This is the official thread for Reedtail vs Stormstar. Only the respective roleplayers can reply to this thread. RiverClan is starving. Reedtail starts with 90hp instead of 100. This is an unequal skill battle. Stormstar's basic attacks can do up to 10 damage instead of the regular 15. Once the characters have begun to fight, it will be a turn based system. Ex. Lynxstar attacks -> Attack will be rolled -> Ravenstar attacks -> Attack will be rolled. Please avoid posting before the attack has been rolled. He had found it difficult to call upon sleep the night before, with that constant anxiety nipping at his belly and stirring his thoughts. This would be his first battle as leader, and even though he reminded himself that RiverClan was at a disadvantage, he couldn't help but to feel incredibly nervous. What if he let WindClan down? What if he failed them and they lost this war? Would the loss of territory, coupled with a wolf infestation, drive WindClan to extinction?
They should ask DarkClan for aid.
No- this was their own battle.
Regardless, Stormstar wouldn't take it laying down. Even if he feared for the future, he refused to permit RiverClan to steal their territory and increase their own risk of starvation. He would have greatly preferred a diplomatic approach, but it would appear that the peaceful method was off the table. Should Bumblepelt have asked, Stormstar would have been willing to discuss an alternative, perhaps a sort of aid or outreach. If peace was kept, WindClan would send some prey in RiverClan's direction until their own stock rebounded. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be better than nothing.
No point in thinking it over anymore, anyways. It seemed that RiverClan had decided- and Stormstar would show them mercy no more. He would defend his homeland honorably alongside his lean-built warriors, even if it meant giving up one of his lives. He would do anything for them, and he could only pray that they understood that. Leader or not, they were his family.
He was concerned for the safety of Prim as well. Stormstar was yet to disclose her consumed status to the other clans, and he absolutely intended on keeping her identity a secret, should ThunderClan decide to turn on WindClan. He had failed his brother so many moons ago, and he refused to fail her as well. He hoped that she'd stay hidden and safe from harm's way- only StarClan knew what RiverClan might attempt to do to her.
As the smoke leader slowly approached Hare Plains with his patrol, he allowed his head to angle upwards and his eyes to rest on the creamy dawn sky as he prepared a silent, mental prayer. If I don't make it out of here, StarClan, please keep my clan safe. As for Ravenstar... He paused in his thoughts as his stomach tied itself into knots. It always did that when he thought of her, and his paws...like he was walking in the clouds. Keep her safe, and let her know that I love her with all of my being, even if it may be so wrong for me to do so. Nobody can deny me these feelings...not even you. Drawing in his breath, Stormstar lowered his gaze from the heavens above and focused on what lay before him.
He was ready, or at least as ready as he'd ever be.

Reedtail would be lying if he said he wasn't looking forward to this. Bumblepelt had been putting off this battle for far too long. Hailfrost was right to speak out against him after the vote. At least someone in this Clan has a brain. He thought, flicking his tail. If the vote had failed, his faith in his Clan would be lost. They were starving, and even an experienced Fire Elemental like himself couldn't get the ice to melt over leafbare. The fish still haven't returned to the melted areas of the water. Hare Plains was their last resort, and he would take it at any cost.
The black tom's amber eyes fell on the WindClan patrol approaching. They knew this was coming. Good. They'll put up a fight. Furzepaw was following closely behind him. He looked at the apprentice and signaled for her to leave his side. The dilute calico shrunk away. She'd only slow him down.
Reedtail saw Stormstar among the patrol. He grinned. "He's mine." He was the most experienced of the patrol, and he knew the leader would put up quite the fight. This would be fun. There would be no friendly chatter before the battle. Reedtail wanted to cut to the chase. He prepared a large fireball and launched it towards the smoke coloured tom, eager to get the fight started.

The leader barely had time to announce the launch of his attack before he felt a sizzling fireball barely miss the tips of his ears as he ducked out of the way. The smoke tom gritted his teeth in rage while also secretly hoping it hadn't hit anyone behind him. With a blood curdling yowl, he accepted the senior warrior's challenge, a RiverClan tom he recognized as Reedtail. Not even Bumblepelt had enough experience underneath his belt to match Stormstar's array of known abilities. It was typical for leaders to duke it out, but for now...he'd settle for this tom. "You'll regret this day."
With his hackles raised, the leader powered himself up.

Reedtail flicked his ear in annoyance when his attack missed. He assumed the tom would have tried to dodge to the side, instead he barely moved. He took a deep breath and channeled the flames within. Perhaps a good flamethrower would get the tom the results he wanted. It was worth a shot, afterall. When Stormstar spoke, he simply chuckled for a moment. "No, no I don't think I will." He meowed. Reedtail began to send the flames towards the WindClan leader.

Thankfully, he managed to read the tom's attack and dodge once more, this time leaping to the side at lightning-quick speed. He wasn't particularly interested in going home with singed fur- he never quite liked fire elements. Fire bad. A deep growl rumbled in the tom's throat at his rival's refusal to leave his territory. "I don't think you have much of a choice, Reedtail." Raising his chin, Stormstar prepared his next attack, summoning whirling winds to whip up the dust and debris surrounding them.

Reedtail growled and lashed his tail. The dust made it hard to see. Something scraped his pelt and he winced. It was just a scratch. Even Furzepaw could do better than that. He pricked up his ears, looking for the smoky pelt of the WindClan leader. "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, Stormstar, but you won't be seeing much regret out of me." He called. If he couldn't see, he couldn't land a precise hit. Flamethrower would be his best option until the tom couldn't hold the sandstorm anymore.

The WindClanner hadn't expected Reedtail to successfully land a hit, causing him to let his guard down. However, when the flying debris was suddenly lit from oncoming fire, Stormstar wasn't quick enough to move out of the way. His body was wrapped in an incredible world of heat and pain, causing him to release a hit before rolling in an attempt to kill the flames that clung to his body and drained him of his life. "Are you here to have a chat, or meet your maker?" Gritting his teeth, Stormstar called upon all his strength for another attack, one he'd planned from the beginning.
He wanted to get home early.

Reedtail certainly wasn't expecting to suffocate today. Stormstar ripped the air from the tom's body. He couldn't breathe. He collapsed to the ground until he could finally catch his breath, though it was in wheezes. Great StarClan that's unfair. He thought, lashing his tail. He stood up on shaky legs and prepared a large fireball. "Shut your damn mouth."
