...I can't..." She flattened her ears. Not once in the moons DarkClan had been around had they ever birthed a litter of kits that didn't carry the dark element. For her to be the first, especially knowing the taboo circumstances that would lead to their conception...
"Spiderface, this has to be some sort of mistake." She shook her head.
